Hello Medi Buds! Again, thank you for the prayers for my brother! I went to Florida and was with him during his last two days of hospitalization in ICU and the next four days at home with restarting his life again after 15 days in ICU. We absolutely know how blessed we are that he is doing so well, after what all his body suffered during that time. He is going to outpatient physical rehabilitation as of yesterday, but I saw a great improvement just the previous four days. If God allowed me to be a nurse (for just over 30 years at this point) for the only reason that I could help with my brother and be able to explain what was going on to my family, then I am so thankful! Gained about 3 to 4 lbs during the previous week.

Time to get it off and get ready for high school reunion that will be in about 6 to 7 weeks!! I am inspired by YankeeMom27's 20 lb weight loss in six weeks. That start weight is pretty close to where I am right now. I know it is doable!!

Imisean
Lately I have been hula hooping almost daily! It gets my heartrate up and keeps me flexible, plus it is fun. Raining here today, so no biking or walking outdoors today.

Aww thanks Fit2010! I think it's the first time I've ever been told I inspired someone! I, too, have a class reunion coming up in 6 weeks- I'm 13 pounds from my goal. The thought of going back home looking like I did at 181 lbs- tired, listless, uncomfortable in my clothes and even my own skin was the motivation I needed to get back on track. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to exercise like I did the first time I did Medi- I was working out 2+ hours a day. Now I'm happy to get a half hour in between my stressful job, 2 kids and a crazy household, but I'm committed to see this through including Maintenance (which I didn't do last time and think was my downfall). I keep repeating to myself- Medi is not a diet, it's a way of life!! Have a great day everyone- we can do this!!!

You are doing fabulous, Heather (YankeeMom27)!! Wish I lived in FL and away from these KS allergies (weeds/trees/grasses) that has be hacking and sneezing whenever I am outside right now! I miss that formerly I was jogging and biking. Maybe in a few weeks! Again, YOU are an inspiration to me, girl!! I am a repeater to MWL and I know I can do this...it is SO time! You are right: "Medi is not a diet, it's a way of life!!"

I just wish there were more posts on here..when I first joined almost 3 years ago, I found it was a lot more active. Glad that I can still find the recipes on here, but I liked to read how others were doing on the plan and found it very inspirational. So 'm going to start posting more myself and my journey so far and hopefully others will too! Have a great day on plan!!!

Heather, We all need to hear from each other! I'm glad you will be posting more. I have been doing week one again this week, yesterday at work I had 1 1/2 pieces of pizza (not on plan for week one) but still managed to be in small ketosis this AM because of choosing protein at other times all day. It is important that I again start exercising at this point. I need to hear that others are posting too!! Hang in there...you look great!

Class Reunion

Heather and Deb, I too have a class reunion this summer which was my motivation to join MWL. We haven't had a reunion in 15 years, so it will be great to see everyone again.

High Blood Pressure

Good Morning:
I just started Medi Weight Loss, I also just discovered I have developed high blood pressure.
I started blood pressure meds this week as well.
Anyone know about the effects of Stay Slim or Fat Burner on blood pressure? I am not allowed to take any of the prescription suppressants.

High Blood Pressure

I don't take the fat burners. They upset my stomach. But I do take the Phen supplement (not all of the time). I am on BP meds and my BP has been going down.

Realized that I won't be able to make my appt tomorrow because I have to work..hoping I'll make it through next week without my combo shot..it seems to help curb my cravings. I just received my order from Netrition, ordered several low-carb products that I can't wait to try!!

Just getting started :)

Hello everyone. Congratulations to you all wherever you are on your journey.
I am on day 3 and feeling much better. Day 1 was fine, Day 2 was awful (headache), and today was much better. I am off for the summer so I have a lot of time to devote to me right now. I can't wait to see how I do this week I am joining this forum to keep me motivated. I really enjoyed reading through old posts.

Week Three For Me, Too

Hi, All! I posted on the newbie board when I started, but there's no activity there. Am glad to see more chatter going on here. So far, so good to this point. Week one was hard but worth it, and I'm not struggling too much with the plan at this point. If anything, my biggest issue is all the meat. I eat meat for sure but also LOVE plants so I tend to have less protein and more veggies/fruits. Am working to change that and it's a process. Anywho. Hope to get to "know" some of you better on this thread!

Hello 3rd week ladies, do you mind me asking how much your BMI changed over each week?

I thought I would post my results here, since I never thought I would lose this quickly (I did Jenny Craig and it took me 3.5 years to lose 35 lbs). I actually weighed in at 166 at my doctor's the month before, so I really think that I started there. These figures are all from the Tanita scale at the clinic.
This morning my scale said 134.4:

June 17, 2013 137.5 lbs. -1.5 ↓ -25.70 27.8% 38.0 lbs. 73.0 lbs. 23.6 110/63 77 bpm

Feb. 19, 2013 163.2 lbs. 0 37.5% 61.2 lbs. 74.6 lbs. 28.0 120/68 64 bpm 34.50"

Sorry I can't get the format even. It goes in the following order: Date, Weight, Total loss to date, % body fat, lbs body fat, lbs water, BMI, blood pressure, pulse, and I had one week with an abdominal measurement.

