10-day visits with Medi?

I know it's a business, first of all....let's just get that out there.

But today I went in without my dh who is no longer doing the program with me. We just can't afford for both of us to do it, and he has found something else to try on his own. (Keep in mind that I have to drive 1 hour and 15 minutes, one way, to get to my closest Medi clinic.) I am struggling.....but have recommitted over the last couple of days. One of the struggles is money. One of the others is boredom with breakfast (which I have some strategies for now).

We have been un/underemployed for over 3 years and while I want to improve my health, I can't always afford the visits. I asked if I could come in every 10 days instead of every two weeks and she interrupted me and said, "Let me just stop you right there. They are WEEKLY visits. No."

Maybe it was just the way she said it, but I felt very deflated. Does anyone else go in less often than once a week (during weight loss phase)?

I made an appointment for 10 days from now anyway!

Cricket, I'm sorry that the clinic wasn't willing to discuss options with you. I haven't consistently gone every week since I've started. I travel, I have meetings, etc, and I can't always schedule 1/week. Sometimes I go 1/2 weeks or so.

There were weeks when I couldn't make it in every week either. I just tried to make sure I got in once every two weeks. My clinic didn't have a problem with it at all. The counselor actually told me to just make sure it wasn't more than a month between visits, because then they charge a restart fee. DH & I were sharing a car at the time, so I had to schedule medi visits around his work schedule, and that wasn't always possible every week.

Hi Cricketleg,

I agree with Jessica1129. I am now only in my 3rd week, but my clinic has no issue with scheduling the appointments out. My next appointment is 10 days out due to travel and they had no issue. Frankly, I feel like we are the customer, so we should dictate when we can attend/afford the program.

Do what works for your family and don't let anyone allow you to feel deflated! Remember...You are in control of your destiny and they are not!

Good luck!

My clinic is accomodating to schedule

I live 95 miles from my clinic. And I travel on biz. they actually offered to give me 2 weeks worth of AppSupps since I couldn't make it the next week. I didn't ask if I would be charged, but assume I would. In any case, if I can't make it, they were absolutely fine with it. They understand how far I have to drive and THEY were the ones that suggested, after I'd been 3 or 4 weeks, I could start coming less often. 6 other girls in my office go to this clinic and we all LOVE it. 15 lbs off in 2 weeks. What's not to love?

I am on vacation this week,so scheduled a 2 week f/u appt, but they tried to charge me 60 dollars just for the rx for the second week in addition to the regular fee. I thought that was ridiculous.

I have gone almost every two weeks since I've started. I've done it to save money also. I keep track of my weight at home and I have stayed on plan. I really go to the clinic for the AS but latley I havent even needed them anymore. I think the shots kind of gave you a but of an incentive to go in weekly but now its like am I really paying $70 for pills and to find out how much I weigh? I'm not saying the counseling is not helpful but when you've been on it for so long I think you can go two weeks and be ok. Just my opinion though.

I completely understand and am considering the same...especially since my scale lately has correlated well to the scale at the clinic. Accountability helps too but i can do that here!

I'm with everyone else here.... I travel for work. Some months I'll make it in once every 7 days, and some months it's every 10 or 11 or sometimes 14. My clinic is totally fine with it. I'm sorry you've had a different experience. It IS expensive, and we're the customers, after all. I wouldn't even ask them about it. It's a schedule thing, plain and simple. Your schedule is your business!

After 5 years, I go in when I know I need a push to get it back together...if I am struggling with the WOE. My clinic has always been accomodating, never an issue. I know what they would prefer, but they also know ME, and know what works for me. After reaching goal and keeping it there, an occasional slip up here and there is understood and they are very accomodating with my crazy schedule.
