ChaLean Extreme Challenge

A couple people mentioned doing a ChaLean Extreme challenge and I thought I would start a thread to see who is up for it? To keep everyone motivated to achieve our results, I know that I need as much motivation and inspiration as possible.

I started ChaLean Extreme on Saturday, December 27. Today I'm doing Burn Circuit 2, I'm still sore from saturdays workout. But I know that lifting heavier weights will be the key to making me lean and reshaping my body

Who's in with me?

Hi,

I ordered this program on December 31st and hope to receive it this week or early next week. I am looking forward to a structured program that changes every 4 weeks. I am not very good at desiging my own. I will post back when I start the program.

I'll check-in here and there I started on Saturday, December 27th as well. I did Burn Circuit 2 this morning. The first week, I did the program with bands (I only had weights up to 10 pounds). This weekend, I went out and bought heavy weights, so I am now doing the program with heavy weights. What a difference they make!

Hi everyone,

I finally got mine yesterday and I did the Burn Circuit 1. WOW! I think this is going to be great for me. Last night I could really feel it in my muscles and today I can feel it, too. I'm not really sore - yet! I'm looking forward to everyone else's progress as well.

This weekend I will do all of my measurements, etc. and really try to follow the entire plan exactly so that I can track my results.

How are all of you doing with it?

I've made it through two weeks almost (week 3 starts on Saturday) and I'm amazed at the definition I'm already starting to see in my arms. Plus, I could be making it up, but I really think my waist has gotten smaller (I'm trying to hold off on my urge to measure and wait till the one month mark). I've lifted weights since I was 15, but it's always been light to moderate weights. I've never lifted heavy before. What a difference!

I have a range from 3 pounds to 25 pounds (adjustable weights). I've been using 15s for legs (back) and 10s for most upper body work. I'm about to increase both of those next week (17 & 12).

ETA - Those numbers may seem light to a lot of people, but I typically do Barre workouts which are using body weights. So, switching from using no weights or 5 pounds weights to 17s & 12 is a big difference for me

Well, I'm finally through the first week of Burn Phase 1 and I'm already seeing changes! This workout is awesome! I've never done anything this intense before and it's really working! My clothes are already getting loose. I'm going to try to wait until the first 30 days are up before I take my measurements again, but I can tell I'm already shrinking.

How are all of you doing on this?

Hi I'm new to this board........I've been a south beacher since 2004. I have troulbe with breads and grains in general.....I have to be very cautious when eating them and always need to pair them with a fat or protein. I was really bad over Christmas. I started SBD on 1/5/04, ended up going down to 141 and pretty much stayed there for years............until this year So now on 1/5/09, I am redoing phase 1 as well as starting Chalean Extreme. I have been working out, but wanted something new. I love these workouts.....I am on my second week and have done Burn 1,2,3, and the other two days....burn it off/burn intervals, etc. I follow the book workouts. Anyway, I was up to 161 when I weighed in on 1/5/09 Very disappointing. I lost 6 lbs. the first week, and I weigh in on Fridays. One thing I noticed though is my muscles feel stronger....I've been consistently sore, which feels great in a wierd way!! I am hoping to get back into my jeans comfortably, no matter what the scale says!

3tikes, I know what you mean about the soreness that feels good! This is a different feeling for me than the ususal post-workout soreness and I like it!

Lildragonfly, this has been my menu that past two weeks and I'm doing okay with it so far:

Morning:
1 LC Tortilla with 1 oz mozzarella cheeze

Snack: 20 almonds OR very small apple with 1tbsp peanut butter

Lunch: Salad with spinach, shredded cabbage, chicken breast and Italian dressing

Snack: A few almonds or 2-3 LC Dove chocolates (need to break this habbit!)

Dinner: Lean meat (turkey burger, lean steak, etc.) and green veggies (broccoli, brussell sprouts, etc.)

If I really want something else at night I will have some berries with Fage non-fat yogurt for dessert.

