Trish, Reneed, Betty, and Janet - I am so glad to see you all here!! I am going to be doing this on my own also. I visited the clinic and just couldn't afford putting out the $$$ start up again after already paying them $$$$ in the past! I know I can lose following the plan, just gotta stick with it. I did well for 11 days, lost 7 1/2 lbs.....then something came up and I fell away. We have a potluck after church and I plan to be back on MWL plan starting Monday. PLEASE check in here! I have a crazy fulltime schedule at work and it was hard to do this plan on my own without the support of others who understand the 500 calorie, low carb plan. I have a wedding to go to in 13 days, and another in 4 wks. My DH looks so amazing and I want to be looking better, or at least looking like I feel better about how I look quickly. Need my MWL buds to cheer me on!! We CAN do this!

We let poor self-image put us in such bad places emotionally that it makes us very unhappy. I pray that we learn to plant the seed into our lives of loving ourselves no matter what. I believe the right way of thinking will give us the return that we all looking for. Let's love ourselves no matter what.

Let's plant the seed of love, joy, happiness and of course success on this journey.

Betty - Yup....but also want to be realistic that I gave away clothes I used to wear at this size and have a closet-full of lower sized clothes! Hate spending money on clothes I don't plan to stay in that long! Oh well!!

Well, Day 6 and still no weight loss! Betty, I am taking the stay slim, and it is helping with cravings I'm just frustrated about not losing.
Hi Deb! I also have a wedding to go to in 4 weeks, and I was hoping to be down 10-12 lbs by then, not unheard of in my last medi journey. Oh well, I did go in to the doctor on Friday for a regular checkup and apparently I was down 9 lbs from my last visit 6 months ago, so that is something to hold onto, and my BP which is usually high was in the normal range. So there are some things to celebrate.
I agree, that support is the key and I can't spend the $$$ on the visits- we have huge medical bills from my husbands cancer treatment, and we now have a daughter in college (how did that happen??)!
We can and WILL do this!

Trish - If you are exercising right now, your body may not want to let go of the weight. Since just starting don't exercise, or replace the calories in protein that you burn off. Never have your protein intake go less than 60 gms (I think that is what I remember).

DAY ONE TODAY....

No Exercise, but lots of stress! I wonder if that could be inhibiting it? Catering an artist reception for Fernando Ortega (Christian musician) on Friday and a luncheon for 150 on Saturday. Slipped and had a glass of wine tonight after ironing 17 banquet tablecloths (the event coordinator forgot to order tablecloths so I spent all day and most of the night doing that today- luckily I had them! approx. 45 minutes per tablecloth!!). But it was worth it. What a week it will be!! staying on track despite that one slip.

Cortisol is released with stress and that can make you hang on to weight.....

Hi Trish,

Don't get discourage and please don't weigh yourself more than once a week. I threw the scale away last Monday. I get too disappointed when the scale isn't moving and give up.

That glass of wine may just jumpstart your lost.

Betty

Good job Betty! I have had a crazy work schedule with little free time to check in here. But I am down....not as much as I'd like to be, but I have lost 9 lbs so far. 183 now. We can do this!

That's really great. Are you going to the clinic or doing it on your own? I just can't do it without going to the clinic. I think paying 80 dollars is a rip-off but I need the accountability that I get with going there. If only I didn't need that I could save myself a lot of money.

Keep up the good job and yes we can. It takes determination and strong desire to truly be happy with who you are.

I really miss the old crew. I wonder if anyone really kept their weight off. I would like to hear from someone on how they did it. Anyway have a great day.

So still at same weight, but have not been doing medi. I really need to stop starting and stopping. I think that is throwing me off. Also think I have started peri-menopause!! Ack! 2 days late, but not panicking yet!! So back to day one. Husband is traveling which makes it a lot easier. Don't have to cook! My teenage boys would be happy just eating pizza and spaghetti, two things I am not fond of so works for me! Went out yesterday and just had a salmon salad, no dressing. So getting back into the groove. Hopefully this time will stick. I really can't go on like this. I hate feeling my back fat!!! hahahaha! Wedding to go to next weekend and can't fit into any of my clothes. I know I won't lose the 10 by then, but hopefully will be down a little so I don't feel like a bloated balloon.
I am making a promise to myself to check in everyday. I think not checking in has been a big problem, especially since I am trying to do this on my own. $$$ and a 45 minute drive makes going to clinic almost impossible.

Trish!! I started full-time at a new job 2 months ago and checking in daily has been impossible. I will check in here from now on daily, as long as you do too! OK?!?!! Betty, you too please! I was down 9 lbs. WAS. Then I had a wedding to go to last Saturday. I'd already put on about 5 prior to the wedding and I did feel thicker in the middle than my dress would allow (but thankfully it is Fall and it was cooler) so I bought a high waisted spanx type thing and wore a blue/black/white designed sweater unbuttoned over the dress. I matched my husband's suit and shirt and tie. But DH looked SO handsome, and I felt big next to him. He and my DD said I looked fine, but they love me. Thankfully I wasn't in any photos or anything!

I am like you, I have lost and regained the same 7 to 11 lbs many times in the past few months, almost monthly. After great effort then I lose my willpower and go off. I don't know if it is a hormonal thing too, definitely a stress related thing. But none of it is good, period! I want to be healthy and I am not getting there doing this behavior over and over again.

Trish...please do check in. I will too! That is truly what helped me the most in the past!!

