Conference in Vegas- HELP! Cocktail parties!
Hello, my low carb friends,
I'm at a week long conference in Las Vegas with multiple cocktail parties and events. I'd love to enjoy a few beverages without totally blowing my diet. Any suggestions? What's better (lower carb)- wine or vodka/rum drinks? I'm 6 pounds from my goal. Thank you all. CindyC |

We were in Vegas last month. I took Crystal Light Pink Lemonade sticks and ordered a single vodka and club soda with lime in a tall glass, and added half of the CL surreptitiously. No one batted an eye at my order and no one noticed the fact that I slowly nursed 1 drink for several hours! I returned home minus a pound due to all of the walking. We walked from the Cosmopolitan where we were staying, down to Fashion Show... specifically so i could go to Lululemon. I spent my gambling money on running shorts and a jacket!
Have a great time! |

I like the crystal lite idea, too. I went out this past weekend, ordered a club soda with lime, shot of tequila on the side and added crystal light margarita powder. Poured in the tequila and voila, low-carb margarita! They also make mojito mix, and appletini. One of the counselors at my center said it is better to skip the wine and have a vodka drink. Good luck!

I have vanilla vodka (or cherry) and diet coke. No Carbs and very little calories, then I nurse it as long as possible. Have fun!

Plain sparkling water with a lemon/lime twist, add a maraschino cherry for more color, or a drop of grenadine. Who knows what it is...no one but you. I personally find that the empty calories in alcohol are just not worth it.

I tend to lean toward diet cokes w/ rum when out or at social outtings. I am going to have to try losing in Ftm's mix

Basically, I laid off the alcohol during the acute phase. Having 100 plus pounds to lose, it just was not important to me to have that glass of wine, or vodka on the rocks. It was more important to lose the weight and develop a new WOE and make it mine. And it was infinitely easier without the distraction of empty calories. I have an occasional glass of wine at holiday time...and maybe an Irish Coffee on St. Patrick's Day. But that is it. Just not an attraction anymore...same way I think about soda...not an item in my pantry anymore. These things are fine for other people, just not for me. I am not judging others in any way....this is just what works for me.
