Ok last Monday was my offical restart date and am already down 5 lbs. I know that it is mostly water and my body adjusting to 500 cal and almost no carbs but I do love the loss on the first week. If only it would be like that every week, lol.

Erin, thank god for you! I was back up too, like five pounds, so haven't been posting. Another week of week 1 this week - starting Monday. And while I'm down almost 7 pounds since Monday, I'm still not in ketosis. I feel like I'm banging my head against the wall. I didn't have ANY of these issues the first time!! It's making me crazy!

I back from a crazy week, and really just stopping in to say hello. We were at Disney World all weekend, and although I tried my best to eat healthy, I did not eat on plan. I did walk non stop for 4 days so I am hoping that did something. I am not weighing myself until Monday to give myself a few extra days. I am also hoping to be back in ketosis by then. But on top of all of that my husband left this morning to start his new job in Missouri. My girls and I will be here until school gets out in 7 weeks. So I am a single mom for the next 7 weeks and I have to pack our whole house to move......by myself. So I am hoping I don't give in to stress eating. Wish me luck.

Good luck Lins! I know how hard it is to stop yourself from eating when stressed out. Sending warm thoughts your way.

Hi ladies,

Congrats on the losses and reaching new milestones! I have no such success to report After a good week one re-do, I went on vacation and did pretty well. But after the rest of vacation week at home, and it being TOM, I was actually up from the 161 I re-started at. I am starting over AGAIN this week in hopes that by next Friday I can at least post a weight that starts with a 15-something..The 160s are my nemesis. I've got to bust out of here for good!

Good luck, Lins. We will all be cheering you on for the next seven weeks and beyond.

Barb I'm right there with you. My set point has been 158.....I have found it impossible to get lower than that in the past. With Medi I finally broke through (after a HUGE stall). I'm working through it again, and I'm having success "changing things up" with both my calories, and exercise. Right now I'm also forcing myself to avoid the scale. I moved my scale into the spare bathroom, and since I only believe my "first thing in the morning" weight, I hurry and have a cup of coffee, then I don't even want to weigh myself...........funny what mind games we play isn't it?
I'll report back in a couple days as to my progress.

Ha! Yup, you can pretty much guarantee if I'm off the wagon, I won't be posting. No need to bring everyone else down...

I'm getting in that roller coaster of losing and gaining 5 pounds at a time and going back and forth with week 1. That can't be good. I wish I wasn't so all or nothing. That has sabotaged me in more ways than one...

So exciting to read all of the progress here though. I need to check in every day to keep my act in gear.

Hello Ladies!!
Had my most painful sinus surgery yesterday, and I'm so thankful it doesn't look like it was a cancerous mass afterall....instead it was from years of infection that caused overgrowth. I don't have the pathology results back yet but the surgeon was quite sure it was from all the mold that I had been living with in this home the past 6 years, and finally discovered it/got rid of it in February. I had been SO SICK for SO long!! It was growing in connection piece that had 4" X 8 foot fabric piece connecting heater below to air ducts above. Didn't find the problem til old broken down humidifier was removed from where attached to water heater and heater unit. I think that was also making my 17 1/2 year old indoor cat unhealthy...he too looks better! (Poor baby!)

Cannot take my Metformin until Saturday due to anesthesia on Thursday. Eating popsicles due to sore throat from having breathing tube in during surgery, also sore due to sinus drainage. I'm able to eat food too, but not ready to cut calories right now while healing. So, I plan to get back on plan Sunday or so.

We can DO this girls!!

I just realized that 2 years ago today I started with Medi at a weight of 228 (and I'm only 5'2")! There sure have been a lot of ups and downs, but I have been able to maintain MOST of my weightloss......even though I was not able to keep going to the clinic. I believe that had I been able to keep getting the meds and shots, I would have gotten to goal.....oh well.

I have to say that in the past I have never kept any of the weight off this long, and by this point I had regained ALL plus some.

Thanks for all of the support and help I've gotten from all of my Medi friends here on LCF! It sure made (and continues to make) this whole journey easier

Thanks Deb....BTW how are you feeling since your surgery? Sinus surgery is aweful (remember I'm a PACU RN?) but it sounds like once you're healed you'll really flourish!

