Fit2010- I have been using the egg whites from the carton - 1/4 cup of egg whites with a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese, diced grape tomatoes and basil mixed together and heated in a pan to make an omelet- it is really delicious! Works out to about 120 calories and is very filling!

YankeeMom- Yum! That does sound good! Thank you!!

Jessica- Wow! Thanks for the confirmation...I suspected an allergy to soy. The soy oil just lingers in my body and disturbs my sense of smell and taste too. Yech!!

Deb - we had no idea soy was the cause for him. It seemed pretty random. He had to have his tonsils out when he was 5 though, and they did allergy testing at the same time. Sure enough, soy is his only food allergy. We avoid it as much as possible. Hes miserable anytime he has any.

Hi, everyone! I've been feeling kind of blah lately, so have been kind of hiding in my own little world. I've been reading. Just not posting. Thinking I must have been super hormonally imbalanced because I was having migraines again, even though I've been taking my preventive medicines regularly...but whatever.

So, a little update. I threw myself out of ketosis during the Final 4 because I decided to have a couple of drinks during the Wichita State game. That also threw me into carb cravings for several days. And I didn't fight back as hard ask I could have/should have.

This week was much better. Went back to protein only for a couple of days and got rid of the feeling. Had my latest appointment at the center yesterday after work, and I was down 3 pounds (after seeing a net 0 loss last week). I'm good with that. And this morning, my scale was down another 1.4 from yesterday.

Per the center: I've lost 19.4 since Feb 28
Per my scale: I've lost 24 since Feb 27

Congratulations!!!

I did an inadvertent experiment, after my last appointment where i had both shots, i was totally craving alcohol so had some blackberry and apricot brandy , one shot each two nights in a row (1 shot a night, 2 total over two days) instead of protein. My weight loss stopped! Still under 900 calories and actually gained. The last 2 days i skipped the alcohol and did only carbs and went down 4 lbs. wow! I didnt think that the alcohol would affect me at all, let alone that much. Good thing that i dont normally drink but wow. Not what i would expect.

Glad they caught the boston marathon bomber alive, lets keep him that way so we can try to find out why he would do such an evil, senseless thing. Hope the rest of the victims are able to heal, and peace to their families. Lets praise the first responders, law enforcement, and personnel who helped save those who are still alive.

dtg - I'm glad you clarified it was protein! I didn't think eating CARBS you'd lose 4 lbs.

ictdeb - We all have those blips every so often....I'm getting over one right now. Even thinking of going to the clinic for the 10-week prepaid special if they have that in the Andover clinic. I heard Dr Cobb retired...
Kim and Jill are great though.

I think you're right about Dr. Cobb. Dr. Nicholson met with me a few weeks ago and is nice enough. The clinic has an 8-week prepaid special that's available starting on Tuesday. I'm definitely going that route when I go in next week. Nothing like shelling out a whole bunch of money to keep me on track.

Hello all wanting to stop in and say Hi. Been watching the forum for two months now as I came here to read up just before I started. This forum is very helpful and I love the recipes. So far Im two months in and having pretty good results. Ill post my Tanita results so show my progress

Age 31 Male
6ft 1.5in
____________2/21/13-------------------4/18/13

Weight______274.01-------------------240.01
BMI_________35.70--------------------31.7
Fat %_______28.00--------------------14.7
Fat Mass_____76.51--------------------35.51
FFM________197.51-------------------204.51
TBW_______144.51-------------------149.51

My Medi clinic is very happy with my results and so am I. Im happy to have increased my lean muscle over this time as I really enjoy working out and want to be in good shape and not just "skinny" eventually. My end goal is to be between 10-12% body fat.

Hi all, it has been a while since I have posted. I am still here! Had a few very slow plateau weeks but I got through it with a 4.4lb loss this week. Happy to report I am down 41 pounds with 6 left to loose til my goal. I have started one grain a day and we have started discussions towards maintenance & wellness. I told the clinic I will only come 3 more visits so they will give me the wellness info.

Congratulations chrislaurie!!! Does your clinic do a calormetric breathing test? I had that done when I reached goal in Fall 2010....that is when they told me my basic calorie count should be 1300 daily. Yikes! I too stopped going soon afterward, and now regret it....because adding the grains and more carbs put me in a bad place when not monitored. Carbs just make me hungrier and I wasn't learning about my body and how some carbs triggered my hunger! Be well, my friend. THAT is the real goal!!

Thanks for the feedback Fit2010! Initially I thought of continuing for the accountability. I should see how much it is for me to check in under the wellness cycle. They did not mention the calorie test so I will inquire. Thanks!

Congratulations! How long did it take you? I have about the same amount to lose and I started end of February. Down 16 as of the last visit

Please fill us in on the transition to maintenance...

I started New Years day. Had about 4 weeks of plateaus (2weeks then another 2 weeks) but really stayed on plan with only 2 hiccups by accident. People I don't even...students' parents have even stopped me to comment on my loss and so I am feeling great. Been running weekly 5k's and getting personal best medals 3 weeks in a row. Very motivated...my knee is being troublesome so I hope I don't get sidelined.

Greetings all. We are moved into our town house, well most of the way. Now to find a real home. In the midst of this I continue to lose! The funny thing is i realized my underwear is to big. They used to be hip huggers. Now they are granny panties... time for new underwear! Down from a size 18/20 to a size 12. My weigh in yesterday had a 6 pound fat loss but 4 pound water gain. I realized that the support stockings I wear are also from being alomst 50 pounds heavier... I kept out on the outer clothing but not the undergarments. I guess someday I will need to post pictures... I may even be able to be back on line on a regular basis : )

Snickers. you made me laugh because I have experienced the same underwear issue! I had to go buy new bras and underwear! You and I continue to follow about the same pace. I had some plateau issues but we continue to be within the same few pounds!

