MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hi Folks,
I'm considering purchasing Chalene Extreme, but I'd like to confirm that there is little to no kickboxing in the program. It sounds as though it's mostly slow, controlled work with heavier weights. I'm an old skool-FIRM fan, so that would appeal to me. I'm just hesitant because although I like Chalene as an instructor, Turbo Jam makes me feel like I'm going to throw my back out or slip my knee out of joint, and I hate it. Oh, and I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.... I live in Africa and have never seen informercials for the program. I've become interested based on what I've read here. Thanks! |

Hi Murray,
There is almost no kickboxing in Chalean Extreme. There are two places, I think, in different cardio workouts (one on one of the "regular" cardio workouts, and one in one of the "deluxe" workouts -- guys, correct me if I have this wrong) that has a tiny bit of punching and knee-lifting drill. Each one is about two minutes long, and there aren't any kicks. So, four minute total across the whole system, including the extra disc 7 if you get it. I hope this helps! I totally love this workout, and hope you will too! |

I think you're right on that Porkfat. Also, I would have to say it's not herky jerky movements. I personally get motivated by Chalean, and am looking for some turbo jam workouts to switch up my cardio days. Today I am going to do Get Lean Intervals and Abs (Disc 7).

[COLOR="Magenta"]Hi Ladies.
Posting before I exercise today since I won't have time to sit down afterward. I am about to put in Burn Intervals which I like. I am in 2nd week of PUSH. Feeling much stronger after a 7 week bout of what I think was "Whooping Cough". It really is a "100 day" cough! Hope you have a great day. It's beautiful here in Augusta where it will be 85 today.... Hey Michgarden -- Yikes, that sounds bad! Hope you feel better!
I just finished Fat Burn Challenge -- all I can say is, 16 burpees is waaaay better than 20 burpeees! (You know me, it's all about the burpees!)I'm about to do the abs segment from Tracy Anderson's Post-Pregnancy Workout (great/tough ab work, a little embarrassing since my pregnancy was, oh, 13 years ago!!!!!) 3Tikes, I love, love, love Turbo Jam! I've started hunting down her earlier Turbo Kick series (the predecessor to Turbo Jam), really expensive, but more intense than Turbo Jam. Have a great day, everyone! |

Well I have finished the 1st week of burn circuit, I also did the burn intervals every 2nd day for my cardio, some of the moves I can't keep up with them so I just slow it down as I don't want an injury. I only took one day off last week will this be overtraining, I did the burn circuit 1,2,3 and then on the alternate days I did the burn intervals.

I actually like the burn intervals but I will have to move on to the recharge/burn it off. I don't like abs but I guess I better start liking them so that I do them. I did burn circuit 1 last night 2nd week but I didn't think I got a really good workout I wasn't sweating like I did the 1st week so I will have to up my weights again and maybe get a weighted vest to use on the lower body workouts.

Hello! I just read through alot of this thread and it seems like Chalean extreme is a great program. I want to start it but I wanted to ask some questions. COuld someone tellm e a little bit about it? How long does it take and is it justlifting or cardio as well? I already go to the gym 7 days a week but dont see any results any more, and I want to start something new. Also, how much is it and where did you buy it? Also, how many days is it andthen when youare done, then what are you supposed to do?
THANKS so much! Any info would help. Also, for those of you who did the entire thing, how were the results? I don't want to pay for it if it doesn;t work. |

Have any of you noticed improvements to your overall posture since starting this program? I don't know if it's because of ChaLean Extreme or not, but I've noticed, especially in the last 2 weeks, that I'm sitting up a lot straighter than I have in as long as I can remember.

I've noticed that I walk more upright.
My weight stayed the same throughout the program up until recently, but clothes have been falling off of me for a while. It's frustrating in a good way. I don't want to buy new clothes now, but I don't want to go with the hand me down clothes look either. This is my last week in Push and now the scale is moving more. I did Extreme Abs yesterday and I spent a great deal of my time laying on my stomach trying to lift my left leg and right arm while frowning. I just couldn't do the moves. I wonder how many calories I burned from the frowning alone. |

I haven't lost either! I am having thyroid issues, but I also haven't been the best eater on Saturdays - I've been allowing myself treats
So I can't blame it on anyone but me, and the stupid thyroid stuff. That's the hardest part, you can eat perfect, but with being hypothyroid, it won't come off I'm still moving on, I really might consider starting all over when I finish the lean phase. I know P90X isn't for me - too long. |

3tikes-I totally udnerstand with the thyroid. I have Hashimotos and am on syntrhoid and my numbers are "ok" according to my doctor, but it is SO hard for me to lose weight. I have never really tried a really restrcitive diet, but i eat pretty well and not too many calories overall in one day, but its just SO hard to ever lse weight.i lsot a lot of weight fmo when i was younger, but I am almost thurty and I am completely plateaued now, so I feel your pain. My weight goes up and downbut never able to lose a ton of weight. I was hoping that this program would work and was going to ttry to improve my diet and try tthis Chalean extreme. Id ont want to buy it though if its a waste.
Where did you guys purcahse it? How does it work? Can someone tellme about it? Like I know there ar ea bunch of Cd's but how long does it take and is it every day? Do you do your regular work out in additino or is that it? POOPIEDO: thatsn great that your clothes are falling off. So the pounds didnt realyl cahnge but you feel your inches went down? that is all that is important realy. Congrats! |

