Interesting degree, Deb. What are your plans?

I started my Master's at WSU but they switched the class times after a year and it conflicted with my teaching position, so I changed to an online program. I love to learn and keep up, but I do NOT miss writing papers!!

Back On Plan

Well...I am back after a long month hiatus. We went on vacation for spring break early April and then we had a death in the family and I could never get it back on track. I am going back to the clinic tomorrow for a weigh-in. On my home scale I am up a few pounds, which I expect. I really need the weekly accountability.

I am committed to getting and staying back on plan. I must lose this weight. We have all these fun things planned and I am tired of my clothes not fitting properly. I keep buying these smaller clothes and I can't wait to start wearing them!

Anyway, I will post my weekly weigh-ins no matter whether they are good, bad or ugly. . I congratulate everyone on their loss and really appreciate the encouragement and posting of menus. That is extremely helpful.

Imisean - thank you for posting your honesty! You sound extremely determined! I love it - very inspiring! (Also, so sorry for your loss.)

I need to stop getting on the scale every day. But after a few days, I've already lost 6 lbs. I'm shocked! I don't feel all that great though. lol Head hurts pretty bad and I'm weak and a bit loopy. lol

I've been slacking posting --- and even reading, and my weight loss has stalled due to it!

First week: 7lb loss!
Second week: 4lb loss!
Third week: 2 lb water gain, (ate 2 corn tortillas!)

I have a BIG question: have ya'll experienced a knot where you get the injections? My clinic is only doing them in the hips -- and I only have two (lol)... and so getting twice weekly shots, I feel like they're helping, but I also am hurting on one side, because I don't feel like it's worked it's way out completely (and I normally leave bruised anyway).

So, I've been favoring my left hip for the past few injections because I favored my right one for the first 3-4 and that's where the knot is. I had a bruise, and it's gone -- but the knot (and pain) isn't.

I'm going to bring it up at my next injection -- because I'm hoping they could move to my arm, or thigh for a bit to give my poor hips a rest!... but in the mean time, I want to see if any of ya'll have experienced it.

Thanks (Sorry for the rambling! I'm trying to get this out before our FINAL state testing day!)

Thanks eptexy. I weigh myself daily too and it probably isn't a good thing. I had my weigh-in last Friday and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I gained 1.6 lbs during the month I was off plan. Definitely not as bad as I thought it would be.

Snickers...mama- 50 pounds is incredible! That's very inspiring even if this past week didn't go as well as you had hoped. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Kudos to you!

Yankeemom27 keep up the great work!

I am back at it! Have a great week everyone

I'm "in" again. Began again 2 days ago and down a little over 4 lbs....happens at the beginning. I just gotta stick with it. Staying away from carbs is a decision, and it helps to be back on plan!

Huge prayer request. My brother, Steve, is in ICU in Florida where he lives. He is in very serious condition with multiple complications as a result of medications his doctor had him on in the past 6 months, and then 1 1/2 weeks ago he had been given a third medication (for depression/anxiety). Last Thursday he had 3 seizures, and after the third one they transferred him to ICU and placed him on the ventilator and sedation to manage his airway and prevent further aspiration. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. Yesterday I learned that he has a deadly condition called rhabdomyalosis which means his muscle tissue has been breaking down and that put him at risk for kidney failure because the by-products are filtered through the kidneys (his CPK was up to 5,000; normal is less than 100). Meanwhile, he has developed encephalopathy (brain injury) so that when sedation is being weaned down, he is not cognitively able to follow commands due to the brain injury (probably from the rhabdomyalosis)....therefore they could not take him off the ventilator today because he would not be able to cough or take a deep breath if told to do so. I'm very concerned. My parents are driving cross-country from Arkansas to get to him and should be there Wed AM. Please pray for them. I am thankful for Steve's girlfriend, who really loves him, and has been with him in the hospital lots.

New to the forum and MWL

My name is Leslea and I've just started (Tuesday) on my second week of Medi. So far so good. Lost 9.7 lbs my first week. I'm really loving the AS because I'm not hungry or even interested in food. Really like that feeling.

I've read through all 18 pages of the forum. Being new I wanted to get ideas of what to eat and just information about the program, which I did. Everyone is so motivating.

