Hey everybody! What's going on with everyone? No one joining the X or giving updates?

I'm in Salt Lake City this weekend for a seminar so I don't have that much time to post.

Fear not, I've brought my DVD's and have been pushin play every morning still.

How is everyone else doing? I'd like to see this become a challenge board thread monthly starting in February so we ned to get our numbers going to make it an active thread.

TIme to BRING IT! Who's with me?

Hey there,

Well originally I was going to start my second round of "X" on Jan 1 however I found out I'm expecting my 4th child so I'm not going to be able to follow it the same. I workout through my pregnancies but not a P90X intensity. I still do the DVD's but with much lighter weights and instead of pushing through when I'm about to Bonk I stop and cool down. So I'll keep y'all updated, I did the leg workout day before yesterday and OMG, so much "pain" I couldn't sit on the toilet without whincing....lol.... GREAT workout no matter how many times you do it. The leg workout doesn't even use that many weights or heavy ones. I just ordered Chalene Extreme because those are shorter and I think they will be good for maintaining without pushing me harder than I should go while pregnant.

Good luck everyone,
Jenny

Hubby and I did Kenpo X tonight. Yes, it has taken us 2 weeks to get to get to Day 6, but we are pushing on. Since we have had to take some days off, we aren't going to take the rest day until the end of next week. (Our schedules will probably force a day off anyway.)

Last day of my recovery week today... did the X Stretch and my flexibility in 4 short weeks has improved dramatically.

Tomorrow begins phase 2. I fast forwarded through the chest, shoulders and tri's DVD I'll do tomorrow for a preview and it will definitely be one intense hour. Can't wait until 5am to begin.

WOE: Eating Clean / P90X Round 4!!!

Looks like I'll have the P90X program by Friday and I can't wait to start. I'm afraid, excited and anxious all at the same time, even contemplated not getting/doing the prgram at all for how extreme it is. But alas, my bravery has gotten the better of me and I'll be going full throttle with the program (PLEASE PRAY FOR ME...LOL). My only concern is the nutrition plan. I don't plan on giving up LC anytime soon so I hope the program will net great results with LC eating. Worse case scenario I might have to switch to more of a South Beach diet way of eating. But eating potatoes, bread, pasta and rice, as the P90X nutrition plan allegedly advocates, just 'ain't gonna work for me...

So we'll see...

I will be praying for you! Please do the same for me . I too am actually scared to start this . I ordered mine from ebay, got it, looked at it, and it certainly didn't look new, so now I am waiting for my refund. Then I will just order from Beachbody. I will not be following the P90X diet plan either. I am carb cycling (Crack the Fat Loss Code). It's a little bit like South Beach. Anyway, I plan on starting P90X the Monday after I recieve it! Good Luck!

You change your days to confuse the body. One day you get one serving of healthy carbs, another day you get 2 servings of healthy carbs, and another day you eat starchy carbs after 3pm. I can stay on this WOE because I can eat whatever I want, on certain days, at certain times. Here is this weeks challenge thread:

WOE: Eating Clean / P90X Round 4!!!
Start Date: Jan 10, 2005
Well...I finally purchased P90X - at Sears no less! And here I thought I'd have to order it online. Decided to call around a few places before ording it online and low and behold, Sears sells it, Homeoutfitters sells it and there's a store in one of our local malls called Showcase that exclusively sells all of the "As See on Tv" products and they also sell P90X. THe key though, was getting to the store in time to get it before all of their stock was gone. I called SHowcase last week and they told me they had only three left but were getting a shipment of at least 12 in last Thursday. I called them yesterday and they said they were all out of stock within 4 days. So I called Sears and low and behold, they had 4 in stock so I hopped in my car and rushed off immediately to get there and when I did, there were only three left so I grabbed a copy fast (paid for it, of course...lol) and was outta there! Whew!

So...because I read that the pull-up bar was essential, I purchased one of those too. NOw mind you, I haven't even touched one of those things since grade school. Anyway, I was worried I wouldn't be able to find one I could attach to my door, but I ended up buying one called The Iron Gym, which assembled very easily. It hangs on the door very nicely and very sturdily. It comes with a clip that must be placed on the frame first (no nails are required to hang it on the door) and then you simply hang the bar in place. After all that, silly ambitious me decided to try doing a pull-up and LMAO! I stunk at it...those things are freakin' near impossible to do! For a moment I'd wished I gotten the resistence bands instead as apparently P90X allows you to use them in place of the pull-up bar if need be. But upon viewing some of the workout dvd's, Tony HOrton shows you how to do the pull-ups with the assistance of using a chair. The woman in the video shows you how to do the pull-ups using a chair (she also does them without a chair, keeping right up with Tony and the other men in the video...utterly amazing!). As for me however, looks like I'll be making good use of the chair when it comes to doing the pull-ups.

I spent a few hours last night reviewing all of the dvd's...and WOWSERS! Some of the moves I can't even imagine would even exist - they're just that extreme!

So...as Rod Stewart sings..."Tonight's the night!" I'm taking the plunge and starting the program. I'm ready to work these muscles like never before. Part of me is still torn as to whether I should do the Lean or the Classic version. I'm leaning more towards Classic. So here I go...anxious, afraid, apprehensive, yet excited all at the same time...

