I did the hcg diet and lost 15 pounds in three weeks (went from 147 to 132...) Unfortunately, it also set me up for binge eating after it ended. I was obsessed with all things food and cooking at the end...my calories were just too low. I gained it all back really fast because I couldn't stop obsessively eating after I finished.

I have a cousin in Las Vegas who is doing it and loves it, though. So, I know it's different for everyone.

Karla, I do feel like I have bounced back after my fitness program, though. I feel like I'm eating well these days and continuting to maintain/lose a little (see below) I think you can repair your metabolism by working on your lean muscle mass, even if it takes some time, it will be totally worth it.

I e-mailed my trainer today for my new weekly program. It's TOM and I'm up in my chest and waist (of course!) But I'm down an inch in my hips and on my thighs, even though I'm up a couple of pounds on the scale.

I didn't understand it then, but the results did show that while I was losing a higher percentage of fat, I was losing lean mass as well. I guess it's a YMMV thing.
That is too bad. I loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat. My bodyfat was low after I was done and I have maintained beautifully. It has been hard work of course but anything worth having..... Again now I am just losing all by my lonesome and it is taking longer but I am okay with that. I am sorry you didn't have a good experience with it. I have converted at least a dozen family and friends.

Karla - okay, I get it. Have you tried a heavy lifting program on your own? BFL or NROLW? You may be able to do this on your own using a program like that, or even something like CLX (Chalene Extreme) or P90X, which are both home DVD workout systems that each run 90 days. Everyone's different, so you'd have to decide what would work best for you.

It's been so long since I lifted heavy - I did CLX last fall - that I'm going to have to see what I'm capable of. Squats done with DBs I can handle about 25-35# (each). Anything more, then I have problems holding the weights and find them too heavy to hold on my shoulders. As for a bar, I'm not sure. I'd have to try them in my Smith cage because I don't have a spotter here at home.

I did deadlifts with 90# today, and think that I could do 100#. Deadlifts are one of my favorite LB exercises.

I'll have to let you know about UB, as again it's been awhile. I think I got up to 21# for bicep curls, and remember doing 26.5# bench presses with DBs. Pec flies were a little lower, probably 21#.

Jami - you look awesome, hon! I can see a HUGE difference in your arms (look at those guns!) and also in your abs. You legs are looking better too. You should be proud of what you've accomplished in just 8 weeks!

You've got a tat! I wanna see a better pic of it. I always wanted one there, but need to lose some more weight first.

You're crazy, girl! Yes, there is an improvement between week 1 & 4, but looked at how ripped your arms are in week 8! No wonder the trainer was all over the compliments on your arms.

, that's a great idea. Erik's the expert, so he should be able to tell which way you'd get more bang for your buck.

How are you enjoying your vacation, Ileen? Hope you're having a great time.

Yeah, isn't it amazing what one can do when they've got a game plan in place? I think that's where too many people make mistakes - they do something, don't see results fast enough, change things up, then wind up in the same exact place! I know I did just that, and that it didn't get me anywhere.

Jami, your abs and arms look AMAZING. Forget the scale.

My trainer says I'm doing great. I have a four day split this week, which I love. Nutrition is about the same, but I get more calories, which I also love.

Karla, I will put in a vote for BFL. I did it as written about ten years ago. I "only" lost 2 pounds on my scale, but I went down 2 sizes (almost 3...from a size 8 to a size 4...and almost a 2) in 12 weeks. It's a good solid program.

Good job Rachel! I think my fat is more stubborn! I started as a snug 8, and now Im at a loose 8. LOL I have never been a size 6. In 6th grade I wore size 5 Guess jeans..
It sure beats being the size 16 I used to wear though!

Jami I took befores but haven't taken any others yet. So I will soon believe me.

Has anyone tried Extreme Whey protein powder? Love it. I have the oreo cookie flavor. I want to get the chocolate. It really tastes good with just water.

Hey ladies/gents - how many sets of an exercise do you usually do? I know that might be a tough one to answer depending on your plans. Just curious.

I have also done three sets of 15, two sets of 20, three sets of 10, 12, and 15, and 10 sets of 10.

Thanks - yeah I usually do 3 or 4 sets of 12-15 depending. When following this one routine, I did 2 sets of all of the upper body exercises but there were alot of them maybe that is why.

I havent tried that PP.. is it thick. my favorite is Whey Gourmet PB choc but im trying to avoid the art swtner.

For lifting. no set rep range.. some things get hit at1-3 reps... 5 reps, some at 6- 8, some accessory stuff at 10-12.. rarely do we do 15 or above unless we are doing a depletion type workout.. not often.

Yeah I am trying to maintain the exercise because my weight does not come off without it.

Yes 24 means day 24 of 90 days. Thanks it is tough. I plan on finishing it. I am doing the original P90 and then well do the PX90.

Spin class is also tough but fun. It's an cardio workout.

Ileen, that is hands down the best protein powder I have ever tried. OH MY GOSH! I made a shake with it, crushed ice... it tasted like a PB cup blizzard.. yum! I made my son fortified french toast this morning. 2 slices ww bread, egg beaters and 10grams of that pp. He was in love.. His eyes got really big.. I think he was impressed. LOL

Siggie. Spinning is an excellent workout. I did that today for my HIIT and my ARSE was burning!

I hope that switching my cardio up will help me get the fat loss I need in my lower legs.. fingers crossed! I am only 3.5 weeks out from the end of my challenge, and my legs look the same as they did when I started. The panel of judges will probably think I only worked my upperbody.. LOL

Morning! (well it was when I started my post!)

DH and I were up late grouting the new tile on the fireplace. It seemed to take forever to do, but it looks awesome. Now we just have to wait three days until we can seal it, and then build the new mantle.

OMG, my ass is on fire from my LB workout yesterday! Gotta deadlifts with a good, heavy weight to activate those glutes.

Food was 100% on plan, and came in as follows per ******:

Calories 1,726
Fat 45.6 (23 %)
Carbohydrate 156.9 (37 %)
Dietary Fiber 20.9
Protein 169.0 (40 %)

OMG, I made the best little legal snack - 2 tbsp (30 g) natural peanut butter + 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder + enough water to thin it out a bit. I put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, and OMG, it tasted just like a Reece's cup! Tonight, I think I'll use a bit less water, and roll them into balls and flatten them before freezing them.
