It is pretty loosey goosey. 1T HWC to 8+oz of diet soda. But how much HWC in how much diet soda is completely up to you. I do 1oz to about 8oz of soda and keep refilling my glass when it gets 1/3 down so it goes a while.

Rootbeer is good. Fruity sodas are good although probably not citrus types. DP is pretty good. Pepsi is so-so. Sky's the limit =)

My menus and amounts are running pretty much the same daily so I am being lazy and not posting all the numbers here.

B- 2 lazy eggs, coffee, CO
L - 1/2 oz peanuts
D - tilapia, avocado
S - Root beer float, 1 fat bomb and a jello/cream cheese concoction I made up.

All number and percentages right on target.

You get sort of corralled into it I think. If you stay fairly low carb and you are trying to cut calories then meat is the thing most LC'rs are going to turn to because low cal chicken breast is good and you can eat quite a bit without running up calories too much. Seafood too. Then you end up high protein, low carb, low fat sort of informally.

Yeah and that is unplanned. I was actually pretty hungry by lunch time which is why I thought I could eat 12.x oz of meat and the other stuff.

I've been full for hours and hours. I didn't really want the HWC float for dinner but I was thinking that I didn't want to put it off and end up needing it later in the evening.

I'm pretty sure that since starting on this thread I haven't eaten after 6pm. Most of the time by 5pm or 5:30 at the latest.

Yes, we do sometimes "mess" with you, don't we Christina.

I just found out myself what the lazy eggs were, had seen reference to them. I love deviled eggs but I think they are a pain to make.

Lazy eggs are just hardboiled eggs, peel, throw 1 or more in a bowl, mash them all up with your fork, add needed mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, whatever you like and eat em up! Lazy eggs!

I do eat later in the evening but so much less now than I was. I have always been more of a night eater, than a day eater and as long as I can lose this way, I will continue. I have never found out any facts that it makes a difference one way or another although I know that a lot of people believe you shouldn't eat after a certain time, or within so much time of going to bed.

Hmmm. That has potential but I can't stand mayo.

Ah. I totally agree about time of day eating. It really doesn't matter all things being equal.

The reason I do it is just personal vanity. Before LC and wheat-free, I *had* to eat after dinner. Usually a lot. Some sort of snack midway between dinner and bed time. Then I'd eat something while reading at bedtime. Pretty heinous.

I gloat to myself about eating at 5pm and not eating anything else till CO and coffee the next morning 11 or 12 hours later. It is so liberating and still new to me since I've only been able to do it for about a year now

No ma'am.

When Buffy described it I thought 'oh that sounds good without the mayo' and then when you said hey that is egg salad I though ugh lol I hate egg salad.

Buffy tricked me with the innocent sounding dish that was actually the evil egg salad dish.

Just something to think about, I am new to this too so certainly no expert. My range is 1200-1400 and I only set it that low b/c I am older, 66, and sedentary. If I keep losing well, I will probably up the calories a little just to make it all the more livable, and, to give me some wiggle room if I have to tweak later on to continue losing.
Buffy, hi!!! . 1,200 is the only way I used to be able to lose. I ran it by my doctor several years ago, and she said, "So now you have a baseline.". I pouted thinking it's not fair I have this metabolism! And, yes, I know we can (generally) lose on this plan while eating more calories.

I am in my 40's and have a desk job. The only excercise I get is ATVing and when I have time, walking on my treadmill.

[QUOTE=reddarin;15963406]1200 calories a day is a very low calorie intake. May I ask how tall you are? Or what your goal weight is?

1200 at 80% fat is going to be 900 calories from fat which is 100g of fat and 45g of protein which is about 180 calories with the balance towards 5% carbs. 45g of protein is definitely on the low side.

Wait. Deborah is doing 1200 calories a day I think. Maybe she'll chime in with some first hand advice on macros at that calorie level.[QUOTE=reddarin;15963406]

I do think 1200 calories is low, and I have not managed to keep my calories that low consistently for awhile now. I usually end up somewhere close to 1300, and next week I'm raising my calories to about 1450 because of just starting Insanity. But here are my stats from one of the days this week where I actually did about 1200 calories:

Total Calories: 1134

104.4g Fat (81.6%)
41.5g Protein (14.4%)
11.3g Total Carbohydrates (10g Net) which was 3.9% Total Carbs

There is no reason to start off at 1200 calories. I know it's so different from what we've been taught all these years, but you do not have to be hungry for one second with this woe. If you try to suddenly cut your calories that much, you'll experience that sensation for no reason. But I do agree you are right on track with keeping your carbs very low. When you first start out, concentrate on keeping the carbs very low and eating as clean as you can. Don't even worry about calories or anything because the weight WILL come off pretty easily in the beginning if you just keep carbs low. Did I mention, keep your carbs low?

Deborah, lol!! Did you say keep our carbs low?

And, yes, my goal is 1,200, but don't usually get that low.

Thank you for the float ideas!

G3rmanchik, we didn't get to know each other, but good luck to you.

weigh-in 09232012

Weigh-in this morning ... ... 196.5 =)

I went ahead and updated my profile again.

Yesterday, after stuffing myself with pork and then feeling uncomfortably stuffed lol I was reflecting on the issue of being so full. It strikes me that as a formerly fat person one of my biggest battles is still eating like a fat person even while losing weight or having lost a substantial amount of weight.

I know that part of the reason I ate so much was the insulin roller coaster but for me it was so intense that eating frequently was more to avoid headaches and feeling sick than it was for hunger.

When you try to build the bridge backwards to where the spark was ignited that resulted in this day today where do you arrive?

I consider Gary Taubes and Dr. Davis to be my most front-line saviors. But without the courage and bravery of Dr. Atkins would any of this have happened the way it did?

Stoicism is very appealing to me and always has been but it is hard not to get emotional when things were so very very bad not very long ago.

What got ya'll started on LC?

I got Taubes' WWGF book for free to review. That was the top of the mountain for me. He handed the pistol to Dr. Davis and Wheat Belly fired the shot that started the avalanche.
