The thing you guys aren talking about with the pull ups , is that something else I have to buy too bfore I start. Does she go over what you need to start the program in the video?

Thanks!

No, the pullup thing is for P90X, don't worry about it.

Nikismom: Congrats on the muscles!!! You mean the delts? I think that is the prettiest muscle ever! If you've got delts showing, I am totally in envy!

I am on week 3 of the burn circuit, I was able to do al the pushup that she wanted done but it was on my knees which is still better than last week as I couldn't do more than 2. For the lower body weights are you guys using a weighted vest? If you are is there different sizes and weights?

At the time I was on Burn Circuit I used powerblocks that went up to 24lbs. That is all I used for the lower body. Now in lean I have selecttechs so I use 30lbs.

Today was Lean 2. I did all of the extreme push ups. My shoulders were really tired when I was done with this workout.

Thanks but I meant for the weighted vest some people have mentioned that they use one as the lower body weights can get pretty heavy to hold for some of the workouts.

Do you need dumbbells for Chalene or can it be a bar?
Thanks!

I think you mean a bar with plates, that would be okay, but I think it would be a pain to switch the plates in between exercises. Dumbbells are a better choice. It's totally up to you though.

I use a barbell for some of the curls, and most of the squats. I just can't hold on to dumbbells for that long past 20 pounds and I don't want my lower body to suffer just because my grip stinks. I plan to work on my grip, but in the meantime, I use the bb as much as possible. Everything I have is weight plates so it's a lot of swapping anyway.

I've been sore the whole way through the program! It's all good though! If you felt like you had noodles for arms or legs, look out! Congrats on starting!

Pleiades -- I can see using a barbell for some of the shoulder work (chest presses and overhead presses, etc.) and curls, but how do you do the single-arm stuff? Like, the alternating rows, and moves like that? (BTW, I think a barbell would be GREAT for some of that over-the-head stuff, b/c it's so much more stable, but I refuse to buy one more thing!!!!)

Jabbok, I used a weighted vest called CoolVest, by Iron Core. It has great plastic weights (no rusting) that you can put in it -- I've added 18 pounds, which lets me load my legs without exceeding my grip strength. It's adjustable for size. There's a short version and a long one -- I think the long one would get in the way of any bent-over moves -- the short one is great. One more thought -- in the Burn Circuit there are so many bent-over moves that the weighted vest was putting pressure on my lower back -- I switched to a weighted belt instead (you can also get these from Iron Core), which lets you carry the weight all at your center of gravity instead of up higher. (See why I don't want to buy any more stuff? *rolls eyes at self*)

Hope this helps!

With some of the bent over moves in lean, my lower back gets tired. I don't have back problems but I feel the need to take a short break and stand up straight to relax it. Did you have that problem in the beginning? Maybe I'm working back muscles that have never been worked.

Yeah, I do feel it in my back more than the other circuits. I haven't hurt it but it just aches more.

Me toooo! When that happens, sometimes I have to stand up and stretch my back for a minute. It's annoying, isn't it?

Welcome!!!!!!

Well, you may be pretty sore -- depends on how heavy you lifted. But, sore just means your muscles are doing what they need to do (breaking down and building up), so it's a good thing! For me, the first week or so was more "I can't sit down without moaning" sore -- after that it was just regular "good" soreness.

Only you can tell what weights you'll need -- you'll find out as you do the workout. The goal for the first phase (month) is to fail between 10 and 12 reps, so you want weights heavy enough so that will happen.

Thank goodness I'm not alone. It's very annoying trying to concentrate on your form and your back needs stretching. I try to stick my butt out like Chalean stresses but I have to take a break. I tell you one thing, this is nothing like Burn and Push. After this torture, I want to see every single muscle she points out and talks about.

Tomorrow Burn It Off and Turbo Jam Fat Blaster

Morning, ladies!

Cardio day today! Soooooo tired this morning -- I stayed up to watch LOST -- DVR'd it to watch after the kiddos went to bed. So, I was dragging my butt this morning. I looked at Burn It Off, and I just couldn't face it! The dread was so high -- I was ready to toss the DVD out the window. So, I popped in TJ Cardio Party 2, and in two minutes Chalene had me in a good mood! Great workout!

I did Burn it off this morning. I didn't feel up to Fat Blaster so I did Recharge instead. I got bored with it with 8 mins left to go and felt like throwing the dvd out of the window. I'll do better tomorrow which will be Lean 3.

To be honest, I am kinda sad that this is over this week. I am really starting to see the results of the Lean Phase. Next is recovery then we start P90X. I have been stressing about P90X but I have decided that I will Bring It, and give it my best. Hopefully the new CLX will be out on the streets when I finish.

FYI, the new CLX isn't like the old one -- it really sounds like more add-on workouts. I saw a summary of the four new ones they're filming -- none of them are weights.

It's too bad, I was hoping for another CLX, that you could do as a whole program after this one was done. Oh, well . . .

Porkfat - so they are all cardio? Hmmm, I'd have to think about that one.

Nikismom - Come on girl! You KNOW you are ready, look how hard you've worked! You'd better be on here checking on us and letting us know how P90X is! Just think how much stronger you are since you started.....you couldn't have made a better choice than CLX to get strong and add P90X to top it off!
