Medi Again? YES!

Hi Everyone!

It's my 2nd time with Medi and I have just finished Day 3 and I feel ok. I have been hungry and nauseous. Hoping to turn the corner soon with hunger subsiding. And I am looking forward to finishing this year strong with everyone. I am taking all my vitamins and the Appetite Suppressant. I have 49 days before one of my baby girls gets married. I am focused on getting fit!

The first time I lost 25 lbs in 6-7 weeks. I got confident and didn't finish to goal. BIG MISTAKE! Now I'm all in to Goal.

I gotta say, I'm a little discouraged. Everyone else eating, nothing I can eat, didn't bring anything with me....blah!

One of the reasons I Failed...

I just thought about this. This morning I was reading through the forums and all the different programs that can help you lose weight. It struck me that reading different weight loss programs can set me up for failure. Some of them are able to lose their weight eating foods not allowed where I am right now. I am determined to be focused. I want to live a healthier lifestyle and NOT SABOTAGE myself. FOR ME I need to stick with Medi and commit to the entire program all the way. I know that I CAN eat anything I want. I am free to make any choices I want at any time. I choose this. To love myself differently. To make good choices and know I am always in control and I want this small time sacrifice for long term gain.

I am destined to succeed!

Absolutely, I have had to come to terms with the fact that I can't eat the same as my husband or the guys here at work (I'm the only lady here). My husband always apologizes because in the past I would be craving whatever he was having. But now, I feel like my mindset has completely shifted. I can see something that looks good but it's not on my brain for days on end like it used to be.

Thanks :)

Thanks Mell and Janet for your encouragement! I didn't give in!

It was my fault really, I knew I was going somewhere and didn't plan ahead. Lesson learned! I find it funny, how I spend more time thinking about food (what I can eat, how much, etc.) when I'm on this diet, then when I'm not. .....Maybe this is another lesson I need to learn, spend more time thinking/ planning what I will eat when i get to maintenance! KEEP IT OFF!

Absolutely. I know this is going to be a life-long deal for me. I have accepted that I will never be the type of person that can eat anything I want as much as I want and not gain weight. But even when I'm not dieting I had food on my brain at all times.

AND MEL... I have always eaten the same as my husband and I just can't do it. He can handle all the food and I just store it everywhere.

Exactly. My husband works hard labor and he also like to work out - where as I work a desk job and drag my feet to get 20 minutes in on the treadmill a few times a week. But, since starting the program the AS and large amounts of meat have REALLY helped. This is the first time I've done a low carb program without cheating at ALL the first two weeks. I really hope I can stick it out and become healthy.

You can stick with it Mel!!! Especially when you see results. Don't look at the results weekly as much as monthly....because it will all average out!

That's a great point. I used to weigh daily, but now I only weigh at the weekly check-in so that is huge for me. But just as exciting as seeing the weight loss, seeing that my blood pressure went from prehypertension/HBP Level 1, down to well in the normal range was extremely satisfying. I tend to lose motivation if I don't see numbers moving, but that's also why I decided to purchase the packages instead of paying weekly. I feel that it adds one more level of accountability and I need all the accountability I can get!

Oh, I agree! I did the package deal as well so I would stick with it...especially when I get in the maintenance stage. I want all the coaching I can get! to KEEP IT OFF! The first time through Medi I was worried I wouldn't get the weight off, I was at 169 lbs. Now I know that's the easy part! Keeping it off is the challenge! Portion control is what we are talking about, because I like real foods, not stuff loaded with fake stuff, my stomach doesn't do well with the fake sugars, etc.

I know friends are on WW and lose more than 1-2 pounds a week and it's cheaper. I thought after 3 weeks I would lose more than 11 pounds. I'm supposed to eat 500-800 calories of protein a day and I'm only eating about 450-550. They think if I eat more protein I'll lose more? I hope so!

How has everyone else done the first month or so? I guess if I know how others did week by week I wouldn't feel so bad.
Hey Mom, just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. Have you tried eating more protein and are you feeling better about the program?

Hi Everyone. I've been reading through your posts and would love to join in. I've been on Medi for one month exactly and lost 9.5 pounds. My total weight loss is actually 23.5 because I started on my own back in January but needed/wanted their help. I'm learning lots and will share my biggest "Ah Ha moment" so far...

