Hi All
Hoping someone can help me understand why I'm gaining weight instead of losing. Yesterday I ate 600 protein calories but gained about 1/2 pound. I ate turkey breast lunch meat, cheese slices, almonds, protein bar and jerky. Just getting extremely discouraged. I'm on week 5 and lost 14.9 pounds and told myself to try to hit the 20 lbs lost this week, but I seem to be going in wrong direction.

I see lots of sodium... Jerky always bloats me, but it is short lived. Drink all of your water, I shoot for 1 gallon of pure water a day. Also, watch the protein bars, try for less processed foods, like fish or chicken breasts to maximize your loss.

You are doing great! Don't get frustrated, just follow the plan. It really does work, but we all have slow weeks and our own pace for losing weight.

I agree, when I get high in sodium the weight loss slows to a crawl.

Did they say whether it was water weight you gained? The past couple of weeks I had some trouble with water weight gain, and I think it has to do with how hot it is right now (I see you're in TX too). Maybe that, along with the sodium, is causing it. You could actually be losing fat, but retaining water - that's what was happening to me. Like Susanna said, drink LOTS of water!

Thank you all for the replies. I actually weigh my self everyday on Wii Fit, to see how I'm doing. I never thought about sodium, just been looking at calories and carbs.
