Hair loss

Hello I'm on Medi for 3 months now and lost around 33lb in total. For the past 2-3 weeks I've been noticing that my hair is falling out much more than it used to.
Have any of you been through this?:help:

I haven't had it happen, but I have heard of it happening on low calorie diets. Are you taking all your supplements and eating a minimum of 500 calories of protein a day? Have you told your clinic about this?

I've read that its common with rapid weight loss. I haven't personally had it happen, but I read that biotin can prevent it and help it stop if its started, so I started taking biotin when I joined medi.

I, fortunately and unfortunately, have very thick hair. I lost a lot the first week, A LOT.
It slowed when I increased my calories.

I did notice it happen again this week when I tried the "jump start" for 3 days. I did also forget to take my Fish Oil and I was told by the staff at Medi that it will help.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am eating my 500 calories of protein a day and I'm taking all the vitamins including fish oil. Last week a bought a hair/skin vitamin at vitamin shoppe but I was researching online this morning and I read about the Biotin and it seem to help a lot of people so today I bought the Biotin.
I will only take the Biotin instead of the hair/skin vitamin.
I told the clinic about my hair loss issue but they only suggested me to go to my private doctor and have my thyroid checked.
I also have a thick hair but I am noticing that is getting thinner and less volume...
:( I am starting to get desperate since it doesn't stop falling. I will schedule an appointment with my doctor this week, hopefully it will get better.
I did not want to, but i'm forced to add some more calories this week maybe it will help. Thanks again for the replies if you girls know something else that might help, please share! I will keep you posted.
Thank you!

The biotin should help, but it takes some time. There's a great thread on here somewhere all about it, I'll see if I can find it. Did your thyroid come back normal when you first had your bloodwork done at medi?

I found a thread that has a lot of great info. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/vi...ed-biotin.html

I hadn't heard about Biotin, so thanks. I'll add that directly to my next supplement order.

Not excited about some of the advantages of Biotin-leg hair? On the bright side, winter is coming, so I might want some extra fur to keep me warm and I live in an area where it's pretty common practice not to shave (LOL).

I have very thick hair and lost a lot of hair at around the three month mark. I was totally freaking out. My hairdresser recommended the biotin and I started taking more calcium, too. She told me hair growth cycle is about 90 days. Sure enough, it started growing back. Not sure if it was the calcium and biotin or just natural re-growth, but it came back. It's an awful feeling, but hopefully you will new growth soon.