Two Saturdays ago (weekends kill me) I was having cravings for carbs. I wanted a specific kind of kolache for breakfast and went with my husband to get it. They were out of what I wanted so I end up getting a donut.

I eat the donut that isn't really great, return home and start tracking my breakfast. The donut I ate was 500 calories and not even great tasting. LESSONS LEARNED: log before I eat not after and never settle if I'm craving something.

Everyone is doing so great, lets keep it up.

Hi Kathleen! Congratulations on your weight loss and progress!

I feel ya on those cravings. I haven't had a chance to go get my phentermine refill and I felt so hungry last night. I try to remind myself of all the times I've cheated and that nothing every tasted as good as my brain convinced me it would.

What I also did different this time around is that I started on a Saturday instead of Monday. So instead of it feeling like the end of the week, for me it feels like the beginning and I wanna start the week strong! Seems to be working so far!

Weigh in tomorrow, I always get anxious the day before. Really hoping all the hard work pays off....I want to see 2 lbs. off, any more will just be bonus!

Last night was hard, seems like people went out of their way to eat all the stuff I can't have, right in front of me...Blah!

Hope everyone has a good day today!

Last night was really hard for me too. The pharmacy won't release my rx because they said the information is incorrect, so I'm going on 5 days with no appetite suppressant and yesterday afternoon I really began to feel very hungry and annoyed that I couldn't get a hold of the clinic. I had to have a burger. So I just made the patty and wrapped it in lettuce with pickles, cheese, onions, and mustard. I'm glad I didn't technically cheat but I definitely went over my protein calories for the day. I had to resist eating another. I'm glad I didn't eat anything I'm not supposed to, but hopefully going over doesn't affect my weight loss too bad this week.

Hopefully today is easier for all of us!

Sunflower, I hope todays weigh in brought you super success. I feel the same way when I go in, this is a process for sure.

Mel, the protein burger was a great choice! I’ve had a couple myself, from home and out. I hope one day I don’t even miss the bread at all. Also, I hope you get your meds soon….

So when I started last month I was drinking a glass of water each time I took my pills from Medi. The glass I use holds 3 cups of water, so three times a day almost equaled their recommended intake. Well I slacked off a little and really noticed my hunger going up. I got back on track and before breakfast and lunch both I drink the glass of water with my pills and whoa its helped. I do have to frequent the ladies room more often but I can tell such a difference on my hunger level. Are y'all getting your water in?

I generally get in at least the 100 oz of water they recommended, and I also drink 2-4 cups of green tea. Haven't been missing the juice and soda as much as i thought I would, but the protein shakes help with that sweetness factor.

I actually have never been a huge fan of traditional burger buns anyways, I've always preferred the sandwich thins and really it's because I can taste more of the meat. I just had an intense "burger" craving last night.

Luckily, they worked out the issue with the pharmacy so I am going to get it as soon as I get off work.

I'm also going to get the mid-week shots. Do any of you feel like they make a difference?

Blah :(

Well so much for the hopes for losing 2 lbs. this week...lost 4 oz. My water was up. But what had me almost in tears was the lady there said I coundnt eat red meat but maybe twice a week. I will gladly eat less of a lean hamburger in order not to have to eat chicken 24/7. Has anyone else been told this? Good grief, this diet is hard enough without taking more stuff off the allowed list! When I asked why, she couldn't give me a real reason except that they think it's not good for losing weight.

Hi Sunflower, so sorry you didn't drop as much as you hoped! It really sucks to work hard and not reach your goal. I gained 2lbs in water at my last meeting. I read that caffeine and diet soda can do that. I haven't had soda of any kind since I started, but I do like green tea and even though it's good for burning fat, it can also cause water retention.

I have been craving red meat more than usual since starting, but my counselor also said she prefers us to eat mostly white meat.

Back to the weight loss, from what I've read in previous threads, it's common to stall out for a few weeks and than have a big drop. I'm very impatient when it comes to that and it's usually when I start to cheat. Push through, try to drink (even more) water, and maybe get some extra cardio in this week. I've only gotten exercise once this week, so I've gotta do it tonight and tomorrow =/

I started Medi in Jan 13, lost 45 pounds, fell off the wagon in May due to finances, gained 30 back and re-started in Nov 13. I have found that the mid-week shots help tremendously. They help with cravings as well as your metabolism, so I would do the combo shot twice a week.
