------- The formula that I use, created by Dr. Jan Kwasniewski, is: ((Height in cm)-100) +/-10% = Protein Grams [ I use the -10% number] Fat grams = P*2.5 to 3.5 [I use the 2.5] Carb grams = P*.5 ...which results in this: Protein range: 61-74 Daily Goals ---------- Protein: 61 Fat: 152 Carbs: 30 Total calories: 1735 Last edited by reddarin; 09-16-2012 at 12:49 PM.. |

I'm gonna clean up the spreadsheet and post it as an attachment so ya'll can do the numbers easily anytime I'm not on line.
I might tinker with it a bit to make it more user friendly too. I don't use Excel so someone will have to try it and let me know if there is any issue with the 'export to Excel format' I'll have to use. |

DH thinks he eats LC because he loves meat. Well, that's the end of that story.
LOL, no, he isn't doing LC because he has never in his life had to be on a diet of any kind. If I am successful in losing my weight on this, then he will notice and he might get on board to lose that big ole belly, but I kind of doubt it. He is an old dog and not inclined to learn any tricks, let alone new ones ![]() |

Weigh In
Down another .2 #. Today will be my first day of actually striving to hit my percentages. I figured out my whole day's food on Fit Day first to get the grams and percents to come out right, then printed it. Now all I have to do is eat what is on the list.
It seems like a lot of calories and fat but charting every morsel has been an eye opener, also. I was consuming much more than I thought. I hope this woe works. I would like to hear about others success in pounds lost. Maybe we could keep updating our profile/weight loss? It really helps to see progress made. |

Don't worry if the scale fluctuates a bit. The best thing to do right now is take your measurements. Then if the scale lies to you you can check your measurements and know that either you are not gaining or you have lost despite what that stupid scale says. I was up one day on the scale and checked my measurement (singular because I only measured my belly) and it was down =) If you have any questions or anything be sure to post. Everyone is very helpful here |

I was browsing through Jimmy Moore's podcasts and found this one about Kennon Hulett. She's a new documentary film maker following in the footsteps of Fat Head's Tom Naughton.

Thanks
Thanks for the encouragement. Measuring ones body is a good idea but I have always felt that with all the fat, measuring is so inexact. Does one measure very loosely or does one tighten it just a bit...
Thanks also for changing your stats, red, and I sure hope I'm not responsible for a major disaster. I'll keep changing mine, too. I downloaded such a neat weight loss chart. It was on vertex42 and look for weight loss chart. Men and women have different charts and it is a daily log. I am very nervous about this woe as it is very against what we have been indoctrinated with as a society. I sure hope it works. |

![]() Are you just starting out then? Are you an attention to detail person? When you get started there is so much to learn that it can be overwhelming, sometimes contradictory and, frankly, pretty discouraging. So, how you move forward is up to you. LC is a broad umbrella and there are a lot of different ways of doing it and *all* of the different ways are successful for some people. All we need to do is find the way that works for you. Personally, my success has been low carb and high fat (LCHF) and now LCHF with nutritional ketosis (NK). That is the general path we are following on this thread =) Make sure you get your minimum protein in daily to protect your lean body mass (LBM) and make up the difference in fat calories. If you really get in to it and you aren't overwhelmed by it then you can log you food. Food logging is a great tool because you can see exactly what you are eating and most of the food logs on line show you macro percentages too. Like fat %, protein %, carbs %. I use ******. There are two or three that are very popular but the rules for this website don't allow linking (or even mentioning) a couple of them because the site sponsor Netrition directly competes with their advertisers =) ******, I don't think, is the best, but it is what I settled on and have been using for a while. You should keep 3 or 4 food logs at the same time for a week or two before you decide on one. I didn't really do that and I wish I had. I have been posting my food logs. You can take a look and see what I've been eating, the numbers and macros. Please feel free to ask any questions at all. 9/12/12 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...l#post15945091 9/13/12 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...l#post15939779 9/14/12 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...l#post15937448 9/15/12 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...l#post15946982 9/16/12 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...l#post15949834 ![]() |

I tell you what, I was pretty angry by the time I finished that book. The nutritional guidelines promoted in America today are not based on science and they never have been. Then I read Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis. If those two books don't make you mad about what's happened in the last 50 years in the US then reread them. Healthy whole grains my eye. ![]() LC *is* based on science. It works because the body works LC. Anyway, let me just jump down off my soap box here ![]() |
