*Superior Success for September at MWL*

September has arrived. Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer holiday. Football games, fall foliage, lots of fun runs and marathons coming up. Cooler days mean more opportunities to get outdoors and exercise whether it be biking, hiking, walking or just going to a game or two and cheering for your favorite team. Just do it!

Lets try to keep the conversation going in here. I see a whole lot of threads being started with little participation when we have a really good opportunity to help each other, encourage each other, and answer each other's questions and concerns right here in one place. We have recipe threads, and one on ketosis, and several others for great references.

What goals do you have for yourself this month? Are you staying 100% on program, and working toward your goal weight? Are you stuck at a plateau? Or you bored with food choices? What exercise are you doing? What concerns do you have going forward with the program?

We are all here to help each other. Let's do it!

You all CAN do this! MWL is the one that works!

Hi Jo! I'd hoped to be at 175 before going on 2 back to back trips that start this Thursday, hanging at 181 or so. Still better than the 192 I was a month ago! Last PM I bicycled 4 miles as DH walked (he walks fast too!) and my poor knees were shakey after 3 miles, but I kept at it. I'm thankful I don't have any problems walking or going up and down my stairs today!! Start walking my 2 miles when checking on my nursing students in the various ICUs of the hospital tomorrow, twice a week. Exercise makes a big difference to me, and is how I really stuck with the program/saw my body change in 2010. I'm thankful the sinus issues/allergies are treatable and that I should be able to get into a walking and biking program again! Hallelujiah! :jumpjoy:

I just recently went back to my clinic after being away for nearly 2 months, due to my husbands job. We were staying in a hotel for just over a month for an out of town job, and it was impossible to stay on plan while eating every meal out and I ended up gaining. As soon as we got back home I got back on plan and back down to where I was. Now I'm down 4 more lbs and thrilled to be back with medi! They re-did my full blood work just like the 1st visit again so I'm curious to see what all my numbers are now.

CrazyCatLady 09-07-2012 09:22 PM

Sounds like everyone's doing great! I'm still 100% on program, but I had to skip my appointment today due to lack of funds. Luckily I have saved my AS every time I miss one (which happens frequently on the weekends when I sleep in), and I had enough for 7 days saved up, which is JUST enough.

I really wish I could have weighed today - I don't have a scales at home. Today was my deadline to my initial goal of 50lbs lost. Last week I was 2.5 pounds from that, so I don't know if I made it or not, but I kind of think I did. I look forward to my appointment next week though!

Fit2010 09-08-2012 05:44 PM

Whoo Hoo!! Everyone staying committed and working their plan! :shake:

One conference down, finished at noon and drove 3 hours home today. Fly out tomorrow for next one for 5 1/2 days. This will be intense and a GREAT learning experience!!

Talk to you later.

Jessica1129 09-08-2012 07:59 PM

I had my regular weekly weigh in yesterday, and lost 1.5 lbs and it was all fat! I'm starting my 19th week with Medi and I've lost 59.5 lbs so far. And what's even better, I got my full lab work results back, and everything was normal! Normal cholesterol and my thyroid is normal now also. The counselor said even though I'm still overweight I'm healthy now, and that's a great feeling. Good luck this coming week everyone!

CrazyCatLady 09-09-2012 05:12 PM

Wow Jessica1129, thats great!!! Congratulations!

If I can stay away from those White Chocolate Candy Corn M & M's this month, I will be happy!
I definitely do not crave as many sweets as before Medi.

I'm trying not to focus on the LBS so much as the changes in how I feel and how my clothes fit.

I do think sometimes I don't eat enough because I get bored. Any tips for changing it up? I tried going a little vegetarian for variety but read that soy can inflame thyroid issues.

Fit2010 09-12-2012 03:42 PM

I'm peeking in despite a week chock-full of indoor conferences!! They feed us breakfast and lunch, and have had dinner there Monday and Tuesday. Good choices for lunch, but otherwise high carb things with lots of high carb snacky options for snacks. I will not like stepping on the scale when I get home!! Think I'll go out for a walk this evening....not too far from the hotel though. It's so pretty outside right now! Learning LOTS!!!

:jumpjoy::jumpjoy: So proud of you Andy and Jessica!!!

Just dropping in to say HI:hiya:

I had an interesting summer, with some weight gain. I ended up with my THIRD outbreak of shingles.....I had my first one when I was a new RN at age of 30, then another outbreak last year, and now this one (I'm all healed up and feeling GREAT) :jumpjoy: We also are still screwing around with getting our house sold (short sale) We've had a contract since June, but it seems like every road block possible has been put in our path.....maybe that's what stimulated the shingles :dunno: Anyway I have been VERY tenacious and all is smoothing out. THEN on top of everything else our AC went out (we live in FL) so about all I could do for the MONTH we were without AC was sit and sweat.....I ate a LOT of ice cream!

I'm back up to 158lb (my nemesis weight) Still working on getting to 100 pounds gone!

