**Jazzy July is here for MWL**

Sunny days, lots of hot summer weather, picnics, BBQs, swimming, hiking, and all sorts of great outside activities await you this month. You can do them all and stay on plan. You CAN do this. MWL truly is the one that works!:heart:

What are your plans and goals for this month?

Jo

MiniMomma 07-01-2012 04:24 PM

My husband has been gone since the end of May so I plan to enjoy some family time at the beach on his return next week!
I tend to lose slowly but I may even hit goal this month!! Medi has been a great plan for me, it just clicked! :jumpjoy:
I wish you all great success for July! :hugs:

Fit2010 07-03-2012 10:20 AM

Congratulations MiniMomma!! That is SO awesome!!

betty_going_85 07-03-2012 10:22 AM

Hi All, It's been a really long time since I posted. I started medi in December of 2010 and lost 62 pounds. I did really great on the plan. I know that it works but I got bored and took a break from the plan before ever reaching my weight loss goal. I got down to 188 from 250. Went back up to 212 and at that point decided I needed to take control again. I started the diet on my own on 6/24 and went to the clinic on 6/28. I can not begin to tell how good I feel for getting the courage to go back and not be embarrassed about the weight gain. I'm determined to stick with it this time and get to my goal weight. For now I only want to get down to 165-170. It make seem heavy to some of you but for my frame I think that would work. Once I get there I may decide to go lower but for now that's my goal.

I will post after my weigh in on Saturday. I am hoping for a good number but this is my second time around so the weight loss may be slower this time.

I wish you all a happy 4th and try to stay as close to plan as you can. If you fall off just remember that this journey is one day at a time and tomorrow is another day.

Betty

Fit2010 07-03-2012 10:46 AM

Welcome back, Betty. I remember you....and I too did the regain thing. Sinus infection/house mold issues (very sick for a long time!), and now possibly new onset thyroid issues. You are supported here!! Selfishly, I'm glad to see others come back too. WE KNOW THIS WORKS!! And we supported each other once, we can do it again, and this time we will be more diligent about maintenance :) Perhaps because it came off so well the first time, we thought we could "fudge" just a little and it wouldn't show....now we know better! I wish I had a tanita scale at home!!

Betty, It's good to see you back. You can do this! Good luck on the first weigh in.

MiniMomma 07-03-2012 06:33 PM

Thanks Deb ~ I hope your health issues resolve, its hard enough to take care of ourselves properly when we are healthy! :hugs:

Welcome back Betty, I have heard a few people say they get bored on this plan and I found trying new recipes from around here helps. I look at all the LC plan recipes and ajust with what is on plan for MWL. :yummy:

Today was weigh in and only 3.4 to go, we started talking about maintenance a bit too... kinda nervous to add back in some of the things that got me in trouble in the first place.

:D

Deb, it's good to see you again! I'm back, after almost a year of mostly maintaining and then watching the numbers go up and up and up over the last few months. I stuck with this WOE, but didn't journal or go to Medi. Also, I started to love the way that 2 glasses of wine tasted and felt, almost every night, due to lots of family issues (excuses, excuses). I visited Medi last week and started Week 1 again today, after gaining over 16 lbs from my lowest weight! I need accountability, journaling and the support I always found here. Time to get this train back on the track, before it completely derails! It's good to be back.

GREAT job Andy!! I like the way you keep your stats in the bottom so that you can always see them and keep yourself motivated too!!

Welcome back Nance! You can do this! Again!!

Nance7 07-12-2012 04:10 PM

Has anybody tried JUDDD? (Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet--his book is called THE ALTERNATE DAY DIET, by Dr James Johnson.)

There is a LCF thread about it, and it sounds intriguing. Apparently, you figure out your normal daily calorie allotment, and you can have that every other day, eating anything you want (Up Day). The days in between (Down Days), you restrict to mostly protein/vegs and close to an Acute day for us in calories. It's supposed to do wonderful things with the metabolism? You all have probably discussed it at length, but I'm just getting back on here. I'm going to ask my clinic about it tomorrow. After 4 days of Acute again, the idea of an UP DAY sounds too good to be true! :D

So good to be in good company with the restarters. I am 6 weeks back on plan and I am feeling in the grove. I did great week one but struggled up until the past week to be super compliant. Amazing, I had one clean week and lost 5lbs! Puts me down a total of 18lbs.
Today I was extra hungry. I even ate a bit more for breakfast because I was so hungry. I guess sometimes that happens.

Ericak44, you're doing great, and you give me hope!

Fit2010 07-12-2012 07:32 PM

Great job Erica!! You give me HOPE that I too can do this again. We pulled together in the past and can do so again! I am having surgery July 27th and am not allowed to be in ketosis right now so that I am "surgery ready" and will not develop any kind of problems/interactions with anesthesia. I plan to hit MWL hard right afterward though so that I too can lose 18 to 25 lbs in the following 6 wks!!!!!! I really need to see the 160's again by Sept 9th when I go to an out of state conference. I have clothes I could fit in to at that size. I don't have what I need at this size, and I really don't want to buy it new!! Goal is to be near goal (145) by our 35th anniversary in Dec!!

Nance - Yes, I've checked out the JUDDDD discussion, well, one of them. Definitely sounds like a plan that could work well for maintenance too....taking what you would have to eat to maintain in two days and eat 1/4 to 1/5 of it on DD, then 3/4 to 4/5 on UD (remember, that's what you would usually eat in TWO days fractionated over two days). That's my perception of it. I could see where it would definitely prevent metabolic stasis.
Let us know what your clinic says about JUDDDD!

