How long did it take you......

to get noticeable definition?? Took me two years with a personal trainer 5 years ago when I was not that serious about it. Diet was off an on. Now I am going from 30 pounds overweight and couldn't be more serious. My head is back in the game. I switched to the Low Carb plan this morning. I am taking multi-vitamins, cinnamon for better blood sugar control and just picked up some L-Glutamine.
You think 3 days cardio and 4 days weights is good?? Maybe I'll have to pick up the Body for Life book???

Much of my definition really surfaced literally when my body fat was dissipated. Matter of fact, my veins (arms, legs) etc. are very visible. Because I use cycling as the primary form of exercise and no weight training, muscle bulk if not utilized is NOT my goal. Cardio and aerobic ability is paramount and a downhill battle unfortunately as there is no way to turn back the clock for this senior citizen. Six pack is not quite as defined as when I was 20 but it is still visible.

Regarding the time it took, well I didn't weigh nor care much about fat content being a diabetic type 2 and monitoring BS, HbA1C, cholesterol, etc. as a priority, but imagine I lost nearly all of my 65 lbs. in the 1st quarter of the year into VLCing. Mostly my clothes told me so falling off at times literally. I even got back into my 32"X34" disco leather pants saved from so so long ago. Think I might wear these as a spoof to our annual biking party?????

LOL so what are your recommendations for workout. 3 days cardio, 4 days weights?? Hmmm maybe 5 days of 1/2 hour cardio and then 4 days 1/2 hour weights. I guess cardio is essential for burning the fat.
Thanks!! LIke you I have sugar issues. I am hypoglycaemic so am really hopeing this L_Glutamine helps like I keep reading about!! Counting calories and am really hopeing to sculpt as well as loose the fat so am wondering which workout plan would be good??

Actually, cardio workouts are aerobic obviously and burn up glycogen store primarily and will not burn fat. It is better to do whatever cardio activity at a easy pace, it will feel like you're not doing much. Of course now you can sustain this for more than 1/2 hour time permitting. Wt. lifting in general when done in a structured rep program every other day with increasing wts. and reps to literally tear muscle tissue will result in muscle bulk.

Essentially, to maximize definition you'll need to get rid of existing fat to "reveal" what is underneath AND bulk up muscles. The slow aerobic program and aggressive wt. lifting should work. Remember to LC diligently and stay onboard?

Whether the L_Glutamine will help only time will tell.
Good luck!!!!

I saw the greatest improvement in "definition" once I began serious carb rotations, combined with the discipline of regular training and cardio.

In my case, I train four days a week and do some form of cardio 5-6 days a week.

losing body fat is a matter of diet. I've seen contest peeps down down 30lbs in about 6months but that is likely more agressive.

as a beginner just getting back in 3days of wts and a few days of cardio.. you can go to 4 days training after awhile of breaking back in. LC isnt the only way to go. Like WMS, i also rotate carbs and have never done hi fat/lc

Remember this isnt a race but a lifestyle. the truth is not in how fast you lose it but keeping it off.
