Morning.

I won't post my numbers yesterday, I got busy and didn't eat as much as I should have so all my numbers were low. Will do better today.

Appetite totally controlled now. Ketones testing where they should be. Sleeping very well and energy level good. Looking like I will have another small loss this week, at least it is there now, please be there on Monday when I post and hopefully it is a little more than now.

Love, love, loving this WOE.

Finally had the side effect from the magnesium yesterday and last night. Hmmm, maybe I had better back off just a little and build back up

I was just thinking. I'd backslid and had started eating a lot of carbs through corn products like tortilla chips and popcorn (since wheat makes me sick).

What brought me back to reality what stepping on the scale and seeing 214.x pounds staring back up at me.

214!!

I was miserable when I was fat so seeing that big of a number on the scale was a shock.

That was about 20 days ago. From 214.x to 197.x in 20 days. I was 203.6 when I began focusing on getting the minimum protein in and keeping 80% fat as my target macro anchor. That was on the 8th so 12 days ago.

All of that recent stuff was after being stalled at about 205 since March of 2012.

Minimum protein and 80% fat macro has worked for me after 5 months of a seriously disheartening stall and then a small weight gain.

=)

On magnesium, I have gotten to about 180% of the RDA. One of the mp3s I listened to at Jimmy Moore's site had a doctor that felt 200% of RDA was the best dosing.

I think I'll leave the other 20% to dietary intake since I know that supplementing puts me within eyesight of his recommendation.

I can't remember if it was Dr. Eades (I think it was) or Dr. Davis, but one of them was emphatic that most Americans are chronically magnesium deficient.

I do know that this past week, after about 2 days of taking the magnesium that I am easily falling asleep, something that has been a problem for me for most of my life. I think it must be the mag that is doing that.

I ordered some but I don't think it is going to be here by the time I am out, do you have a brand/type that you recommend that I can get in our "hood"?

I had to run into the other room to get my self-denial reading glasses

I bought the Spring Valley brand at Wal-Mart because it is convenient. But I'm changing brands/type when I run out of this bottle.

HEY! Before you run and get some read Dr. Eades article on it first:

Google 'dr eades magnesium-and-inflammation/' and it should be the first hit.

Important! There are different sorts of Magnesium on the market. You want one that lists the magnesium source ending in 'ate'. For example, the bottle I bought lists 'Magnesium Stearate'.

Here is a quote from the comments section under that article, which is why I am changing brands/type when I run out:

Quote:
What form of magnesium is the best? And in what dosage?
Thank you very much!

Hi Dee–

I use magnesium citrimate, and I take 300 mg per day at bedtime. Any good chelated magnesium will do. Just look for one with ‘ate’ on the end of it, as in magnesium aspartate or magnesium citrate. And be careful in checking the doses because chelated magnesium isn’t all labeled the same. Some list the actual magnesium on the label and will say that each pill contains, say, 150 mg of magnesium. Others add the weight of the chelating agent (the substance that ends in ‘ate’) in with the magnesium, so you might find a brand where the label says each pill is 1000 mg. This means the magnesium plus the chelating agent adds up to 1000 mg. The best way is to look for the RDI on the back of the bottle. Take enough pills to get the RDI each day, and take them at bedtime.

Hope this helps.

MRE
Interesting. I wonder if that is one of the reasons that the other doctor on Jimmy's podcast recommended 2xRDA? On the other hand, even Eades says the RDA is 'woefully low'.

A big thank you to every that offered congrats! I was getting a bit down on the lack of loss- I have lost nearly 6 pound in teh past 2 days. Before that I was stalled..

For all taking supps: have any of you looked at "Alive" ? Very good source of pretty much every nutrient out there. Netrition carries the pill form, however I take the liquid for ease of digestion. I wish netrition carried the liquid

Oh. I forgot to mention. If you are gluten-free check the label to make sure it is gluten-free too. I was buying some B-12 several months ago and I was surprised to see that only one of the bottles actually said gluten-free.

I'm not but something to look for.

Just put a batch of pumpkin cream cheese muffins in the oven, will see how they turn out.

DD's coming over tonight, one doing WW and the other doing this . I am fixing tilapia in the oven and we LC's can add butter, green beans, cooked with bacon, topped with butter and HWC, but other DD can strain hers out. The cheesecakes and still looking for another idea or two.

Some fresh fruit for the WW daughter is going to be good on her plan. Maybe some sort of a fruit salad.

She probably watches starches so sweet potato might be good for everyone. Baked or mashed or whatever. With baked you and the sane daughter can load it up with goodies while the insane daughter suffers with light margarine and chives lol

Hey Buffy. I had an idea earlier and I made a post about it in the lobby but I was thinking about your daughter when I came up with it.

With her schedule it can be difficult to do food logging. So it occurred to me that if she just uses her cell to take a quick pic of the meal she can look at it later to jog her memory on everything she needs to log.

One person responded, so far, that she does that and will take a quick photo of the nutritional label sometimes for later reference too.

If she wants to be discreet she can just do the camera settings where there is no flash and no shutter noise. She could even pretend to be checking text messages. Or say she wanted to email the pic to a friend later for some reason.

=)

good ideas, I have plenty of canned fruit that needs to be used.

DD downloaded the Iphone app for the nutritional program she is using, so can log as she goes. Good ideas though and thanks for helping me help her

She is excited, has dropped several lbs this week already so is pumped to keep going.

I am sure it will, just don't overdo the stevia or you will get an aftertaste. Taste it while you are making it, if it tastes good then, it will taste good frozen.

I've never used anything but liquid sweetners. I'm curious to see how that works but I think it'll be hard to tell the difference. Make a really small batch to test it.