Deb, you can do this! You are so motivated, and you know that it works. It's like we have this secret weapon that we KNOW will take off the weight.

Darn, I forgot to ask the clinic about JUDDD! I was so happy to find that I had lost 6.6 lbs in just 4 days of Week 1 that everything else went out of my mind! I ordered the JUDDD book, though, and I may use it for maintenance. Interesting to consider it in terms of fractions. That might help me to handle it better. Right now, I'd kill for a piece of whole wheat bread!

Desert-Rose7 07-13-2012 09:22 PM

Sounds like everyone is doing well in July.

About the JUDDD dealio...my main concern with it, is the eat whatever you want day. I have worked way too hard to get my weight down by those 112 pounds. Maintaining until last December, only to have it go up by 26 pounds with ACL surgery and resultant steroid meds...Back to the starting point again...with week 1...and the acute phase. And it worked. I am back to goal. It has worked for four years now and I have learned that eating whatever I want has consequences that I really do not want to go through ever again.

I do have favorite treats that fit within the margins I consider reasonable. And there are some foods that just do not work for me anymore. It truly is a matter of learning and doing. Trial and error. But eating whatever you want is asking for trouble. But then, that is JMHO, and I know for a fact that it would never work for me. Truly it is..to each his/her own.

MWL truly is the one the works. Stay with it and your reward will be worth the effort!

Fit2010 07-13-2012 10:31 PM

Jo and Nance - My plan for JUDDDD is to have protein and little veggies on DD (for 500 calories), then protein and fruit and veggies and complex carbs for UD (for about 1800 to 2000 calories)....in 48 hours 2500 calories instead of 1250 to 1400 per day which is what my previous MWL maintenance had my maintenance calories at....and that meant so much work to constantly figure it! We'll see!! I gotta get going on the acute phase first!!

Jo and Deb, that's what I was thinking, too. Using the Up day as sort of a maintenance day, with about 1400 calories of just "good stuff" (i.e., healthy and MW allowed). Down day would be like an Acute day. I, too, can never go back to sugary treats, because my cravings would be off the charts. I suppose that, if eating on maintenance is keeping my weight steady, I wouldn't need to do this. I could use it for a week or so if I gain, rather than doing Acute again. Haha--I just came off of a week of Acute, and I guess I'm just trying to find anything rather than having to do that again!:D

Fit2010 07-16-2012 09:27 AM

GREAT job CrazyCatLady!

Nance - I agree better with the 1400 UD and 500-650 DD idea. I was just going off the top of my head, but definitely keeping carbs low!

Thank you!

Jo, I've looked thru every recipe entry looking for your low cal/low carb ranch dressing recipe. I believe it was something like 27 calories per serving and ultra low carb. I just can't remember how you made it! Can you help??

THANK YOU!

ericak44 07-22-2012 09:29 PM

Had a great loss before vacation and according to my scale, managed to maintain while away. It was much harder to stay on program than I expected but I did the best I could with what I had. We stayed with friends and family most of the tie so I was at the mercy of others cooking. Let's just say I couldn't wait t get home and eat some veggies.

Desert-Rose7 07-27-2012 11:21 PM

Lea..sorry to be so late getting in here. A lot going on at work and at home lately. Let me look for that recipe for you. I will find it.

Hi, everyone! I will be back on Medi starting Tuesday. I have my appetite suppressants, food and everything ready to go. My only reason to wait to begin is that I have a very big interview for a promotion on Monday & I don't want to deal with the headache, brain fog, and general lethargy that I experienced previously during Week 1.

I did a great job maintaining until about 2 months ago, but I have recently put on 15-20 pounds!!! I did it in no time flat. I have had some medical issues and was put on a serious dose of steroids. I have tapered off of them now & know I can get the 'roid weight off quickly with Medi! The bad new is that I had to go buy a size 10 suit for Monday's interview this afternoon... I didn't realize that I had plumped up so much until I tried to put on one of the gorgeous size 6 suits, but *alas* they aren't fitting right now. It stinks to spend money on clothes that you don't WANT to wear!

I am nowhere near a Medi now, but I found a local Dr. that prescribes appetite suppressants. He had a weight watchers like diet, but I decided to go back to the Medi program with his help.

Anyway, I am back and ready to get this weight off! :)

njb 07-28-2012 08:17 PM

goals for summer

On my last visit to Medi I had lost 13.5lbs for the month, but my nurse thought this was not good since I was technically starting my fifth week. I was kinda deflated. She said I should cut my calories to 500-600 for the rest of the plan. This scared me to death and I sort of went on a binge the next few days so today I got back on track. I don't know if I should ask the doctor about this or not. Anyway my goals are to lose 5 more lbs by August 11th which is my husbands family reunion. I originally thought I would make my 20lb goal by then. I want to reach my 20lb by my sons birthday on August 20th. I am already walking two miles every other day so I hope to make it to three miles a day by christmas. I hope to make that a life long commitment.

njb 07-28-2012 08:20 PM

HI I know what you mean by fast weight. After I had my son I was ten lbs lower then when I got pregnant. Skip to six months later at xmas I went for a physical and i had gained over 25lbs! While breast feeding!!! I was shocked. I tried weight watchers but got stuck so now I am doing medi. It is slow and steady and I would love to see the fast weight loss but I am just chugging along until the scale says what I want.