I have not weighed myself again yet - the scale is not my friend! But I will weigh myself this weekend. I love this workout plan and so far I am shocked and pleased that I can see results so quickly.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's progress, too!

I've been doing this since 1/5/09, honestly, I've never seen something work so well for me. My legs are firmer than they have ever ,been (and I've ran up to 4 miles and lifted weights for the past 4 years), in two weeks, I've seen more improvement than ever. I always gain in my legs although with me cheating on the diet so bad over the holidays and this past year in general, I've seen a tummy forming. I am amazed by this program. I really like Chalean too, does anyone have experience with her turbo jam? I thought of buying it as well to do later. I am definitely sticking to this for 90 days. That's the other thing, I used to workout 6 days, with this program, it's only 5! What's not to love!

I just started week 4 of the Burn phase, I love it!! my weight is about the same but I am sure seeing a difference in my body. I am pretty much sore all the time but I suppose that is a good thing The one thing I struggle with is surges in appetite every now and then. This happened after doing Burn it Off/recharge, Burn it Off was SO intense!!!

3tikes - I have the Turbo Jam series, it rocks!! I would highly recommend it. Turbo Ab Jam really got my Abs in shape which is helping with CLX.

Thanks Nikismom, I will look into the turbojam series, with my Chalean Extreme, I paid extra and the weighted gloves came with it. I noticed I was hungrier some days too. I have to agree with the scale issues - I think with this program you will notice physical changes first. I am not back at my goal weight and I ordered pants online and they came and I thought no way will they fit - they did fit easily! I am 11 pounds away from goal!

Where did you find the adjustable weights? At the moment I only have 7 lb weights, but I think if I am going to start this I will need something I can make heavier.

Everyone's results are making me so eager to start this!

Personally, I would NOT buy the adjustable weights. I have read many negative reviews about all of them. We bought the Weider brand which, still expensive ($250 with stand), were much cheaper than the bowflex seletechs (499 no stand included). They are also bulky, and with Weider you cannot change weights easily. The selectechs do look easier. I took back the weider and bought a weight rack and a really nice set of weights from 5lbs up to 25lbs and I love it, it was around $200. You can find everything at Dicks or Dunhams. Good Luck!

I should add that my weights were adjustable up to 50lbs. Maybe the 25's are better?

Hmm, I've been thinking of getting the adjustable weights (either Bowflex or Weider) so that I don't end up with too many weights laying around. I'm not looking forward to the cost, but I hate turning my family room entirely into a gym. I guess I'll think about that a little more before making a decision. Currently I have 5lb, 7lb and 10lb pairs and I know I'll need heavier very soon.

This morning I did week 2 of Burn 3 and I'm really tired. These workouts are awesome but I'm having a strange side effect. I fall asleep but wake up 4-5 hours later and can't get back to sleep. Is anyone else having that problem? It's frustrating because I know I need the sleep to repair my muscles and to keep from getting run down. I hope I can sleep through the night tonight!

But I love this work out program. I was too chicken to weigh myself - my clothes are getting loose, but I don't want to become disappointed. Maybe I'll wait until the 30 days are up before hopping on teh scale.

OMG! Yes, I get very tired in the afternoon about 2-3 hours after I workout. My legs especially! My weight rack is about 18 inches tall and 30 inches wide. It's in the corner of our game room. Just make sure whatever you buy, you can take back. That's what we did!

I work out mostly in the evenings but I can tell ya that I pass out much earlier than I used to. I don't have problems waking up 4-5 hours though. I use free weights and my room looks like a gym I am pretty short (5'1) and the adjustable weights are just to big and bulky for me. I have from 3lbs all the way up to 40lbs, the heavier ones belong to my DH.

I was doing some reading on the Beachbody site last night as they were saying that you don't see the biggest change in your body until the Lean phase.

Even the book says that the lean phase is where you really see results, I can't wait. I hope there is more to see, I'm really happy even this early on.
