Beginning The Medi Diet by myself. What are the choices of food for each phase?
Hey guys,
So after Thanksgiving, I am starting the Medi diet again, except this time without the appetite suppressants and going to the clinic. I just need a refresh on what I can eat on Phase 1, 2, and 3? All I remember is that on phase one, you can only eat meat and dairy (cheese sticks, low carb yogurt) for the first week. Is that correct? Thanks, and wish me luck! -Chapman182 |

Chapman,
I am starting Week 1 on Friday also! I am staying low carb tomorrow, but eating turkey, veggies, and low carb pumpkin dessert. Friday is back to 500 calories of protein to get back in ketosis! I have added a few pounds that I need to get rid of over the past month. I don't want December to be an excuse for getting to far away from my maintenance range. The first week 1 thread (Welcome Newbies! Helpful info for week 1.) has a grocery list posted by Susie on the first page. Week 1 is typically 500 calories of lean protein only. Week 2 and beyond allows for 2 vegetable servings or 1 fruit & 1 vegetable serving each day, I believe. You also get a few fat servings each week beyond week 1 to keep the gall bladder happy. Don't forget all of the liquids you need to drink, including an drink with electrolytes! I think it would be really tough to do without the appetite suppressant and I would be a little worried to go so low in calories without a doctor's supervision, so be careful! There are others on this board that have done week one with more calories, just keeping to lean protein, that have done well. If you have difficulty staying at the 500 calories, add more lean protein. I feel that the point is to get your body into ketosis quickly so you have the benefit of the fat burning and natural appetite suppression. Post and let me know how you are doing & I will do the same. Happy Thanksgiving! |

Im doing this on my own too. I've been trying since October, but with 5 kids and a husband that eat and bring in all the stuff in the house I haven't done as well as I wanted. I am on day 2 of week one again. I am hoping by March 16th to be down 2 pants sizes minimum, not sure how much weight that will be. The first time I did this the first week I lost 10 lbs.
This is the worst time of year, but I figure if I can get through this I can get through anything! Nikki |

Way too much time on my hands!
|
I am going to start this Monday. I made an appointment. I have gained 25 pounds since I quit smoking taking me from size 0 (which I was for years due to low carbing and felt happy and well) at 120 to 145 (size 4-6). I also have thyroid disease and just had my thyroid out due to cancer. I have fibromyalgia and carbs make me almost crippled with arthritis but I still eat them I think due to quitting smoking and self medicating with carbs. I am hoping to use this as a tool to get in control and back to eating like I should. hope I can pop in and check out how you are doing

You can do it
the first week is meat only week two you add vegies (two serving a day) or one fruit and one vegie week three you add nuts, cheese, jello sf, yogart sf, and that is pretty much it until you get to maintaince... or goal |
