The Firm workouts
What do you think of the Firm workouts.... I have been breaking into the upper body weight workout but doing lower body weights on my own so far. I am doing low carbs and losing a pound or two a week.... but trying to add or keep muscle at the same time..... would I be better off with doing the upper body weights of a normal weight workout instead of the circuit type weight workout of the Firm? It all gets confussing after awhile... any suggestions?
I also get in some aerobic exercise Monday thru Friday with resting more on the weekends. Thanks for any help you might give. Norene (JeannieH) |

I think they are the best workout system for a female's body. It will completely reshape all of the typical women's problem areas! I started doing it after my mom did the older version in the early 90's. I actually look forward to doing it because it's such a change of pace compared to running on the treadmill. I usually run 2 to 3 miles a day and the firm is still challenging and really helped shape my body. I have not tried the new ones that do not contain the fanny lifter though. I think that the fanny lifter is the critical part of what makes the firm so effective. Good luck and definetly give it a try!

Fat Burning Machine Extraordinaire!

I have some of The Firm DVDs and enjoyed the workouts when I did them but I would never consider replacing regular weight training workouts with one. They're more like cardio to my way of thinking and when I lift I lift heavy.
One particular cardio video I was doing for a while had some moves that were great for my legs. I saw really good inches lost from that. |

We have the luxury of having the Firm studio here where I live. I had several friends that went to the classes years ago but I never joined. Maybe I should have

Have the vids, dvds and love them. You want to be sure to rotate so you get variety, plus the body has a chance to heal. I've seen the best results and definition, plus I feel really good. Between the cardio and weights of their workouts, you do burn 3x more than just cardio alone. Very good articles and research shared by the Benson Sisters and Mark H.

My opinion, the first 3 Firms are the best...you'll laugh when you see the spandex, but the workouts are good. ![]() |

I don't think it matters whether or not you do circuit training or focus on upper body and lower body split workouts. The idea is to challenge your muscles and burn calories, and mixing it up is always a good idea. Personally I think circuit training is great for fat burning, but pure weight lifting also helps burn fat because you're building lean muscle mass. What kind of aerobic workouts are you doing? |
