My thyroid is a pain in the arse too! We sectioned off part of our game room (put up real walls and all) and have a little weight room with a computer in it. We have laminate flooring. I'm glad you're in!

I do my workouts in the family room/workout area, there is carpet on the floor. I think you will really enjoy doing the workouts, I know I am and am hoping to see really good results.

I do my workouts in either the living room or the bedroom. Both rooms are carpeted.

Today was the first day of lean. I can see why you would get lean in this phase. To me, this phase is harder than the previous phases. I lifted the same amount of weight as Chalean. The push ups killed me, but I was suprised at how many I did without having to switch to the modified version. I switched, but not as quickly as I usually have to. Also, let's not talk about holding the plank position while lifting a weight with the other hand. I was sweating buckets and I did not attempt to do any additional cardio today. This workout made me question whether I'm ready for p90x yet. But as soon as I'm done with Chalean, I will be bringing it.

Burn Intervals and Extreme Abs tomorrow.

Ah Poopiedo, it's nice to hear you joined the lean ranks - hard huh? I am into my third week, I still get sore somewhere everytime. Excellent on those push ups! I still find I struggle with those bad boys! Maybe next time around for me I'll hang with Donna - did you see her do those push ups? I agree with the planks, sweat was honestly dripping to the floor!

Yes and why do I focus on her because I'm thinking ok this lady is 60 and I'm 33 this should not be happening. It was time for the extreme set of push ups and I was like "I'm not gonna let Donna beat me." Guess what? She did.

Last week of Push here -- and you guys have to STOP SCARING me about Lean!!! OK? Tell me it's a piece of cake, before I heave my DVD player out the window!

Push 1 here -- those V-shaped bicep moves kill me, as always! Got to all 8 slow pushups -- I've only been able to do 7 before. I'm doing them on my toes on a 60% incline (my dresser) -- when I get stronger than this, I'll lower it but stay on my toes.

Also did Ab Jam -- love that standing ab work!

Part of the problem with pushups, I think, is that for those of us with weight to lose, (ahem, yes, that would be me) we're having to lift more weight. I know, duh, but really! Donna has a great figure, and isn't carrying around any extra pounds (neither are any of the other exercisers). So, it's not just about upper body and ab strength -- it's also that she's lifting less weight!

Someday I'll be lifting 70 or 80 pounds less on each pushup! Such a double-whammy -- working on gaining strength, but your own weight makes it too hard to do the moves that would help you get stronger . . .

Hello ladies

I have been following this thread for a few weeks now and thought i would register and join in the discussion! I am 19 and i am from Australia - i am 5'3 & 139lbs and have lost 20lbs since September last year doing Turbo Jam and walking/jogging on my treadmill.

I am on my last week of Burn (only have burn 3 to do) so i will be taking my measurements on saturday morning.. I have lost about 1lb but i have just started gaining for no reason - i think i need to eat more calories - i am only eating around 1350 - it is so frustrating!! Its great to see how all of you are doing and seeing how you are finding the different stages.. i cant wait for push!!

Do you find it easier to do the push up against the dresser, I am thinking that I should do them against the wall this way I can stay on my toes, when I do them on the floor I have to do them on my knees and don't seem to be able to do very many.

I got this idea from -- 3Tikes? can't remember, it's earlier in this thread (and I'm being too lazy to look . . .) Anyway, it was a recommendation from a trainer that this was a better way to get good at pushups. Instead of doing pushups from your knees (a.k.a girlies), he suggested starting with wall pushups, then moving to 60 degree pushups on your toes, then move to 30 degree pushups on our toes, then to the floor. I thought it was a great suggestion, since the toe pushups really engage your whole core. So, that's what I'm doing -- I feel like I'll make better progress that way.

Im almost done with Lean, and I admit I am a little scared of P90X. I keep reminding myself that I also felt like this when I started CLX. The Tricep kick backs in Plank are more awkward than the rows in Plank.

Ladies, tonight I did Lean 2. My shoulders not only failed but they started burning so bad I had to stop and my husband stretched them and then I could continue. This was using 7 pounds ladies. I have never had that happen before, I almost cried. Then I just felt like puking and was able to continue.

Yes -- and this stage is only if you need to. I didn't -- I went straight to the dresser.

Basically, you stand a few feet from the wall, lean your hands against it, and do pushups at a very shallow angle.

Cardio day today -- I did a Turbo Kick DVD (predecessor of Turbo Jam) and it was fantastic! I am dripping sweat all over my keyboard.

Today was cardio for me too...burn intervals and abs. My turbo jam isn't here yet. I'm not even sure which two I bought from ebay, I know there were a few workouts on each dvd. Everytime I have to do burn intervals, I gripe and moan, but as it's ending I say to myself, "that wasn't so bad at all" so today I talked back to myself and said "then shut up and quit whining every freakin time you have to do them".

I guess most of the people on here don't go to a gym right? It sounds like you guys have tons of these DVDs? I am going to start with Chalean and see how it goes. As suggested to me, I will just supplement with my cardio at the gym a few times a week.

I do all my workouts at home as I didn't like going to the gym after work it was too busy and then once I was home I didn't want to go out again so it is nice to have everything I need at home.

I go to thegym, just as much. When we start P90X we will be doing some of the workouts in the gym. One of the workouts requires pull-ups and my husband doesn't trust the kind in the doorway. I also like idea of using the assisted pull-up machine rather than a chair.

Cardio day today for me - burn intervals & pilates (the ab workout just seems to hurt my back) so i am going to start doing pilates instead to strengthen the core.

Are you guys hungrier since starting CLX? How do you curb the hunger?

Definitely hungrier! Remember, fat is your friend! I'm eating 75% fat, and it's keeping the hungries at bay.

Yes, sometimes I'm hungry during the workout and I start my workout at 6:50am. I don't eat before I workout. After I shower, I'm extremely hungry. Usually while driving I'm eating an apple and drinking water which is around 8:30. Then once I get to work I eat yogurt with granola or a wheat bagel with roasted turkey. At 11, I'm hungry as if I havent eaten anything. I work with the public so I keep fruit in the fridge and nuts in my desk drawer because once I think about being hungry, my stomach will start growling as if a thunderstorm is coming.

Today was Burn Intervals and Extreme Abs. Tomorrow, Lean 2. Not sure what type of cardio I will do because I'm still getting used to lean and I may not be up to it.

I don't feel comfortable with that bar in the doorway either. I watched a video on youtube showing how to install it but I just seems to me that over time it can cause some form of cosmetic damage. I may be wrong but I just don't want to pull up on it. I will use the bands. I don't know if it will be as effective but there is a guy using bands in the video.

I thought about using the bands too. If the gym thing doesn't workout I may try them. The assisted pull-up machine is much safer. I think the bands will be just as effective.

Blondie - I had a big spike in appetite from CLX. I just went with it but made healthy choices in what I chose to eat. I strongly suggest going to smaller meals more often. It will help stay in control.

Longislandgirl - That sounds about right to start

Burn Intervals totally kicked my butt, never made it to Abs. I will make up the Abs tomorrow. I was doing great until the Burpees, did 10 and that was it. Almost tossed my cookies. I was done after that My shoulders are so sore I could cry Even though I am sore as hell, guess what!! I HAVE MUSCLES IN MY SHOULDERS!!!! All the little muscles that Chalene points out the video....they are there!!!

Its funny I find that when I do diets like that, high fat, and high protein I gain weight. I dont think that diet works for everyone but if it works for you great! I tihnk it works for most people, aybe its my thyroid problem again or something, bu I notice that I just need to havea godo balance of all three,a nd not TOO many carbs.
