Hi Everyone! I've enjoyed reading your posts but haven't had the courage to post anything myself. Figured I'd give it a try!

Anyone taking the non-prescription AS? I haven't tried it yet (back after a long break and am struggling with getting into a groove again) but am considering it since the old habits are harder to break than I'd like to admit. I'm interested in knowing if anyone has experienced any negative side effects. Thanks for "listening"!

Hi back2, and welcome.

Posting wasn't so bad, now, was it?

Glad to have you join us.

ASM, I am on the prescription AS and I rather like them. I've had no side effects and rarely have had hunger pains. But they do something different for me...

They actually seem to be literally suppressing my thoughts of food, dulling that cerebral craving...kind of like there's a nothingness in that part of my brain that used to be over stimulated by the sights, smells, pleasures and experience of eating food or even looking forward to food.

Weird, but right now it's working.

I have done LC and Medifast before without ever taking an AS and was able to lose weight. So, it can be done both ways.

Morning Everbody!

Day #6 for me and I had the best night sleep last night after adjusting my third AS to 3pm instead of 5pm.

We have a lot of weigh ins today and tomorrow and I anticipate a lot of success, so let us know how you're doing.

Can anyone share with me what their meals have been?

What's worked?

Anyone eat the same thing everday, like me???

I eat the same things! Just started experimenting with Dakotas and lettuce wraps. Since I have a hard time eating enough. The variety has helped. I adapted the medic lettuce wraps to my taste and will make them often. My husband and son liked them so that is a bonus

Ooh! I forgot about lettuce wraps. Can't wait. So looking forward weighing in.
Beaching, have been sticking with boiled eggs, chicken and low fat beef. I am ready for variety.

Beaching, bluekate, and chocolatefan, you guys rock! Just reading your posts over the past week has lead me to a mental recommitment to Medi following the holidays. I was allowing little cheats here and there, but no more! Back on track thanks to you. Congratulations on your losses this week. You are inspirations!

What I learned in my first week...

Days 1-4 were a little hard adjusting to low carb and 500 kcal, but by day #4 I felt great and began to look forward to my weigh in. If I had to do a week #1 again, for whatever reason, it is toatally doable.

For those of you lurking, or perhaps researching as I did for several weeks, I encourage you to consider Medi.

I continue to get both shots, B12/6 and will continue through 4 weeks then I may consider dropping the B6 as an experiment.

Nutrition: As I mentioned before, I have been eating the same meals each day. I like the meals and it's been easy. I think I'll stick with my breakfast of 5 egg whites and a veggie breakfast sausage as I love how filling this meal has become. Lunch I'll continue w/ my ham roll ups and will add a cup of salad. Dinner I will primarily do grilled chix on a salad, occasionally make the surpise mashed potato (cauliflower) and lean protein to change up.

I'm not sure if I'll encorpaorate additonal protein snacks or just add them to my meals as I am used to eating 3 x day and finishing eating by 6pm.

My calorie goal remains 500-600, but I have to add 100cal for each 30 minutes I work out to that day.

I like Zero Vitamin Water way better than Zero Powerade which tastes so salty to me. I have been a champ at getting all my water in starting with 8oz first thing upon wakening and 8oz half hour before bed. The secret is water. I drink a half cup black coffe in the am and nothing else but the prescibed water.

AS (appetite suppressant) I finally figured out my 3x day AS schedule and it has worked well. I like the AS and so far, have no side effects.

Exercise I cut down dramatically from my daily, moderate to intense 45 minutes to 30 minutes of moderate activity every other day in week #1. Now with the additional 100kcal/day for exrecise, I will start daily and see how I do. My consultatnt highly encourages exercise to facilitate faster fat loss.

Emotional Medi has been my secret besides Hubby. I had several occasions where I could have shared my plan but I found I worked around them perfectly. I have a supportive hubs who has been my greatest cheerleader. He continues to have wine and eat/munch how he wishes and we have been just fine.

I have accepted the fact that this is going to take time. I expect 3-4 months to reach goal. I think I am prepared for being patient, although I want to be further along in my goal. But I had a great time for the past 3 months and now I can commit to the next three months. Mostly, besides purging my thoughts here, I try not to think about it, just move forward through my day.

I also rely on hearing from my Medi friends as it makes me feel as if I'm not alone. So, thank you!

Let's rock week #2!

Bookworm

So glad to hear you were motivated by us newbies.

Ya know, barring having to do Medi through the holidays, my philosophy is that I have to follow this plan 100% because I know what happens when we start to tweak and deny.

And I am sooooooo NOT an all or nothing type person.

