Dammit!!

Information services will be installing a filter to limit access to BBs, Newsgroups, and internet Email sites in the next few days.

SIGH How am I expected to work under these conditions?

Hope to catch you guys from home... but my surfing days at work are definitely numbered.

I have a firewall at home that prevents hackers like me from getting in

By the way, I got your message about dh...I wonder if they still send out that email at Mckesson once per month...

Our servers are once again overloaded, primarily due to downloaded pornographic images. Please remove all unnecessary/inappropriate content from the servers. All staff are reminded that internet access and use is restricted to business purposes only and violators are subject to immediate termination.

My oldest ds does networking also and said it can be done.. Not sure if it makes a difference that we have a network of computers of about 7 computers most of which they built

Really, the nerve. What are you expected to do all day...work?

Don't employers realize that positive influences such as this BB result in happier, more productive employees? Doubt that will fly.

I'm lucky my internet access has remained unfiltered so far. I think Mustang has had some of the same issues at his office but has found a way around it?

I really don't know how I would survive without my bulletin board reading and yahoo messenger

It does amaze me though at the number of employees that do download porn, etc on work computers.

Bob - that stinks big time!

Ileen - I am a little surprised you came up with the logging into to his home computer from work to access. DMZ (think demilterized zone --it's a borrowed term from the military).

Leenie - that is how my company views it.

Hey Bob! That totally bites! Every now and then my work gets all twitchy about the whole internet thing. But its usually when the server crashes because some moron is trying to download and resend MOVIES to everyone!!! It's usually porn, which always amazes me since our ISP has a proxy server that blocks all "un-Islamic" sites! Don't know how they get it! So far only chat rooms are blocked by our company, and sites that host chatrooms, and Instant Messengers such as MSN, Yahoo and ICQ.

Ilene - I believe you are talking about a DNS. And you can configure your firewall at home to gain access from outside. But don't ask me how!!!!

Leenie and Lite - My company doesn't care if the employees are happy! They care about the cost of bringing the server back online when these morons crash it. Plus someone is ALWAYS downloading a virus and then the whole network gets infected! I came in today to find my Virus scan had found, yet another, worm virus! And yeah, porn at work!!!?? And what gets me is that then they email it everyone! What in God's green earth would make anyone think I was interested in that crap. And that too, in an Islamic country!

Hope you don't mind me butting in .. I don't post on this forum, just came over to read a bit. But I wanted to say that even though we have filters at my work, this is one of the few boards I'm still able to log on to. For some reason, the filter doesn't pick up bbs (www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs, etc.) So maybe there's still hope!

Yeah, what do they really expect us to EARN our paychecks? I mean seriously I thought just showing up for work entitles me to it, let alone actually performing tasks. LOL!

My boss is actually pretty cool...I only see him like 2 times a month, and he's always asking me random questions about LCing.

The only think I dislike about my job is that fact that they block lots of stuff on the internet. I've always been good about saving that stuff for 15minute and lunch breaks. Oh well. Can't have it all, I'll take the boost in pay and working with good people any day over unmonitored internet access and 60 hour work weeks.

Just to fill you in on my secret... My work blocks this site if I log in at atkinsfriends.com but if I use the name lowcarbfriends.com it lets me in. I don't know what you all are using, but it is worth a shot!
