What can I eat at a Mexican restaurant?!
Having lunch tomorrow with a group of friends at a local Mexican restaurant. Any suggestions on what to eat to keep the carbs as low as possible? I know to stay away from the chips, but need to figure out what I can order.
Thanks! |

I get some type of salad (lettuce, meat, cheese, sour cream -- for example). Or I've also had fajitas without tortillas. If you know where you're going, look online at the menu and plan ahead. It makes it easier when you get there and you're hungry.

@ MathSci: I thought about this thread earlier as I sat in a Mexican restaurant wanting some advice on what to eat. Alas I had a salad with chicken and shrimp. Probably overdid it on the vegetables but we will see what the damage is on Friday ...

Mexican food was my go-to restaurant. I always ordered chicken fajitas prepared DRY - specifically say NO butter and NO oil. I would skip all the sides and, obviously, the tortillas. The lunch portion was 10 oz. so I would take half of it home for dinner.

I ended up getting fajitas, but I didn't realize it came with beans and rice. I didn't eat the beans, rice or tortillas. I still lost some weight for that week, but I'm sure not as much as I would have! Oh, well....
