**Naturally Nutricious November for MWL**
November rolls around again! Has it already been a year? Now comes the start of the holiday season. This is the time of year when we have to search for those food choices that are good choices and healthy choices...on program. Not all that hard but necessary to keep up the losses! You will find a lot of Thanksgiving recipes in the threads that will help you as well.
What are your goals for November? For the holiday season? Are you finding enough time to exercise outside now that the weather is cooling down? Or are you moving your exercise inside if the weather is getting toooooooo cool? You all CAN do this! ![]() Jo

I'm turning 40 at the end of next month (!!!), and my goal is to get under 200lbs. I'm pretty sure that will take the edge off somewhat.
I'm researching alternatives to the B-12 & B-6 shots ... as well as OTC help with appetite so I can venture out on my own without losing a step. Being the holidays, the weekly visits are starting to put a bit of strain on my budget. Would they still take you on maybe once or twice a month? Even still in the acute phase? |

FYI: I hope that everyone that indulged in halloween candy is doing at least 4 days of week 1 to rid your body of the sugar! Drink lots of water too, happy detoxing

my clinic sees me every other week and because im not taking the apatite surp. anymore its the same cost as a normal weekly visit. Also because im not taking the rx anymore they give me free b1/b6 shots once a week, so in between the weeks that i go i still get my b12 shots and once a week my b1/b6. my clinic is very nice about this because they know im a poor college student =(.

I hit 50 lbs lost last week! I was so excited it took me 2.5 months for this! My clinic gave me a $50 card to a spa near by to get any service that I liked! I'm so excited to get my massage in a few weeks!

I weighed in today, first time with jeans and long sleeves LOL and lost 1.7 of fat BUT gained .6 water and .5 muscle. Still I am very happy, old clothes are literally falling off, had to get new pants last week! Hope to reach goal in 2-3 weeks and head into maintainance. |

I do believe you should do 4 days of week 1. My clinic always suggested to do 4 days of week 1 if you have induldged in foods that are not on your MEDI list. You should check with your clinic to see what they recommend!

On another note, does anyone ever eat the Atkins bars? They are very low in NET carbs, high in calories, but I'd halve them as a dessert treat. Or should I wait until maintainance? Also I must say Diet Rite soda is the most disgusting drink ever created. I got it as an occasional soda treat that was sodium-free (to reduce bloating) but I'll take water weight over trying to drink that foul beverage. Ugh. |

I do have the Atkins bars. Sometimes I just need a 'treat' and it is better than blowing it on something stupid!
I personnally like the bars that are in the 140-180 calorie range over the 200 calorie ones. I didn't like the flavor and texture. The ones I like best are the Atkins Advantage Day Break-Chocolate Chip Crisp Bar and the Atkins Advantage Day Break-Peanut Butter Fudge Crisp Bar. For these I count both calories and carbs as it falls into both. |

I love the Endulge and Advantage bars, the chocolate caramel nut roll IS a Baby Ruth LOL I also got the Dr Carbrite toasted coconut bars, at 200 calories they are HUGE! Very tasty too. I also am enjoying the Atkins mocha cafe latte shake in the mornings with ice and extra Truvia mixed in the blender, delicious frappe chocolate coffee goodness.
My biggest question though is: Do we count total carbs or net carbs?? My clinic is clueless, you people here seem more dialed-in than they are. Last edited by hyonlyf; 11-03-2011 at 07:22 AM.. |

I eat the Adkins bars when I'm trying to make up calories I burned at the gym and not really that hungry (10g protein). Since I don't really eat fruit, my clinic said it was okay. They said it was okay if I had the Pure Protein bars, too (20g protein)... I found some that only have 7-9 carbs (but if you look for those, don't confuse sugar with carbs! I fell for this the first time. lol ) |

