Help! I overate at dinner today!
Hi-
Since I started the low carb thing, my appetite has been greatly reduced. However today for some reason I was really hungry and I ate 2 huge grilled burgers (with nothing on it). They tasted so good with the spices I put on there that I ate close to a pound of burgers in one setting. I looked up the calorie count after I ate these and it looks like I ate 800 calories of grilled meat just for dinner. I am now beginning to feel guilty!! Although I did not really "cheat" in the sense the burgers were 0 carbs, I feel like I should have stopped after the first half pounder. I have been essentially eating less than 20 carbs for the past 3 weeks and my appetite has been small. However today was different- I have no idea why I was so ravenous today. Has anyone had this happen to them? |

Yes, this has happened to me too. Most days I'm okay, and then all of a sudden, I'm ravenous. I can't figure out if its really hunger or if I'm just enjoying the taste of something and falling back into bad habits. I know I could easily overeat every day if I let myself, the appetite suppressants only do so much. I just try to chalk it up to a one time splurge, and go back to things as usual ASAP. No need to beat yourself up over it, just try to keep it to a minimum.
Here recently when I find myself really feeling hungry, I eat something like a cheese stick followed with a glass of water. Then I make myself wait before I eat anymore. Usually just getting something in my stomach and waiting for the feeling to pass will help. Also, I try not to let more than 3 hours go by without eating something. This keeps me from getting to the ravenous point. I hope this helps. Hang in there! |
