Apparently, a pound of pork rib meat is my trigger

Perhaps there is an extra-dimensional nature to these things whereby I see a nice scale reading the morning after but the next morning the weight rematerializes in this dimension producing a bounce? I'll call George Nory tonight and run it by him.
OMG, you are so competitive Red, you won't give me a chance to catch up with you!!!!! I am woman, you are man, I am supposed to weigh less

Nah, just joking you know that. Congratulations, you are just doing fantastic on this plan and I am so happy for you, and you are such a great help to the others of us on this thread.

When I read your thread last night, the thought went through my mind that you mind see a whoosh this morning, not sure why but mixing things up like that sometimes does tht and let's hope it means we can have a high calorie, high protein day once in a while and it be a good thing!

There used to be a lady on these LC boards, not this one, that would sometimes eat a lb or more of browned hamburger meat, with onions, green pepper and a lot of cream cheese in one meal, she was really losing well.

Those test thingies are a bit expensive aren't they?

I recommend the Pound Or Rib Meat version of HFLC

Boy I was sure I'd see 5 pounds of gain on the scale. I about fell over when it was a new low lol. Took a picture for proof and weighed myself twice.

That dish sounds pretty good

In fact, last night I was trying to figure out how to account for a 5 pound gain with 18oz of meat. I figured I'd blame it on the huge protein and water weight

No kidding! I really enjoy the stuff I eat. Not many diets have that sort of an enthusiastic response from the victims.

I know what you mean about your Uncle. My niece came to visit last month and she was floored by how much weight I'd lost. Last time she saw me I was around 260 pounds.

I take it that the cocktails were a rare thing?

1200 calories a day is a very low calorie intake. May I ask how tall you are? Or what your goal weight is?

1200 at 80% fat is going to be 900 calories from fat which is 100g of fat and 45g of protein which is about 180 calories with the balance towards 5% carbs. 45g of protein is definitely on the low side.

Wait. Deborah is doing 1200 calories a day I think. Maybe she'll chime in with some first hand advice on macros at that calorie level.

Bacon can be a good protein because it is a high fat meat. To balance your macros, if you are stretching for 80/15/5, a good strategy is to combine fat and protein by eating fattier meats. Yesterday I had a huge fat gram day and a huge protein gram day but the meat was pork ribs, a very fatty meat.

The tricky thing, at 1200 calories, is spacing out your eating so you don't starve at different times of the day.

Try using bacon or another high fat meat in your logger for tomorrow to see how the macros work out and how much you'll be able to actually eat and stay at your calorie goal. Do you know what I mean? I use my logger to tweak the whole day sometimes the night before. I use it as a guideline so I don't worry about not following it for any reason that might crop up. It is time consuming though.

Christina is right about the fat bombs being a good way to get a shot of almost pure healthy fat.

Butter drizzled over lean protein and veggies is a good way to get extra fat in too.

Hmmm.

Susan, I think if I were doing a 1200 calorie regimen I'd try for 18% protein which is 55g and then try to make the balance from fat.

You can still eat some LC veggies. Broccoli, for example, has protein so it can count towards protein while still giving you variety.

55g of protein is probably not enough if you are really tall though.

Thanks, Red. I am 5'6", shooting for 145. My stats are to the left
<------

Using the formula you posted yesterday, I calcualted my fat should be 94 or 96, can't remember which.

I like the drizzled butter idea. And, cocktails aren't TOO rare-I indulge several times a week.

I made PB fat bombs a few nights ago for the first time and have been indulging in them. I have made cream cheese clouds, too, for months now.

Low calorie / low carb cocktails?

Basically, at 1200 calories as a goal and 45-50g of protein as a minimum, you need about 200 calories from protein sources (plan or animal or mix) and the rest in fat. Fatty meats can combine two of the macros (like bacon).

Am I answering your question? It doesn't seem like it lol

Refined CO is a good drizzle item too for savory dishes. Any healthy fatty oil really.

Food Log

Gonna go ahead and close out my log for today.

Breakfast: Coffee and CO.
Snack: HWC float.
Lunch: Pork rib meat, jalapeno, broccoli and tomato.
Dinner: HWC float.

Calories: 1,655

Fat: 145
Pro: 72
Car: 21

78/18/5

Actually, I'd laid out about 2100 calories and 82% fat for the day but I couldn't eat 12.7oz of meat so I had to cut that back to 9.5oz. Then I was still so full from lunch that I cut the other 2oz of HWC (or fat bombs or whatever fat thing I chose) out for dinner.

=)

Hey Susan. Can I ask how you picked your calorie goal? It seems pretty low for someone at your current weight. Don't deprive yourself too much or you set yourself up for failure, plus, some people go so low on calories that they end up not losing, they up them and start losing.

You have been doing this awhile so there is probably a reason but a lot of people kept lowering their calories when they were eating high proteins amount, trying to lose, when it seems the studies now are pointing to the fact that it was not necessarily high calories but high protein that was causing the stalls.

Just something to think about, I am new to this too so certainly no expert. My range is 1200-1400 and I only set it that low b/c I am older, 66, and sedentary. If I keep losing well, I will probably up the calories a little just to make it all the more livable, and, to give me some wiggle room if I have to tweak later on to continue losing.

Diet soda poured over ice, add 1 T of HWC. DElish. A lot of us like rootbeer but you can use any flavor of soda you like. One of my nightly treats.
