YankeeMom,
I know what you mean about adding in the veggies. I had never been so excited to see a brussel sprout like I was on day 8.

If your stats are correct and you've lost 24lbs since the end of March thats a great loss so far! I'm from Richmond too. Are you going to the Glen Allen clinic? Thats where I went, I really liked the staff there. Keep up the good work!

Well after several weeks of craziness. I am back. We have sold our homing less then a week. Found an apartment. But not a new home. I have now have thirty one pounds to go to goal!! I knocked my self out of ketosis drinking. A real pop by mistake. Over came. That hurdle now the apartment. Has a nice gym and is a mile. From my office. So instead of a 45 minute morning. Commute. I can work out!! Have. A wonderful weekend.

Having a hard time, my insurance wouldn't approve the app. suppressants and the clinic is too far away to get the stay slim (1 hour min) so I have been winging it on my own until i get the SS in the mail- didn't arrive today-rats! I Have not gotten down to 500 cal. But stayed within the 800 cal of protein only everyday. Hopefully I will still see a loss w/o the app. suppressants. The SS should be arriving by mail on Monday. Has anyone else done this w/o the app. supp. or SS? Did you have the same results (5-10 lbs) in a week? Just wondering.

I only took the appetite suppressants for a few days during my first week and then stopped. I never tried the stay slim. My first week I lost 9lbs and I lost 19 my first month. I was given 500-700 protein calories a day. With staying within the 800 protein calorie range I'm sure you'll still see a loss!

Stick with it Trish!! When I did week 1 recently I cut out coffee/caffiene/sugar/even sugar substitutes....what a change! I think I should stay on this, but it is SO difficult to find anything that doesn't have sweetener in it! I'm sending you a PM.

The appetite suppressants help a bit bit i rarely use them...after the first week didnt really need them. Kind of saving them for when i will really need them- like airplanes where the food is lousy and christmas parties! Also they make me feel funny, and i cant sleep. You will still lose weight on 800 cal, my limit is 700-900 cal protein per day, if i can lose on that anybody can.

Also, my clinic gave me an "insurance card" for my meds so i get the suppressants filled at my local pharmacy and it is completely covered. How does it work at your facility?

Slogging along. I lost 1.5# this week. I have made peace with this rate of loss. I am obviously not conforming 100%, but I am not resentful of my deprivations either. It's
A trade off.

Kind of a random question. Is it possible that Im actually not in ketosis and just dehydrated?? Someone told me that being dehydrated can make the strips look like you are in ketosis.

Thanks Laurie and Jessica and DTG!
Well, I have only lost 1.5 so far this week as well Laurie. I technically really started the plan on Friday and I only had one slip up...had a glass of wine and 10 pistachios on Monay night- oops! Back to it again yesterday and today. Also that TOM somehow creeped up on me a four days early. I think that was why I was craving the carbs/sugar that was in the wine. Interestingly I didn't have all the other PMS signs (backache, tenderness etc.)- I'm guessing that's because of how I'm eating. I am still going without the AS, and haven't started the stay slim either, so not sure if that is why I haven't lost as much (after 4 days)? I really need to increase/ restart my exercise. I've been a little preoccupied with my husbands upcoming surgery, feeling terrified over it actually and haven't been able to concentrate on much besides sticking to the plan of medi. I do think it's getting easier. Yesterday managed to stay under 800 (670)and didn't feel too deprived. Question, can we use lowfat mayo? I had some yesterday in my tuna, not many carbs (2).

Hi all! I wanted to check in I made it through my birthday (april9th) got to 192.6 thats about 41.4 pounds lost amazing I've been on my vacation 2 days and today I completley went off plan as good as the food tasted my stomach filled up pretty quickly and I felt really really heavy. I go back to week 1 starting tomorrow. I know what your thinking week 1 on vacation?? I think I can handle it as much as I would love to take the whole 7 days of my vacation to be "off plan" I am also scared out of my mind to gain this weight back. My mindset is completley different now. 30 more pounds til goal!!

Hey all.
Not a bad week...not a good week.
Weigh in was OK. -.4 (-2lbs fat, +2lb water) but it was TOM so I expected the water gain.
Then Wednesday came: My son got student of the week for good behavior (this was a huge deal considering the child was expelled from Kindergarten last year) so we went out for frozen yogurt. Thursday my BF had her tonsils out so we dined on more frozen yogurt. Friday I played hookie from work with my husband since we have no days off together usually. That threw off my schedule completely. We went out for lunch. I picked a good entree but I did allow myself some cheese fries for an appetizer....then had some chocolate at home...then had a handful of popcorn at a movie...then had BK for dinner (2 bun-less whoppers jrs). I wasn't horrible with my food choices...but wasn't as diligent as I should have been.
This morning I recommitted and jump back in with both feet.
On a good note, I went to my normal doctor this week...my BP was good and she even said I looked better...so I am getting healthier from the inside out.
Have a great week everyone!

Hi, Medi friends! I've been absent for a while. Big work transition and lots of travel. I'm so behind on the board and will try to catch up over the weekend. I love reading about everyone's successes and have missed that motivation!