Betty - I too cannot afford to go back to the clinic. I paid them big bucks over 1 1/2 to 2 years in the past and it was great, I was successful, but I did not continue to go after reaching maintenance. Totally my BAD and why I probably regained....but I thought I could do it on my own. Little did I know at the time the toll being paid against my body with sinus illness, 2 jobs, and grad school at that time. Hindsight is 20-20.

Maybe I should check in to that option again. I will discuss it with my DH.

Hi Debbie and Trish,

I have been doing really well up until last Friday. For some reason last week my body was extremely fatigued. When I got home from work I attached a bag of some baked cheese booty things and let me tell you not the small bag either. That made me feel a tad better but I was still very tired. We ordered pizza from this local pizzeria that loads up the pizza with a lot of veggies and meat so I eat the toppings from that. Once I finished that I just retired to bed and slept like a baby. The next 2 days I was bloated and felt really heavy. It was probably from those darn cheese booty things. I did Zumba yesterday and feel a lot better but I still think tomorrow's weigh-in is going to be a gain but I can only blame myself. I'll post tomorrow with the results.

Betty

Carbs make me puff up like a marshmallow. Especially the processed empty calorie ones. It is a yucky feeling. Our bodies feel attacked!

Trish....I'm here.....where are you friend?!

Having a hard time with the WATER!!! I know how important it is. anyone else have a menu they can share? I need to get to grocery store. Want to get into ketosis!!

Wow Trish!! What a great plan! Just be sure you are not too low on calories with all that exercise, cuz that can make you hold on to weight.

I want to follow YOUR plan! Do you have tips for how to buy, wash, prepare shiratake noodles....do you like those? And what is, where do you get adobo sauce? What are thinntrim? Walking outdoors? On treadmill? I'm so excited for you!

Hi, the thinntrim are in the grocery store. I should have said Sofrito, which is a tomato based sauce with only 1 carb per tbsp. they also have a cilantro base which has only 1 carb per 2 tbs. I buy it in the Mexican section of the grocery. Shirataki take some getting used to...you have to rinse them (and hold your nose! ) like spaghetti only NO CALORIES! I also rinse them with some ac vinegar to get the smell out. No need to cook, just rinse under hot water, or I put them in the microwave with a little of the sauce and some parmesan and presto! Don't forget to cut the noodles though, they are VERY long and you could choke on them, no joke!
I have been going over my old medi calorie chart to see what I did when I lost all that weight so I am following it to a "T" as much as possible. trying to limit dairy.

So here is my "geek" moment for the day. Walked 2 miles so far (I usually have to break it up because of time), and I started chanting:

Off the couch
don't hesitate
you don't have to
clean your plate
Every step you take
will bring you closer
To your goal weight....

I've become my own cheerleader

Menu for today:

Bfast: protein shake- used eas- tastes better cal 110 carb 3

Lunch: 2 Chicken burgers grilled with lc cheese cal 290 total carb 2

Snack shiratake noodles with parm and sofrito cal 25 carb 4

Dinner: chicken burger (130 cal 0 carbs) OR 2 chix dogs (120 cal 2 carbs)

Can you guys post some menus? Especially if you are losing!! I want to be a LOSER!!

Still have 1 more mile to walk today and you know I will be singing my little chant in my head!!!

Hi Trish,

I intended to post my results but things have gotten really crazy lately. I was pleasantly surprised to have lost 1.4 pounds. I know it doesn't sound like much but to have seen a lost instead of a gain I wanted to dance. So, I walked out with a huge smile on my face.

I am still having issues getting through the weekends. I get thrown off my routine and end up eating too much carbs. I have to evaluate what is going on with me so that I can make the necessary adjustments.

How are you doing with the program? What issues are you having if any?

Betty

Hi , I am new to the forum. Been lurking for couple weeks now. I love reading all of your post. I am on my third week of acute. I have lost total of 11 lbs since Sept19. This is the first diet that I have stuck with. ( probably because the cost), and I do need the accountability. I hope to reach my goal in a few weeks. I find my self at the grocery store looking at ALL label, even on stuff I can't eat. Lol.So glad to have found the site and hope I am welcome here.

Christy, and congratulation on your weight loss so far!

Betty I have been having trouble with weekends too. This weekend was no exception. We went to parents weekend to visit my DD in college and spent the night in a hotel, ate out, ate in the dining hall. Very hard to stay on track. I did okay, not great but okay. To that point I had gotten into ketosis and lost 2.8 lbs. now I am afraid to get on the scale again . Will do tomorrow after a day of following on the plan. However, it was great to see her (a freshman) it's been hard not having her around.
It's also hard because I am the ONLY one in the family with a weight problem. My family eats like linebackers on a football team and no one gains. As a matter of fact one of my DS's is 14, 5'10 and 120 lbs!! Ack! I have to shovel the food into him to keep his weight up! I have to say I have never had that problem to deal with. Sigh....
Sorry about my whining. I felt so good on Friday before we left. I want to feel that again. So back at it.

Weighing in Tomorrow!

Hey guys! Tomorrow is my first weigh in with Medi Weight Loss!! Im super excited because I feel like i did awesome this week! I'm really hoping for at least a 7 lb loss, and i've seen on these boards that's definitely possible!

I love reading all of these inspirational messages from everyone! Makes me think I can REALLY do this and lose the weight for GOOD!

I'll post tomorrow on my weigh in!

Is anyone else finishing up week 1?

Hi Jlsinclr! I am just trying to get through week 1, and have been for the past month! But please post your weigh in. It will inspire me for the rest of the week! Great job on getting through the hardest week of all!