I'm leaving a vacation in a couple of weeks and want to stay on plan for the whole 10 days. My past vacations have been all about food, so this is really going to be different and not easy, I'm sure.

I really liked the post that list what the person ate for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. This really gives me ideas of what else I can try. Being only week 2nd, I'm still pretty much plain proteins and just had some lettuce for lunch today with my turkey patty.

I got started on MWL because my Sister has lost almost 35 lbs in 12 weeks on this program. She is an inspiration to me. She has done SO well...

Leslea - I'm new, too! Just had my second weigh in. I have read through all the posts as well, but there aren't a lot of people posting much anymore. I was thinking of adding onto or starting a new thread with the Energy In (Food) Energy Out (Exercise) -- do you want to join me? I hold myself accountable with my journal, but thought maybe if I did it here I would be doing it online as well.

Amber - it is to bad there aren't as many posters anymore. The lady that started this one "beaching" was really inspirational with all of her posts. I know she got a new job so life does get in the way and sometimes we just can't keep up with everything. I know I don't like to even turn my Ipad on sometimes when I get home because I sit at a computer all day long at work.

I will be glad to add to your new post if you want to start one.

How is your second week going?

Leslea

Leslea I can't imagine doing this program without this board. I found so much inspiration with everything, from meal ideas to just pushing yourself when it seems too tough. Maybe we are the next wave of people here?

Just added the new post: 2013 Energy In (Food) and Energy Out (Exercise). Pop on over and let's get that thread going!

Week one I lost 2 lbs (I know!) and week 2 I lost 2.2 lbs and 5 pounds of fat! So weird that I lost more week two. I am drinking way more water than I ever have and my TBW went up about 1 1/2 lbs. Don't know how to fix that and hoping maybe that was just that particular week. I'm either in moderate or large ketosis every day and the clinic said large was good. That's a first! (LOL!) How about you? Your sister is an absolute inspiration, but so are you! Good job on that week one weight loss!

Big Temptations tonight

Just checking in after a dinner out with the girls to celebrate one of them just getting married. Loved the company and fun, but when they sat two baskets of hot fried mushrooms right down in front on me I thought I was going to have to get up and run away. These are one of my favorite foods. I haven't told any of them I am following MWL. None of them are big food pushers so when I said "No thanks" they just passed them on. THANK GOODNESS.
I ordered my club soda and grilled chicken salad and got caught up in the fun conversation.

As the Beck's book says, I straighten my resistance muscle. Whew...

How is everyone else day going?

Amber, I will jump over to see how your new thread is going.

Good job Leslea

You did great by not diving into those mushrooms. You will feel great about your choice today and you did something for you that was great! Congrats!

BTW what is the "Beck's book?"

Leslea - Thank you for prayers for my brother in ICU....he has been on the ventilator for the past 8 days and they are hoping he wakes up enough that they can take the breathing tube out later today or in the next few days. His pneumonia is starting to respond to the antibiotics.

Leslea - My brother was able to be removed from the ventilator on Sunday, the 19th, and he is doing well with oxygen by mask. He is confused and weak. I am going to see him out of state Thursday for several days. Thank you so much for your prayers!! God hears!

Fit2010...I am so glad your brother is getting better. I hope he makes a full recovery and will keep him in my prayers.

I had my weigh-in today. I am down 1.8lbs. . It is still really tough to stay motivated. I am happy I am down, but I wish it were quicker. I guess I have to keep my eye on the prize.

Thank you for your kindness and prayers, Imisean.

Are you exercising? I know that I was advised to keep protein to 500 calories if not exercising (but that was when I was going to the clinic, this round trying to do on my own).

Deb, so glad to hear about your brother. He will still be kept in my prayers.

I keep my protein calories to 500-700 and have to admit I haven't been doing any intentional exercise since I started MWL. However, I've been helping to remodel a porch on weekends and that physical labor is better than any workout I would do on my own.

Well I better get off this site and get to work.

Have a good day.

Deb - glad to see your brother is doing better. Definitely stay positive!

Leslea - saw on another post that you were down 4 lbs and over 14 in two weeks! Congrats!!

