Ugh, struggling!
Well, I'm on my last 6 pounds and I'm REALLY struggling! Since I'm having trouble affording the appointments, I've been going every other week, which means I've been splitting the AS in half. I've still been losing, but it's slowed down a lot. These past couple of weeks in particular have been tough for some reason. I can't even keep my daily calories under 1000. In fact, it's been closer to 1100-1200 a day. Of course, I realize that is still a deficit, but it seems like so much after staying under 850 for so long. My carbs have been creeping up as well, around 50-60 a day! This is mainly because I'm trying to eat lower calorie vegetables to fill me up. I really think its just anxiety right now that's driving me to eat, and I don't know how to get it under control without taking the AS at full strength. Sigh. Tomorrow I will weigh in after 2 weeks and see what the damage is. If I haven't lost any, I will be pretty upset!

Wow, thanks guys! I sometimes wonder if anybody is ever reading what I write, but I keep writing because it's a kind of therapy. I'm glad to hear I have been an encouragement to someone. :-)

Hi Crazy Cat,
You are my inspiration as I prepare to start Medi on Jan 3rd. I am sponging up as much info and inspiration as I can. I would love to be in your shoes and so close to goal and preparing to transition. Good luck through the holidays, trust me, I would rather feel fat burning mode than this fluffy out of control feeling. ![]() |

Well thank you! It hasn't been easy by any means, but I think I'm proof that it IS doable.
If I were to offer any advice to someone just starting out, it would be to research, research, research. I've read soooo much since starting this diet, ranging from diet forums like this one, to medical sites (I've found sites for diabetics to be especially helpful), and even Wikipedia. I look up things like the different types of fat, varieties of produce and their nutrients, metabolism, how to exercise, how insulin works, ect. Just recently I turned to Wikipedia to read about the different types of bran. I wanted to up my fiber, but was overwhelmed with all the different types available. Wikipedia is usually the first place I turn to if I want basic knowledge. Now don't get me wrong, I usually don't understand all that I read, but it does help, and gradually I have come to be much more knowledgeable than I once was. There's a vast amount of information out there if you're willing to put out the effort to weed through it all. Just be careful and don't believe everything you read. Always verify everything through multiple sources, because anyone can set up a webpage and write a bunch of nonsense. I hope this helps. Good luck everyone! Believe me, if a perpetually lazy, stuck in her ways, junk-food-loving girl like me can do this, anybody can! |
