Hi Debbie,

Kj (Kathy) here. As long as I can afford it, I will stay in maintenance - at least for about a month and see how it goes. Unless they insist that I stay at the higher weight which they consider to be my goal weight. Then I'll have to go it on my own so I can get to where I want to be. I'm going to be armed and ready with information to state my case at my weigh-in next week and see what happens :-)

As for what I'm eating. I, too, eat the same things everyday. I do experiment with the meat - often having whatever I cook for the family (taco meat, even meatloaf, chicken alfredo without globs of alfredo sauce, etc.) Plus I really don't care for veggies much so my veggie intake is pretty much limited to a salad. Once I hit my goal, I'll start experimenting a little - like making chicken salad out of my chicken breast.

Breakfast - 1 hard boiled egg and canadian bacon (usually 3-4 slices)

Lunch - Chicken breast or Hamburger Patty, a low-fat cheese stick, and cucumbers with Ken's Lite O&V dressing (love that dressing)

Mid-afternoon - Low fat and low carb yogurt

Dinner - Chicken breast or hamburger patty (whichever I didn't have for lunch and whatever I'm cooking for the family) and a salad (healthy portion) with lettuce, tomato and cucs and my lite Ken's O&V dressing.

Snacks - almonds (sometimes covered in sugar-free chocolate)

Once a week, we usually go out to dinner. I generally cheat on the fat content but not the carbs. For example, at Outback, I get the Alice Springs Chicken and a salad - no veggies and no potatoes. At Chili's, I do the same - I get their version of the Alice Springs Chicken (can't think of the name right now) with a side salad. I do indulge and generally have 2 glasses of wine when we go out.

I have an underactive thyroid so this is the only diet that has worked for me and because of my thyroid, I'm really scared to add more food in and try different things. It's working right now and I'm hesitant to change anything.

I noticed you restarted in February. How's it going for you? Our starting stats are very similar - I'm also 5'3" and my starting weight was 184. I want to get to 130, clinic wants me to stop at 140.

Second Time Around - Week 2

Hi All.

I found this board looking for recipes, and I am thrilled to have some company on this journey!

I did MWL in the fall of 2012 and lost very quickly. I felt great and was about 10 lbs away from to goal. I had a fall that tweaked my knee, and then the holidays came...and I never went back to the diet or the clinic. Unfortunately, I went back to all my old habits and all the weight came back plus another 10 over the next couple years.

In the meantime, I've tried a few things including WW, which is a great program. It just doesn't work for me. There's not enough individual accountability and for me, the weight just comes off too slowly to keep me motivated.

So I'm back to the clinic and back on the program. I have been doing relatively well, considering that I had 2 major events during week 1 -- but I figured that if I didn't join then, I'd just put on more weight.

Down 7 lbs in week 1, which is great, but the combination of water, muscle, and fat was not good. As someone said early in this thread, I'm going to focus on the fact that I lost 7 lbs regardless!!

So, glad to be here and hope that we can actively support each other as we keep getting healthier!

Hi all - It's Day 23 for me! so far I really love the program, but I haven't lost a lot of actual pounds yet. I lost 6+ pounds the first week, all water.....week 2 I lost 5 pounds of fat but gained water for a net of almost 0.....week 3 I lost 2 more pounds of fat but gained water again.

My coach says not to worry, as long as I'm losing fat - and I'm definitely fitting into clothes better, but of course I want the 'number' to go down! Has anyone experienced this?

This week I'm being extra careful of sodium and avoiding pork and red meat just to see what happens!

Losing fat is GREAT!

When I lost with MWL in 2010 my butt went FLAT and I felt lean. You can see pictures by looking at my gallery I think, I have an album on here somewhere. I went from size 14 pants to size 8. Then later I regained it all...all the fat cells plumped back up again. UGH! I am in size 14 again.

It is IMPT to do maintenance, girls. We need to do this right and I gotta get to a clinic again.

Oh no! I went to look for my "album" that was posted here in the LCF site for years and it is gone. But if you click on my avatar you can see a picture of me at 137, the goal I reached in Sept 2010.

haha Debbie - that's a pretty flat butt! I'm not complaining about the fat loss, for sure - just wondering why I keep gaining water.

I've been on plan all week, but it's TOM so I'm certainly going to gain water this week....maybe one of these days I'll get a giant woosh! LOL!

Went today for my midweek B12 shot, one month weigh in coming up on Wednesday!

need a buddy!!!!

