That is an average size Delicata squash.

mahyde 10-31-2006 06:11 PM

Is the meat bacon?

mahyde 10-31-2006 06:12 PM

It is turkey bacon as a matter of fact.

Kevinpa 10-31-2006 06:21 PM

BTW these count out at just a hair over 4 carbs per 1/2 cup serving.

Tweaker Geek 10-31-2006 06:52 PM

Oh my gosh, Kevin! We just finished up a delicata squash and now I'm going to have to get another. This looks fabulous!

notfatforlong 10-31-2006 07:36 PM

Sweeteater 10-31-2006 09:01 PM

yum! Great story! :D

mamagiff 10-31-2006 09:19 PM

I've got the ingredients - I'll be making it this week!

Wine2 10-31-2006 09:31 PM

I was wondering if these squash need refrigeration because at the store they're in the middle section of the produce section or is that area cold, too?

SSin-Deb 10-31-2006 10:47 PM

Hi Wine2 ~ I asked the produce fella the other day when I was in buying some Sweet Dumpling Squash. He said to wrap each squash in a paper bag and to set them out in the garage.

He said the fridge is too humid for the squash. You want them cool and dry. The bag helps keep them dry.

So - that's where mine all are now. **

Wine2 11-01-2006 08:42 AM

Thanks, SSin-Deb! Thank goodness! I wondered how they'd fit in fridge with everything else in there!

Pompom2 11-01-2006 10:48 AM

That looks very delish...

HappyisNow 11-01-2006 10:58 AM

I'm making this for dinner..gosh..I had my squash in the fridge, but will get out my paper bags..

I think I will add some green pepper to this, too.

Kevin: See..you didn't even need to do this 4 languages, like all the other instructions we get..;) A picture paints 1,000 words.

CarolynF 11-01-2006 05:21 PM

Just finished making these for dinner..Gosh, they are the very best..Added some green pepper and used Real Bacon Pieces..for ease..Yummmm.

To be honest the 1st time I made these I sat down to describe the process and thought it did not do it justice, so I decided to do it this way.

Glad you like them.

lcmiller461 11-02-2006 03:40 PM

I'm usually not one for squash, but this I gotta try!

I can't believe I missed this post when it was started. Thanks for reviving this post Kevin.

Hi there,

I have been browsing here for a while now. I had never heard of this squash until I saw some of your recipes. I got one last week. I cut it up like that and just fried it in butter till it browned.

I am telling you all, it is the best tasting squash I have ever tried.

Kevin, Thank you for all your recipes!! I will definitely eat this again.

mamagiff 11-26-2006 06:00 PM

I am out of squash or I'd be making this tonight! I've made it several times and we just love it!