Our house has been on again, off again for a short sale.....right now it's on! We had a contract after just 1 or 2 showings but because someone at the mortgage company didn't "understand" a short sale, she nixed the whole thing and the buyer found something else. Due to the mortgage company's "mistake" (and by the way it's the company that BOTH my Son and Daughter work for) they have offered us a cash insentive to put the house back on the market.....so we did. We've had a couple showings this past 2 weeks, but no contract yet. I'm taking a very layed back attitude about it. I believe everything happens for a reason.

We'll move to Jacksonville once we get the house sold. I'd love to be helping DD with wedding plans in person instead of over the phone......you remember those days all too wll I'm sure!

Hey Everyone! Im looking for a little advice because I'm getting a little discouraged. Ive been on MWL since March 29 and have only lost 6.4 lbs. (4 weeks). Ive been following the diet pretty stringently with only a two or three cheats all together. I have lost about 9 lbs in fat with my water always fluctuating. Especially this past week since its that time of the month. I just don't know whats going on. I didn't eat a tremendous amount of calories before the diet so it wasn't that big of a change in terms of calories, I did eat lots of carbs which I have since cut out. I started off weighing 159 so I don't have a tremendous amount to lose. Im exercising 4 times a week and drinking tons of water. I am still in ketosis although the sticks have gotten lighter as i continue on. Can someone please help and give me any advice, I'm not ready to give up! :/

Mary!!

Yes, it is quite uncomfortable; I'm taking a single Tyl #3 about every 4 to 5 hours. The surgeon had to remove quite a bit of bone to open up my right frontal sinus and I have discomfort therefore in the eyebrow and nose area on the right. On the left he removed a large mass, that was resultant from the mold previously above/within the heater area of our home. That mass had become partially calcified and had been putting pressure on my facial nerve so that the left side of my face has been numb off and on for 1 year....worse in the past 4 wks. But now it is not numb at all!! Praise the Lord!! Having been on all the high powered antibiotics required to kill of pseudomonas and staph aureus there in the past 3 years has really caused me to have tendon pain; so I gave up biking, jogging, swimming. Time to get back into that now! My last infection was in Feb and I was put on Levaquin (for the 3rd time in 3 years!), painful to my hips, shoulders, and knees. I had also been on Ciprofloxin 6 times in the past 3 years, with the same aches.

Don't get discouraged......re-read what you've written and all of your answers are there. #1 you don't have a lot to lose. #2 you've lost 9 (NINE) pounds of fat!!! That's more than 2 pounds a week. Your body will naturally PAUSE/PLATEAU to adjust for the loss. #3 You're exercising 4 times a week.......many people retain water after a strenuous workout (you didn't say what kind of exercise you do) My clinic suggested only moderate aerobic (like fast walking) at first. In fact they told me not to exercise at all the first couple of weeks. #4 The color of the "sticks" doesn't matter. Ketosis is like being pregnant.....either you are, or you're not. Some people (my DH) NEVER show they are in ketosis. Some people use all of their ketones for energy so it never shows on the "stick". You didn't get overweight in one month, so it won't come off any faster. Just keep doing what you're doing (minus the cheats) and the weight will come off.

Have your clinic check over your food diary and see if they see anything glaring that might be holding you back, like too much sodium

Read the past threads here on LCF and you'll get lots of ideas. I think you're probable even ahead of the curve right now, so just sit back and get ready to shop for new (smaller) clothes!

Deb, Glad to hear you are already starting to feel the benefits of your surgery

Congrats to Mary on living this healthier lifestyle for two years! You have motivated and inspired so many of us.

Mary's medi-versary got me thinking about how we sometimes beat ourselves up for not being at our ideal weight, when the truth is, before starting this program many of us would have paid/tried/done anything to weigh what we now weigh. I sure know I would have!

Today I am going to focus on the positive and be grateful for how far I have come and that I have this board to turn to to share successes and struggles and I'm sending all of you a pat on the back. Just by being here posting/reading, we are doing something positive for ourselves.

Barb

First week on my restart is done and I've lost 12.8lb ( Gotta count that .8). So far so good I kept my calories down to 500-550 without any AP and really wasn't hungry. I have kept up with my exercise level because I hate the soreness after missing a week or 2. Have a good week everyone!

way to go on the loses! Hope to have some good stuff to report tomorrow

@thompsej just stick with it, the less you need to lose the harder it is, just remember that each time you kick yourself out of ketosis with the carbs your wasting 3 days!! It seems with exercise its harder also as you are gaining muscle weight vs. fat so stay positive and try taking measurements too