Hi. I will start medi weight loss this Friday. I really need the accountability. This is my second time. I quit after five weeks due to finances, etc. but I am ready to start again and get serious. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to post on a regular basis?

Hi Guys, this site is great - such great advice and recommendations. I just started and would like to be successful. I am feeling hungry on Day 3 but everything I read is that it gets better at Day 5. I am about 50 pounds overweight so have a ways to go. Good luck to everyone. I was glad to find some people starting around the same time/day/month as I.

Hi All-I am doing a restart on Monday 4/14. I lost all my weight back in 2011 but slowly gained it back after starting an office job and sitting all day and stopped exercising. I am now working part time from home so I have plenty of time to really focus on losing. My issue is I get REALLY bored with the limited foods and lack creativity to keep me interested. I would like to see examples of others meal plans for inspiration.

Hello all, I am restarting Medi....day 3. The 3 longest days ever..I first did this diet in 2010, did great, got to my goal saying I will keep it off and I'm never coming back. Blah. I am back. I did not gain it all back, but enough to know that if I ignored it I would gain it all back. I gained less than 5 lbs. a year....but after 4 years it adds up. I wish all of you best, you can do it! And if your families are anything like mine, theres gonna be a lot of food tomorrow, pray for me, as I am already pouting about having to say "no".

Sunflower -Are you going back to the clinic?

Hello all of you recent to the site! I have had a really stressful past month and have kept starting and restarting and not sticking well with any particular plan due to lack of time to plan. A couple more weeks will be full of grading student assignments, but I should be able to focus on starting about Thursday this week. Mainly what I have done in the past 3 months is maintain the weight, but added inches, probably due to lack of exercise and therefore fat taking up more room that toned muscle. Not good. I need to be back on plan!!!! I have a closetful of spring and summer clothes, but they are about 4 sizes too small. Need to work on this STAT!

This is a great time to continue to check in! Let's do this!

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 25, I live in Dallas, and am 354 lbs as of Saturday. I'd been having trouble finding a medically supervised WLP until I came across Medi a few weeks ago. My main reason for starting is that I want to start having kids in a few years and want to be as healthy as possible. My first week was ok. I definitely had less energy than usual but I didn't feel lethargic - just kinda neutral. I didn't feel like I was really losing weight and I didn't want to weigh myself before my first weigh in. I was also feeling pretty anxious because I found out my BP was a little high and I was nervous about possibly having diabetes. I started MWL last week on 4/12 and went to my first weigh-in on Saturday. It really gave me a boost to find out I lost 13 lbs! (3 lbs fat, 10 water) and that my blood pressure went down a bit. Also found out I am just within the prediabetic category, so I really feel like I started this right before serious medical stuff started happening. I'm really happy I found this support group so we can lean on each other!

No loss week2??

Anyone experience this? Week 1 lost 8.5 pounds. Week 2 =0, why??? I'm now in week 3 and my scale is saying no loss again?? Why? Just because I'm eating veggies and fruit - doesn't make sense. I measure everything I eat! Help!

Could be water retention or TOM as Debbie mentioned. Also with the amount of protein we eat on this programs it's normal to get backed up. If that's the case, try a mild laxative.

Thanks for all your replies.

They said its not water retention. What is TOM? I don't need a laxative either so I'm not sure what's going on.

Any other ideas?

Do you mind if I ask how much weight you are trying to lose? I've been reading some other threads and some common causes could be your body rearranging itself and holding on to the weight for now, or it could be you're not getting enough protein in which case your Dr may up your daily protein calories. Whatever the case, I'm sure that if you keep following the plan and exercising you will overcome this plateau and make a big drop again! It certainly is disheartening to work hard all week to find out that you haven't lost anything. That is usually when I start to cheat but I am determined to stick with it this time!

If I lose 50 I'll be happy and if I lose 100 I'll be ecstatic! I went for a wegh-in today and lost 2.2. I'm just disappointed since it's a costly weekly investment and I'm out of work right now. I know friends are on WW and lose more than 1-2 pounds a week and it's cheaper. I thought after 3 weeks I would lose more than 11 pounds. I'm supposed to eat 500-800 calories of protein a day and I'm only eating about 450-550. They think if I eat more protein I'll lose more? I hope so!

How has everyone else done the first month or so? I guess if I know how others did week by week I wouldn't feel so bad.

I lost 7 lbs. 2 lbs. was water, the other 5 lbs. was fat! Very happy, I hope to lose 2 lbs. a week from here on. Longest week ever! Glad its over. Still can't have fruit, but I can have my veggies, yeah!

Hang in there everyone, we can do this!