Me? Down 2.8 lbs. this week for a total of 7 in three weeks. May not be a lot for others, but considering I'm a vegetarian and hypothyroid it is fantastic. Plus I'm down 7.4 lbs. fat.

discouraged already

Hi, I am new to MWL, I am already discouraged, I went on Tuesday for my 1st visit, I am not starting until Sunday due to previous plans, etc. I have already started cutting back.
My disappointment comes because, the day after I paid my $268, the office calls & tells me that they no longer give the free mid week b12 shot! I never got one free anyway!! I said I was not happy with that & they should have told me when I paid my money the previous day, is there some way I can call & complain to headquarters?? I will call ASAP, also they called asking me for money to pay for my b1-b6 shot that if I wanted it I had to pay ahead for the next visit. I felt so sick to my stomach, I almost called the bank & cancelled the check!!
What would you do?? I need help before I can even move forward with this company! I will go for my 1st weigh in just to get my blood results for sure. Unless I can get them without going??
Advice please..Thank you

Hi all, I am back starting again and going to spend the evening catching up on recent posts. Just had to change my stats (up 9 pounds from my last post many months ago) and my avatar to reflect my gain. Not a good feeling, but I know I need to get back to basics --cut the carbs, stay in ketosis and keep checking in here. I have learned the hard way that choosing carbs kills my weight loss. I don't go to a clinic, so going to do my own version of a week one. Good luck to everyone out there!

Thank you

Hello again, Thank you Barbwired for your support. I did not start today, I am still doing good & counting my calories but not medi style. I was going to go for it today but my husband was all about us grilling, etc. I knew it would be hard to even try to start so tomorrow is my day!! I go for my one & only free mid week shot tomorrow, so I may ask to push my appointment out until next Tuesday instead of this Thursday.
I know I will do great during the week, the weekend is going to be hard!!
I plan to check in each day, esp starting tomorrow. Did you take the AS? I plan to take it, I have taken phentermine in the past without issues.
I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day but I plan to sleep in & start later in the morning. Wednesday will be hard due to I have to leave home at 6a.m. to be at work by 8a.m. What is this I see posted about chicken broth? Do I heat it up? use it only when really needed? I already decided I can stick to low carb but I only get 620 calories so if I do get real hungry I plan to stick to low carb, or do an extra shake, I got a sample from the clinic, I wonder if going over your calories just slows the weight loss? I don't plan to go over 800, but they did not give me a range like I see others got, wonder why?? I will close for now. Thanks again

I am starting tomorrow as well. Every clinic is different, so you are bound to see differences on what people get for calorie ranges. I am doing it on my own, and I find that once I get into ketosis I am MUCH less hungry and food becomes less and less important to me. It is not unusual to get a headache or feel tired the first couple of days. I drink a lot of powerade zero and if I get really hungry I drink a cup of chicken or beef broth. Get plenty of rest and get ready to see the numbers get smaller on your scale

It is not unusual to get a headache or feel tired the first couple of days. I drink a lot of powerade zero and if I get really hungry I drink a cup of chicken or beef broth. Get plenty of rest and get ready to see the numbers get smaller on your scale
Hello again, it is Tuesday morning & I had coffee so far, I did add creamer.
I am going to really stick to it the rest of the day, I am having eggs for breakfast, lunch will be deli turkey, & supper will be chicken breast. I am drinking all my water, & will add in powerade zero & chicken broth. I have not decided on the AS yet, if I do take it at lunch, I will only take 2 pills today. I am still debating on weighing in due to just starting today, I want to hear my blood work results on Thursday, should I call & let them know that I don't plan to weigh & just get my results? Have a great day!
Pray for the newbie!! I will check in before I head to work this evening.. Talk soon.

Hi all I know its been awhile. I have been trucking along but I need to buckle down to get lose these last 12.6 pounds. I got a little to comfortable last week but I want to jump back into it before i go completely off track. I haven't been to the clinic in about 3 weeks. Don't think I need to go and I don't want to spend the money. But I do want to buy some bars I haven't been able to find low carb protein bars any suggestions?

Hi All,

I haven't been posting or reading regularly. I have my weigh-in on Tuesday. We had a cookout on Monday and I had some cocktails. Started back with the plan on Tuesday.

Fit2010 I haven't been exercising. Maybe that's what I really need to do to accelerate the weight loss. Do you workout regularly?

I have a girls trip in a month and I would love to lose 20 lbs by then.

Have a great day everyone!