Hello everyone. I was so pleased to see this thread! I am like many of you, back for a second time. I went to Medi in 2009 and reached my goal (from 169-130) in about 3.5 months. I had some ups and downs over the next 3 years, but never got above 140 until last year. Officially, my primary doc diagnosed it as perimenopause, but I called it temporary insanity. I'm so mad I let myself get so overwhelmed, but I'm even more upset I let myself gain 40 pounds. It's a struggle every day, but I'm not sitting by and letting hormones control me anymore.

Yesterday I went for my initial visit and today is officially day 1. I'm remembering all of the headaches, hunger and fear of giving up, but I am so determined to get back to myself. Seeing you all come back is very inspirational, and I could really use the support from you all. You all know where I am and how hard this is. Thanks for this thread!

Snickersmama too funny the same thing happened to me I went out and bought new ones. I'm amazed by my progress size 16 to a size 10 unheard of. My original goal was 165 but now I'm starting to think its too small either way I am no longer over 200 pounds and I never want to go back there. I do feel like I am trained and locked into this lifestyle but there are days a craving will come over me even sfter 14 weeks!!

Goodbye 240's!! I lost 4.4 this week after a gain of .4 last week. So I'm on a high tonight. Forgive me (or not!!)!!

I just completed my 9th week on the program and am down 26.5 pounds. Not too shabby, I say! The last several weeks, my losses have been alternating between low or nothing and really decent. I'm either going to have to live with that or figure out what I'm doing in those in-between weeks that makes things different.

Whoo Hoo Deb!! Congratulations!!

Mind if I ask what your food menu has included? You can list it here. Have you found eating the same thing daily helps, or are you getting variety? Drinking all your water daily?

Again, WHOO HOO!!!

Thanks, Deb! I do eat the same things for breakfast and snacks every. single. day. Lunch has little variation as does dinner. My calorie goal is 700-900, and I use the whole range! I drink a 20oz bottle of Powerade Zero in the AM and then refill 4-5 times with water throughout the day.

Breakfast -
  • 1/2 cup egg beaters (scrambled)
  • 3 slices turkey bacon
  • 16oz coffee with 2 packets of Splenda & 1 mini moo creamer (which is equal to 1/2 tbsp of half and half)

Lunch -
  • 5oz crockpot cooked chicken (however many breasts the crock holds with about 1/2 cup water, 1/2 tsp each salt & garlic powder, 1/4 tsp black pepper...cook 6-8 hrs on low.)
  • 5oz mixed ground beef & turkey (I mix a 19/20oz pkg of ground turkey with a pound of lean hamburger. Brown & drain the fat). This can be mixed with taco seasoning (yum!) or left plain.
  • 5-6oz of sliced deli meat
  • This week, I also braved the cafeteria at work and had their chicken salad on a bed of baby spinach instead of as a sandwich. This is chunks of chicken breast, mayo, celery, onion, and a few grapes. I need to make a LF version at home because I could live on this stuff!

Dinner -
  • Hebrew National 97% FF beef hot dogs (2) and a string cheese
  • turkey pepperoni (microwaved to make chips) with string cheese melted on top
  • Ialian bake (this makes 2 servings - 6oz of my ground turkey/beef mixture, 1/2 cup FF cottage cheese, 1 cup frozen spinach (measure then thaw and squeeze dry...or use fresh), 1/2 cup homemade no-sugar tomato sauce, sprinkle of Italian seasoning. Top with 1 to 1.5 oz shredded mozzarella. Bake @ 375 for 20-25 min).
  • turkey pepperoni pizza made on 1 Flatout Foldit 5-grain flax wrap

Snacks -
  • string cheese
  • Carbmaster (Kroger brand) yogurt
  • EAS Carb Control Shakes (only on my really long days when I know dinner isn't going to be an option)
  • Medi, EAS carb control, or Atkins snack bars (around 100-120 calories, so sometimes I'll cut a bar in half)

I pair either lunch or dinner with a veggie and sometimes (2-3 days a week) have fruit with my 1st afternoon snack.

I eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours, but pay no mind to my mostly quickie dinners. I'm running ragged here at the end of the semester and I am not home at a regular dinner time most of the week. So it's grab and go. Some nights, I end up eating like 3 snacks instead of even having dinner.

HTH!!

Deb, That definitely helps!! Thank you!! I just met with someone (not MWL) that I will be accountable to, and she asked that I come up with some menus. Because in the past I had lost weight eating Pure Protein bars and EAS shakes (plus real foods), now that SOY bothers me I cannot have those quick grab former staples. It is realistic for me to have the same-type meals as you...because my hours most days run long. BTW-what are you in school for (since you mentioned "semester"). You can PM me this if you want!

By the way, I too mix ground turkey and ground lean hamburger, form meatballs, bake them, and then package them in baggies with 3 meatballs in each. Then when I go to work, I'll grab a baggie, stick about a tablespoon or more of ricotta cheese in there, and top with a tablespoon or more of Spaghetti sauce. Then at work I put in a bowl and stick in the microwave to warm up. Yummy and low carb.

Deb, I'm glad you've found someone to help you through! I need someone to kick me in the butt every week...especially those weeks when I don't lose. Your meatballs sound yummy!! I might have to try that.

For school, I'm at WSU for the Masters in Engineering Management program. I am so ready for summer it's not funny. Even though I'll still be working, I opted out of taking any classes. Figure I can just as well "kill myself" with that slowly as quickly!