I missed several visits due to vacation or being too busy, and don't always take the appetite supressants (I no longer qualify for the prescription ones anyway), and feel like it is worth it.

I also didn't start to exercise until 3-4 weeks ago--am doing one lap around the block (1.35 miles), typically takes me 18 minutes now, I wasn't measuring when I started, but I am sure it was much slower. I still can't run a full mile without stopping, but am getting there.

So overall I am pretty happy! I just know now that if my weight starts to increase, I will be able to get back on track fairly quickly.

Way to go dtg1990! Very inspirational! I started on 5/1 and have been losing every week even with an injury that has prevented me from doing cardio. The strange thing is that I see on here some people saying that their weight loss has slowed down and mine has actually been consistent with anywhere from 2- 2.5 lbs (this week was 2.6) per week. Although I didn't have a big loss the first week (2.0 lbs), which I somewhat expected since I don't eat meat (or poultry or chicken or eggs, etc.). My only problem was that this week my BP was high, which is so unusual for me. As a result, I couldn't get the prescription for the appetite suppressant. I didn't feel like I had a racing pulse or any of the side effects, but so it goes. They gave me the Stay Slim and strangely enough, I felt like I had a racing pulse as soon as I took that. Anyone else have issues with the AS or the Stay Slim?

I don't feel like I have a racing pulse, but when I took the appetite suppressant I felt the same as when I would take sudafed for a cold. No elevated blood pressure either.

My weight loss has varied, pretty quick the last week, but apparently I had lots of fluid on board that I lost recently. It will likely bounce around if I keep weighing daily, which I do anyway.

I am not going to take the stay slim, because it has lots of caffeine and I just spent 2 months getting off of it.

Let me know how the stay slim works for your appetite, if I stall with my weight loss and can't get past it and it works, I may give it a shot and have to wean myself off of caffeine again.

Hey All, I am restarting again TODAY!! I had some major setbacks in April and May with my husband's surgery, and have been slowly falling off the wagon. Back up to 172 after saying I would never be up in the170's again
Today is the first day of the rest of my journey to health.

Barbiege0 - You are in the tough phase right now. Carb withdrawal. About week 2 to 3 it gets easier. I'm not looking forward to my return to week one....which I plan to start a week from today. Gotta plan. So starting Sept 1st. Hang in there!

Read the 19 pages of posts here....even if people are not currently checking in very frequently, there has been lots of encouragement and wisdom shared on this site. Perhaps if we keep it going again, they will rejoin the conversation! (I cannot probably check in daily though due to new job....so please just stick with it!)

Hi to all,

This is bittersweet for me. I'm proud that I've had the courage to come back but sad that I needed to. I successfully lost 62 pounds on Medi in 2006. I never made it to my goal weight because it felt so good to have lost that much weight in 6 months. Then life happened and I used all those experiences as excuses to eat everything that I knew wasn't right for me. Oh, at first the weight wasn't coming on so I pushed and pushed that envelop until here I am 15 pounds away from my highest weight ever. I am so embarrassed to be at this weight. I think that people are looking at me and saying wow she really gained her weight back. It makes me not want socialize with my friends and family.

I started today but I don't go to the clinic until Wednesday. I don't want to wait until then so I started today. I'm going to go all the way this time and pray that I never have to repeat this again. I know what doesn't work for me and I need to accept that.

I will post again on Wednesday with my actual numbers from the clinic.

I notice that the forum is not as active as it used to be. It was so helpful before because the words of encouragement and seeing other's successes were so important. Hopefully, we will start posting more that the summer is over.

I look forward to communicating with my new medi-family.

Betty

Hi Everyone! Started Medi again (2nd time) and had my first official weigh-in yesterday. I lost 8.5 lbs. What can I say about week 1...HUNGRY & TIRED! That is the bottom line for me. Yesterday, after my appt., I had a vegetable celebration. WooHoo!
I'm happy to have found this site and some friends on the same journey. I'm focused on staying accountable!

Today I am going out with my daughters because my oldest is trying on Wedding dresses...gonna be fun and I am so thankful that I have moved on to veggies. Definitely more choices when we eat out for lunch!

So, getting frustrated. Have not lost a single pound. I am trying to do this on my own, but using their products which I bought on their website. I really don't want to have to go to the clinic and pay the 70 bucks for each visit, especially since they don't give injections their anymore. Any advice? I am on day 4 of week one. I started, didn't lose, and restarted last week. Still not an ounce gone! Drinking water like crazy, not going over 700 protein calories and only about 12-20 carbs a day. I can't think what I have done differently, maybe my body needs those carbs? Have I hit starvation mode? Sorry, had to vent. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Betty, I am right there with you. Embarrassed, frustrated, angry at myself. But we are HERE! So kudos to you for taking charge and making the changes you need to. You have given me hope that this works. If you read my earlier post you will see that I am struggling right now...so I am very grateful for this forum too!

Hi Trish, We can definitely do this. It's hard but I use my last success as inspiration in hanging in there. It's day 6 for me and if it wasn't for the Stay Slim I don't know if I could do this. I am not hungry so that helps to stick with the 500-700 lean protein. I can't wait to eat a fruit and veggie on Monday.

If you didn't order the Stay Slim please get them. Hang in there and have a great remaining weekend.

Betty