I'll report back tomorrow as to my first experience with P90X (if I can lift my arms to type that is!) LOL

Wow, I am so excited/nervous for you! I bought this thing at Target that attaches to your door, like resistance bands, so I hope that will work since I am almost positive I can't do a pull-up (dh still hasn't installed my bar yet!). Could you do a pull-up using the chair? I'm afraid that still won't be enough for me! I think I'll go get the bands this weekend. Does anyone know where I can get them (besides online)? My P90X was shipped yesterday, and I really hope it's here by Monday! I can't wait to hear how your first workout went!

I do have a question for you. I SHOULD do lean because I need to lose weight, but I absolutely hate cardio! I know lean has more cardio for fat loss. My body responds way better to weights. What is the main difference between the lean and classis version? Thanks!

I saw resistence bands (Bally Fitness brand) at Walmart yesterday. So you might want to check there or check at a few other department stores.

It's hard to say whether or not you should do lean. However, I've read that the Lean version is for maximum fat burning/loss so that might be the better option for you. I was all set to do Lean but then thought I might not get the toning/muscle definition I'm after so I'll probably do Classic. Also, the Plyometrics was one of the other resounding reasons I was going to go for the Lean version instead of Classic. Apparently the Plyometrics workout in the Classic version is an absolute KILLER. And judging from what I reviewed on that dvd I don't doubt it at all. But it is supposedly very good for helping with leg definition so I figure what the heck...I'll give it a shot.

I suppose you could always start with Lean and then for the second phase switch to Classic if you're finding the cardio to be a bit too much. I dunno...

WOE: Eating Clean / P90X Round 4!!!
Start Date: Jan 10, 2005
I had planned to start P90X last Sunday but didn't get around to it since I hadn't yet purchased the program. Since if I had started it last Sunday, last night would have been my Yoga X workout, I decided to pick up where I would have been anyway, so I did the Yoga - all one and a half hours of it! WOW! MOst surprising of all, I enjoyed it immensely! LOL This coming from someone without any background/experience with yoga at all besides a little bit of yoga incorporated into other workout dvd's I've done. So I guess you could say I officially lost my Yoga virginity last nighit...LOL REAL yoga experience. It was so calming and was a perfect way to unwind after a long day of work. I loved the soothing background music and Tony's soothing voice. The breathing and poses helped relieve some of my stresses for sure. I was only familier with a few of the moves, Warrior 1, 2 and 3 but the rest of them were all foreign territory for me. Some of them I could do and some of them I couldn't. I lost my balance with a few of them and stumbled to the floor and cracked up laughing. But I surprised myself with some of the moves/flexibility I was able to acheive. I didn't know I was as flexible as I apparently am. LOL

Anyway, will finish out this week as per the schedule as though I had started last Sunday. This way I'll have already gotten my feet with with some of the workouts. And then I will officially start the program this Sunday. Saturdays will be my rest day. I suppose I'll occasionally do the stretch routine or possibly even the ab routine if the spirit so moves me.

And I've decided I am going to do the Lean program afterall and then do the Classic program after the first 90 days.

I'll be doing Legs & Back & Ab ripper tonight...YIPPEE! This should be fun!

So how's everyone else been donig with the program?

I am doing fantastic. Into the second week of Phase 2 (week 6 overall). Doing the classic routine. The lean routine does not mean a focus on fat loss. It is simply less resistance routines.

Phase 2 is Phase 1... intensified. The resistance in Phase 2 really takes it to another level, but it is awesome.

I don't take days off - I do the X Strectch on my "rest" days - and would highly recommend everyone do that. It makes a tremendous difference in flexibility and recovery.

And don't forget a recovery drink. I make my own but it works best at a 4 to 1 carb to protein ratio. Yeah I know... low carb and all. But insulin is not just a fat building hormone. It is also a muscle building hormone. Having that insulin spike immediately after a strenuous workout - when your body is most primed to receive nutrients (during that 45 minute to 1 hour window post workout) makes a ton of difference. I do lower carb the rest of the day.

I started today ! I am doing lean, so I did Core Synergistsics today. It was kind of fun, and pretty hard. There were some things I could only do like 2 of , but at least I tried! I looked at some of the other DVD's and they seem a lot more difficult. I'm not sure which one I watched, but it was like all push ups! Can someone tell me where Core Synergistics ranks in difficulty compared to the other DVD's (in your opinion)?

So I'm on day 6 of P90X. I did KenpoX for the first time last Friday and LOVED it. It was intense but lots of fun. I need to work a little more on some of the coordination of the punches but so far it is the work out I look forward to the most.

Did Core Synergistics last night for the first time and it was't too bad. I still suck at push-ups but I'm getting better.

Wildcat, I'd say Core Synergistics has it's share of difficult moves too. I didn't find it unbearably difficult, however. But there is plank work, push-ups etc., which I don't excel at necessarily, but I do manage to execute the moves.

So far, I'm finding that the hour long workouts just fly by! Last night I couldn't believe how quickly Core synergistics got over with.

I decided to do a 90-day round of the "Lean" program first and then do Classic the next time around.

Okay everybody. I've gotten the P90-X Challenge thread posted on the Exercise board. I'd appreciate it if we can get that thread active to get the interest up in P90-X and can share our experiences and challenges with this program.

P90-X BRING IT! CHALLENGE

This program would be a fantastic addition for so many here stuggleing with weight and fitness issues. The more active the thread, the more curiosity and interest others will show.
Have a great day.
