Strang knee problem

I have a knee problem I can't pin down. Walking up a slight incline makes my knee hurt and i am talking about even a 5% incline but walking or even light jogging on a level surface doesn't bother it or even doing deep knee bends is ok.
I can't even use my treadmill because it won't let down to be perfectly level. Any idea what could be going on here ?

I don't know what your specific problem is, but I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees (avoiding replacement), and one of the first problems I encountered was walking on uneven surfaces. Even the slightest incline was difficult.

However, as with any bodily dysfunction, I'd have it checked. You may want to see an orthopedist.

I just went to the orthopedist and nothing showed up in the xrays. It's sort of flustrating I live about 1/4 mile from a park with a lake and the walking path around the lake is 1/2 mile so just walk to the park and once around the lake and back home would be 1 mile. only problem is there are a 200 foot stretches with a maby 5% incline and that bothers my knee just a little. Seems foolish to drive 1/4 mile to the park and then walk another time around the lake to avoid 2 really tiny hills.

It may be a mild strain or just the beginning of arthritis, neither of which would show up on x-ray. As you know, x-ray only shows bone--no soft tissue--so if you have a sight tendon or ligament strain, it won't show up.

The good news is that if you 'baby' this for a while (and it's just soft tissue), it should go away. Keep in mind that pain is our body's signal that something isn't right, so don't persist in any activity that is painful.

so the doc ruled out a slight meniscus tear? That wouldn't show up on an xray but would on an MRI. If this doesn't get better soon, you may need an MRI to detail any soft tissue damage.

It does clear up 100% till I start on any type of incline walking then it flares up just a little.
But as I said the real strange thing is deep knee bends don't bother it at all.