DD is getting married June 8 2013

Good to see my "old" friends

Fit2010 09-13-2012 08:15 PM

Hi Mary! Last pm after I wrote my note I looked at my photo album online in this LCF site....wow. I seriously miss being 137-145lbs. I will get there!!! Gotta get back on board starting next Monday! Still at Conference where breakfast, lunch, snacks, and most dinners have been provided. DD will be home when I get there Saturday evening and leave late Sunday, so I will start again on Monday. We did this once, we can do it again, my friend!! Shingles, ouch! A friend here had that too. Think your going to get the vaccination after you're healed up this time? Just a thought. Hugs and High Fives!:console: :jumpjoy:

The Doc I saw said there is no point in getting the vacine now that I've had shingles. My DS (age 34) has them right now as well.....he isn't having much pain thank Goodness. His Doc said the same. I had just told him to get the vacine not 2 weeks prior to his Dx because he had a very severe case of chicken pox as a kid.....guess they never listen

Jessica1129 09-14-2012 06:40 PM

Well I wasn't able to go to my weekly weigh in this week. Hubby & I are sharing one car right now and he had to work all week. But, my scale at home shows I'm down 5lbs this week! I'm finally over halfway to my goal! My counselor told me not to expect much loss since I've been sick, so I'm pleasantly surprised that I had such a good week. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and great success this upcoming week!

CrazyCatLady 09-14-2012 06:58 PM

New member of the 50 pounds gone club, woohoo!!!

Jessica1129 09-14-2012 07:13 PM

That's awesome CrazyCatLady! Great job! :high5:

CrazyCatLady 09-14-2012 08:45 PM

Thank you! Good job on your loss as well! Isn't it great to be doing something positive for yourself?

ericak44 09-17-2012 09:58 PM

I am back and it is good to hear everyone's good spirits and motivation.
I took a little break from the clinic, AS, and modified my eating for the past 5 weeks. I was stuck at a plateau and felt like the AS weren't doing anything for me any more. Started back on them today and week 1 for a fedays to get into ketosis. I think I need to stop getting on the scale and just focus on eating behaviors. I really think those numbers mess with my head more than I thought. I think I kee sabotaging myself 10lbs from goal because I am so afraid of not being able to maintain. I am up about 4lbs since my past Finnic wi. Not bad consisdering how quickly I can gain weight. I am running a 10 mile race in a week and a half. Having a hard time mentally wrapping my brain around training for the race and eating so little when all of the running websites endorse carb loading before runs. I am happy to say that I am almost 20lbs lighter than my last 10miler in May. Time to get to goal.

ericak44 09-18-2012 04:01 AM

After five weeks of being not perfectly on program, one day of week one, I am only up 2.5lbs after I this morning at home. Feeling refreshed and motivated. Who says I can't maintain?

Fit2010 09-20-2012 08:58 PM

I was looking forward to kicking back into Low Carb this past Monday after returning from the Conference in Boston....and already blew it. Daughter texted with concern she had about her ex this AM and though we talked and prayed, I still thought about her all day. After a business type meeting I had that got out at 5pm, I bought chinese (crab ragoon, chicken lo mein, sesame chicken). You know when you want something and it's not quite what you thought it would be?! Crab ragoon tasted SO fried, the lo mein was SO full of carbs, and the sesame chicken was drenched in sweet sauce. Ugh! I ate about 1/6 of it and that was all I could handle. Realized as I was eating it that I had not eaten lunch, no wonder I was so tempted and starved at dinnertime!

DH and I have our 35th wedding anniversary in THREE months....that's about 90 days. I've got to get down and say NO to these nasty (but tastey) carbs! I started the week eating Pure Protein Bars for lunch but that's even more carbs than I really should have. I need to figure this out. I know it is going to take much more planning than I've given it so far this week!

I made it to 181.5 (instead of 175 lbs) before the Conference. Now up to nearly 186. Want to lose 30 lbs in the next 3 months!! Saved up AS that I need to get back on.

Let's DO this Erica!!

Again...SO happy for you Andy!! Great job!

I was down to 180 yesterday....my scales. I gotta stick with it!

CrazyCatLady 09-27-2012 07:59 PM

Sounds like everyone is doing great! I just wanted to share that I finally bought some new pants for work - size 14, after wearing my size 18 & 20's safety pinned for these past few months. It feels pretty freaking awesome!

Jessica1129 09-27-2012 08:54 PM

That's great, CrazyCatLady! Its a great feeling isn't it?! I need all new fall/winter clothes, but I'm trying to wait as long as possible to buy anything because I know it won't fit for long.

CrazyCatLady 09-28-2012 07:04 PM

I felt the same way, and I put it off as long as possible. But I couldn't wait any longer - my clothes were literally falling off! I only bought 4 pair of pants, just to get me through until I'm at my goal. Plus they're my sister's size, so I can always give them to her later (she rarely has money for new clothes).

I have to say, my weight loss really hasn't seemed real until I got these new, smaller clothes. And its been a huge boost to my confidence! I actually feel attractive again!

Fit2010 09-29-2012 12:01 AM
