Low Carb Hoisin Sauce
Just Googled "low carb hoisin sauce" today and it took me to this interesting site. I used it to make Mongolian Beef and it was great. Also discovered that julienned bamboo shoots have NEGATIVE carbs. Really - the nutrition label reads 0 carbs and 2 gr. fiber in a half cup. I'll have to check my Atkins book to confirm this!

Even when accurate, the foreign food's carb count usually already has the fiber deducted. So in the case that Linda had listed, they would say 4 or 5 carbs depending on how they would choose to count the 4.74 carbs. And apparently that is for the whole can. So a serving (depending on what size they called a serving) might be listed as 0 carbs.

I just found the recipe for the LC Hoisin Sauce last night and made it just a little while ago.I'm marinating some boneless pork chops. Once I cook them, I'm goin!g to sliver them to add to LC Egg Foo Yung. It's amazing the delicious food you can create that is low carb and healthy. Thank you to all of you who develop, tweak and share your recipes

Could almond butter be used instead of the peanut butter? Or would that change the taste of the sauce? My almond butter only has 2 net carbs per 2 tb serving.

I wish I knew the answer for you, but this is my first foray into the LC Hoisin sauce. And the only time I ever ate/made almond butter was last year and it was definitely not LC. It was addicting and so delicious but it sent my blood sugar to new heights lol
Can you tell me how the LC almond butter compares to PB? I'm very curious now. |