I had a two-week stretch in between weigh-ins while I was traveling, so that was a week without AS, and it was a real challenge for me! I had a small loss at that weigh-in, .8 lbs., but the scale said I'd lost fat and gained water. Everything evened out this week when I was down another 3 lbs for a total of 54.6 down. Woohoo! I'm 35 lbs. away from goal. Thinking about buying another pair of one-size-down jeans as motivation for next month. My latest pair are by no means loose yet, but I know that will come!

A big welcome to any newcomers. Can't wait to hear about your progress. What once seemed impossible to me has been easy with Medi. It really is the one that works!

P.S. Jessica1129, I'm now hooked on Quest bars. I found them at GNC and keep them in my briefcase and suitcases. They are the best protein bar I've ever had, and the nutritional quality can't be beat. Thank you so much for the recommendation.

Congrats on your 54.6 lb weight loss NCBookworm!! What have you found that you like to eat for bkfst, lunch, dinner? And are you exercising?

Congrats Dariasen on an improving BP reading!! I had a scare (to myself) within the past 3 months when I was inching up toward 140/90. Yesterday it was down to 120/78....still not as great as I'd like it to be, would like lower number to be more like 68. But the improvement is as a result of following my MWL WOE mostly "on" and therefore losing about 14 lbs in the past month or so. Whew MWL!

Congrats reinvented, that is a great loss so far!! Same question to you that I asked NCBookworm: What have you found that you like to eat for bkfst, lunch, dinner? And are you exercising? This time around for me I am cutting out some of the foods I previously ate....like carbmaster's yogurt (cutting out the fake sugars is why) and protein bars (cutting out soy). I just am looking for fresh ideas! Thanks!!

I'm glad you like them!! I'm able to find them at a few different places near me with pretty much all of the flavors. My hubby loves them too! They really can't be beat as far as nutrition and ingredients go. The lady at my Vitamin Shoppe says that she puts hers in the microwave for just a few seconds. Just enough to make them warm and gooey, and she says they taste even better that way. Congrats on your loss so far!! Keep up the good work!!

Supplements?

Hello I'm starting my 6th week on the program & I was wondering if anyone has substituted their clinic supplements with others & have they been working ok? I purchased a lot of them at Cotsco due to the price being cheaper than clinic..thanks for any input

Thanks so much unfortunatley my go back to week 1 plan has been adjusted I've been on plan one day and off the next I just really want to enjoy this must needed vacation and not feel so restricted. I have been excercising mostly high intensity youtube videos. Im glad I can reel it in and go back and forth but I know the time is coming to really buckle down 30 more pounds.

Before my vacation I've been doing cardio in the morning (elliptical or treadmill) and Jillian Michaels in the afternoon on most days. For breakfast I've pretty much kept it egg whites for the whole time I've been on the program pretty boring but it worked for me. Lunch and dinner varied between salad or just chicken breast some times 90% lean ground beef or ground turkey. I was addicted to paneras avacado salad 580 cals 16 carbs i would eat half for breakfast half for lunch.

I went to my first appt Saturday, and I started yesterday (Sunday). I am really excited, but REALLY tired. I don't know if it's no carbs/caffeine or if it's the new sleep aid I've been taking (slow release melatonin as opposed to short dose). Any advice?

Yesterday was fine with eating -- I found it difficult to make it to the 650 calories!

I am really excited == I have an Aria scale (it syncs to my phone) and I have already lost 2.4 lbs since Saturday!

being tired week 1 is completely normal! I felt the worst on days 3-4 and then every day after that was a little better than the day before. Youll get back to feeling normal soon. i also dont sleep as good when im first getting into ketosis, but after a day or two thats back to normal for me also. my clinic said caffeine was ok just not to go overboard with it. some chicken broth or a powerade zero may help a little too. keep up the good work!

Thank you for the info reinvented....how do you make your egg whites? Do you just pour out of a carton or do you take apart an egg? Fry? Microwave? I just really don't like egg whites alone....needing suggestions!! Thanks for your input!

I recently discovered that a large wholesale chain food and home center, same name as my son, sells whole hard boiled eggs in massive quantities! They are individually sealed so they stay fresh for a week or more. I have been using 4 of these to make a "mock" eggsalad with canadian bacon, mustard and a touch of low cal mayo and one celery stalk. I just take out the yolks, except for one. Calories about 140, carbs about 2-3. I love egg salad from when I was a kid.

I had a migraine yesterday (day 2) and for giggles, I tested for ketosis this morning, I am in it!!! I'm feeling AMAZING today. Crazy how just 24 hours can change our health! I re-read all of my material last night, and saw that I can have caffeine, so I got an unsweetened tea today, and have been sipping on it -- along with my electrolytes and water.

Unofficially on my scale, I'm down 4.5 lbs since Sunday morning. I am ecstatic!

Trish - That is one thing I have done....make egg salad, but haven't added canadian bacon and mustard. Hmmm! Thanks for the idea.

I felt so awful this AM....bought a breakfast bar type thing and 1/2 way through felt nauseated. I think I cannot tolerate soy, read the incredients and this had soy flour in it. All day I have felt bloated and nauseated then. So I do need ideas!! Thank you , thank you!!

My 8 year old son has a soy allergy, it really messes his stomach up too. He gets stomach pain, nausea and gas. Its a hard allergy to have too, soooo much stuff has soy in it! If youre looking for bars try the quest bars. They dont have soy. I try to keep deviled eggs around too for when I need to grab something quick.