Ahh just what I wanted to hear!!!!
![]() It is very hard to abstain while doing these 4 days of week 1. I will power walk/slow jog tonight for 45 minutes and see if it helps. I haven't tried the Supreme Protein Carb Conscious bars and they are delicous but high in calories. My activity level is fairly sedentary except for my 2-3x week power walking so the calories make most bars prohibitive for me. Soon I will try making some desserts with almond flour, especially excited about a recipe I found for Tres Leches cake. Thanksgiving is coming and I want to get some menu items that I can enjoy planned for the family dinner at the in-laws. Want to add that I made oopsie rolls the other day, smelled like old stale white bread. Reminded me of old bread before the mold showed up, the kind we fed to the ducks when I was a child. May try again and do a more savory oopsie with herbs and spices. Last edited by hyonlyf; 11-03-2011 at 07:36 AM.. |

I make the oopsie rolls sweet ... with 4tsp of Splenda, a tsp of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg and a tsp of vanilla.
They smell amazing ... no moldy smell. lol And when you add a little squirt of Redi-whip ... OMG. ![]() Last edited by christyran1228; 11-03-2011 at 08:45 AM.. |

This is my first post on these monthly running threads, so I have 2 questions to start out. I am just starting my day 2, and woke up with a headache. Is this already a carb withdraw headache? Ughh
Also. is there anyone here on MWL that has lost over 100 pounds and kept it off and is still posting here after at least one year since hitting 100 or more? OK, nice to be reading all this good info, hope to get to know people as time goes on.. |

Unfortunately, the head aches are common ... they should go away after the first couple of days. There are a few that pop in every once in while that have lost a significant (100+) amount of weight ... but not very regularly that I can tell. There are a few 70+ & 80+ 'ers, though. |

You betcha! I lost 112 pounds and on Dec 18,2011...it will be 3 years since I walked in the MWL Clinic door. My weight is stable with only a 3-5 pound shift now and then, and back again to goal. I have learned lessons that will last the rest of my life, and I am more grateful to MWL than I can ever say! I reached goal in Sept of 2009. You CAN do this! ![]() Jo |

Atkins Bars
Hi Y'all....
A little advice about those Atkins bars.....do NOT eat too many of them!!! I developed a taste for those things and was using them as a meal replacement... the unknown factor is the sugar alcohols in them. Those will set off a rather unsettling side effect GAS!!! ![]() The smell was unbelievable Anything that has maltitol, erythitol, etc can cause GI upset-gas and/or diarrhea The good thing about sugar alcohols-they are low glycemic index and will affect blood sugars only slightly BUT because of the above factors, be careful!! Yep,us old timers do check in regularly I will say that all of you are very supportive of each other and your advice seems to be spot-on!!cindy |

Jo I love your post! Thanks for sharing your success, and continued perserverance! This is a battle people. If being healthy was EASY, everyone would be. Today is my 9 months lowcarb anniversary. I have officially lost 65lbs as of TODAY!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I would like to share this quote, because it truly touches my heart today. "First we form habits, then they form us. Conquer your bad habits or they will conquer you." Rob Gilbert Self-control, in regards to food, has always been the hardest obstacle in my life to overcome. I truly BELIEVE that I have the ability to stay the course, and be a success story. God willing, I will fight this battle until the day that I die, but I just hope that it gets easier as time passes! If I can do this, YOU can do it. I used to be the closet eater, cookie hoarder, candy bar glutton, ice cream hatch, eat so much that I may throw-up woman. Now I am the happy, energized, lead by example, come to me for weight loss adivce, chic that doesn't eat bread, SUPERwoman It's not easy being different, saying no to the fries, the pasta, the over processed foods, the pizza, etc. etc. etc. BUT it's a HELL OF A LOT EASIER, than being the overweight, fattest person in the room, hate summer because it means shorts and swimsuits, kind of gal! Keep your head up, when it gets hard, think of why you want this. What does this mean for you? What freedoms are you looking for? Aren't you sick of always being on a "diet", screwing up, then having to start back again?!?! It's a lot easier to make the commitment to change, than it is to have to start a new "diet" tomorrow ![]() P.S. I hope you all like my Halloween Avatar *lol*

Wooohooo! Great job! ![]() I had a really weird weigh-in this morning, and we tried it on both of the scales there and got the same thing ... I'm still trying to figure out what could have caused this: -3.8 lbs +3.2 fat mass -5.20 water -7.0 FFM -1.5 waist (-10.5 total so far )There's no way you can gain that much fat in one week when you're vigilant about calories, fat & carb intake. lol |