Congrats everyone on your week 1 weigh ins! You all did fantastic! I'm restarting after being off plan (but maintaining at least) since October. I can't wait to see the scale moving again!

beaching I love your posts! I think my week was pretty much like yours, but you did much better than I with the water! I'm still having a hard time getting it all down. Also, at my center, I was told I should have 600-650 protein calories for week one. This is a restart for me, so I wondered why it had bumped from 500, but I didn't question the extra 150 cals! She even said that if I was totally starving to eat a bit more protein--but only protein. I didn't though. I stuck to 650.

I think what was different for me too this time is that I came back mid-week for a booster shot of the B12. I just need all the help I can get. I'm not on prescription AS, but am taking the Stay Slim and the Fat Burners.

I am hoping I can keep it up. The salad tonight tasted fantastic, and it's just good to be back on track. My holiday season was COMPLETELY out of control. I baked by butt off (well-actually, I baked more of my butt ON!), and we just had caramel corn and cookies and creamy treats and great meals and pasta and breads and cakes and pies and you name it! And I'd have easily 3 desserts a day. Just out of control. So much food around and the cravings were unbearable. I felt bloated and horrible, but I just. kept. eating!

So, I knew it was time to get back to Medi. Get all of that out of my system and start fresh. This has been the ONLY plan that has ever worked for me. Quick results which are so important for motivation, and support!

I just so happy to be back on track. Thanks for all of your help on this journey!!

I didn't weigh in today, had to work late. I will post when I do. According to home scale, it should be 7-8 lbs. I am so proud of everyone and happy for you!!! I am also very thankful for all you guys share.

Hi Chocolate,

I would feel comfortable with 600-650kcal, that's still drastically low, especially for your BMI. For example, I'm not sure how tall you are but that may be a certain % of your BMI where 500-550 is the exact same % for me at 5'1.5".

Get confident with that, you'll be just fine.

As for water, you may want to try some tricks and rules. For example, I have a rule that upon waking I drink 8oz of water that's been sitting at my bedside all night. It's ready to go. Then perhaps you could tell yourself that you can't eat or go to bed before you drink 8oz of water. I find that after drinking just water (no diet sodas, no crystal light) that I actually become dependent upon it. The last trick I just discovered is that I enjoy the diluted taste of Zero Powerade in water, 1:1.

If someone told you that maximum fat loss was dependent upon how much water/day you drink, would this change your way of thinking about water?

Morning Everybody!

Dining Out Last night hubby and I went to one of our regular, favorite restaurants. Home

(Blue, I know you are from RI, so you may be familiar with Parkside)

Look at the dinner menu if you have a moment.

I used to have 1 or 2 "Ooh La La"s, a delish martini. I always shared an appie and of course some warm baked bread and dipping oil before my meal.

Last night I ordered a Perrier w/ lemon and lime. 2 cocktail shrimp followed by the Tenderloin (petite 4oz) and Portabello salad. I slid the lovely grilled fingerling potatos off to the side after complimenting their savory appearance. I brought my own Ken's Light Italian dressing and had a fantastic meal. Hubby had a martini, bread, crabcake and a chicken dinner w/ "pomme frites". Everything looked good, no so wonderful, but I just told myself that it will all still be here when I can manage it later after reaching goal.

I went home and slept well and woke up happy.

You see, that's the difference when you're in control- you wake up loving yourself instead of hating.

I was having trouble getting all of my water in for a while but I've found that adding a little flavor towards late afternoon gives me that extra push to get it all in. I drink 1 33oz smart water for my electrolytes, then refill it 2 more times. Usually around my 3rd bottle, I slow down on my consumption so at that point I add a little Mio in it and that does the trick. Also, I like to have diet Pepsi with my dinner, so I tell myself I can't have it until all my water for the day is finished.

This is great! Good for you! It's funny that as we move along, it does become easier to pass on treats--and like I said in another thread, good food will always be there, and we can figure out how to enjoy it in moderation after we reach our goal. I do plan to enjoy it--but hopefully not the way I did over the holiday (2 pieces of cake, after a big carby meal!)

Regarding water: Good ideas!! I will certainly work on starting earlier in the day with it, but I don't like to drink very late at night (don't want to have to get up to go to the ladies' room!) I don't sleep that great as it is, and once I'm up, I STAY up. So I try to avoid it. But I'm going to try to power through and get it all down today!!

Sue, I've never been to Parkside, but have heard great things about it....I'm going out to Dinner on Sat. with some friends, it will be my first time eating out, since I started Medi....My down fall is always bread and apps, but I have to stay on track....Loving the fruits and Veg.

propel packets like the crystal lights are good too... unlike crystal light the propel has zero , zero everything! i mix those in my water bottle and it just gives it a little taste of something so im not drinking plain ol water! also this being my first week, I've noted when i get those cravings for something sweet i'll save my diet sodas for then (pepsi is my favorite!). Yesterday was day 5 of my first week and the first time I felt the need for something sweet... however going into the grocery store i was able to walk right by everything bc i am down weight already and feel great... nothing tastes as great as getting thinner feels!