Longislandgirl,
I really do love her program, she is very inspiring and not irritating like some can be. I bought mine at Beachbody Fitness, Nutrition, Diet and Weight Loss Products and Videos. I did buy the extra package - it had the two extra cds in it, I'm glad I did. I think mine was well over $150 - but that was when it was first out, maybe they decreased it? I also used 3 monthly payments. There is a lot of info if you google Chalean Extreme. The workouts are not long - the longest are the burn interval days (I think 46 minutes plus abs which are about 12), and the lean phase workouts are 44 minutes. Here is a quick description: There are three phases, burn, push, and lean. You do each phase for a month and she has a book that comes with the plan and it gives you a calendar of what to do and when. I changed mine a little to work with my schedule for ex: I rest today and Sunday instead of Tuesday and Sunday. All in all, I would buy it again no doubt, and will buy her next strength training workout if there is one (rumor has it there's another one coming). P90X is also a great workout, but for me personally, it's too long.

Do I have to buy anything for Chalean extreme?
3tikes-thanks so much for the help. I am definitely goint o buy it and will chekc out that site, Do you know what exactly I have to buy to get ready for the program? I mean in terms of weights and such, or mats and whatever. Also, did you do your regular cardio or workouts in addition to this or just the Chalean exterme for your workouts? I already havea regimen at the gym and I anticipate that by doing this CLX that I wont have to do as much in the gym, but just wondering.
Even though you didnt lose weight, do you notice any diference in the inches? By the way, what thyroid condition doyouhave if you dont mind me asking? Thanks! |

LongIsland,
When I started CLX (Chalene Extreme), I was already into lifting. I used from 5lbs. up to 30lbs. Some on here even have weighted vests, because our arms couldn't hold 40lbs or more for long, but we were able to lift heavy on our legs. I use my 15lbs the most. There are cardio workouts included - if you can, I'd buy the additional dvd's = they have cardio workouts that you can switch back and forth. It's weight lifting 3 days, cardio 2, abs I think only 1, but most of us add in more abs - one of the abs workout is like 11 minutes so it's not long. Today is my day off and I am going to do a 15 minute ab workout later. I am hypothyroid, I know I need a higher dosage, but have to wait until my next dr. visit in April. More than anything, I am getting tighter everywhere. I have shoulder definition which I didn't have before even though I lifted! My butt is getting higher and rounder too. I really think if I ate 100% clean like I did when I started south beach diet, I'd have lost some more weight. |

3tikes-thank you so much for your info-sounds like youre getting tighter so that's good. I am trying to change my diet so we'll see what happens, even if I improve it a little bit. I really have to stop snacking and eat healthier. THe problem is I love snacking-even on little thigns.
Anyhow, I guess you had a lot of weights at home;. I dont have any becase I go to the gym. I t seems to be a nice short workout, considering I go to the gym for about two hours anight now. I guess I could just do my extra cardio at the gym if I get this progrm and do this in addition to that right? By the way, I dont think I culd do 30-40 lbs of anyhting-good for yoU! |

Lots of the ladies on here do some extra cardio! One thing you will notice for sure - you WILL be lifting heavy as you get stronger. I was helping my hubby the other day lift lumber, I was rockin! If it takes you two hours, this will be like a vacation! I really think you will like it!

You can buy resistance bands - I have them but don't use them, they were included in the extras kit. You will need weights. It was cheaper for me to buy a set and a rack - it came to about $200. Weights are usually $.75-$.99 a pound.

LIGirl, you will either need weights or resistance bands (which you can get as part of the deluxe package, or you can find some separately). The main point of CLX is slow/heavy lifting, really challenging your muscles. This isn't like other programs (like Slim in 6, say) that let you use lighter weights and do a lot of reps. So, if you don't get some heavy weights, or some resistance bands, you won't get the benefit of this workout.
Now, heavy is relative -- for some, that's 3/5/8, and for others it's 15/20/25. And, you'll need heavier weights for Month 2 than Month 1, so you have a little time. |

Thank you! It sounds like its going to be kind of expensive with the DVDs and buying all of the weights, Perhaps, I will try the first DVD with a light set and see how it goes. I have eights, perhaps I will buy 15's and see what happens. I wonder what the cheapest route would be.
Porkfat, how were your results with the CLX? Major difference? |

LongIsland,
Always check your local papers too, I just sold my 5,8,10, and 15 for $35. Also, there is craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums - maybe in your area. Take the easy payment at beachbody! |

As the other people have said you will need either the resistance bands or weights, I have lifted before but because I wasn't familiar with the moves I started out with lighter weights, 5/8/10, I am into my second week and have moved up to 8/10/12 and some 15's. I also have to start being more diligent on my diet as I have been slacking in that area. I am sure you will enjoy the workouts as Chalean is very motivating and easy to listen to and very encouraging.
