So here is my dilemma, recoveing from pneumonia, on steroids, do I still low carb? What about calories?? I haven't been eating much, only around 800 calories and I find that difficult (not much of an appetite). Should I continue on plan? I know it sounds silly to think about weight loss after being sick (or while getting better), but I am absolutely sedentary now for at least a week...Don't want to be a steroid monster.

Trish,

I'd say listen to your body right now and rest up. You have pneumonia afterall!! Your body needs to use all it's energy healing, not widdling away calories through exercise (). If you choose, go ahead and do the 800 calories cuz we know it will be good quality calories that your body needs to heal. Don't worry about the scales.....steroids can cause weight gain, but if you are eating well it shouldn't be fat gain. JMHO

Hi Trish, So good to see you back on the boards! I stopped going last spring for budget reasons. Been doing it on my own, very slowly. Hoping to get to goal by the holidays. Are you going to Wakefield?

Crackers!!!

Found some Wasa Crisp'n light 7 grain crackers at the local grocery. Yum! Don't have a ton of flavor, but nothing off. Kind of like a paper cracker or Melba toast that is more crunchy than hard. About 2" by 3", three crackers have 60 cals, 11 net carbs, 0 fat. Good with Laughing Cowgarlic and herb cheese!!

Just a quick update, I have been not able to lose any weight for awhile now and I went for a blood test only to find out my already slow thyroid and is slower and needs an increase in my meds. I am waiting for the doctor to up my meds and have to wait for them to kick in and then maybe I will see some changes. It really is makes it hard to want to keep on exercising and doing all the right things when you see no results for so long. OK vented and moving on. Hope you all have a happy halloween.

I had the same thing! Couple weeks of 1 and 1.5 lost. Upped my meds 25 micrograms (started last Saturday). Weigh in yesterday down 1.6. I think it will get better! I wasn't able to exercise at all either.

Post what you find out.

Hang in there, Cathy. Just think of how far you have come and don't give up. Hopefully the change in meds will do the trick, but no matter what the scale says, you are doing a great thing for yourself by living a healthier lifestyle.

What a significant loss! Wow! Are people stopping and commenting everywhere you go? I bet people are amazed :-)

Which brings up another issue to you all...when people ask, and they do, do you tell them how you are losing weight?

I for one, am honest. Why hide it? I also figure I could run into them at the clinic at some point LOL which I do every.time.I.go. I always "know" someone in the lobby as I wait for my appointment, kinda funny I think.

Congrats again to all you big losers here!! I hope to see some photos someday. I am going to dig around my camera and see if I have any full body shots to post a before and after.

I'm still hanging out and read many of the posts.

I gained about 5 pounds back then just couldn't lose them.....I'm happy to report I'm losing again!

We're going on our first cruise (for a week) over Thanksgiving! I'm ready, and know with my knowledge and my love of being active I'll do fine!

I'd check with your clinic about these. They ARE lower cal, and ZERO fat, but NOT low carb. JMHO

Mary T8M - I know they are not low carb, but at least not like regular crackers. I have only had them once. I'm the type that has to have something forbidden once in a while or I go totally off plan. This gives me an option for Sunday's when everyone breaks out the cheese and crackers.

How exciting for your cruise! We LOVE to cruise! There are so many food options, you will be able to make great choices without feeling deprived. I know I have learned so much since starting - I don't know if I'll ever eat a baked potatoe again - not worth it!

I miss cereal the most. At night that was my "dessert" a bowl of cereal, and it was always somewhat healthful like shredded bran wheat. I guess never again :-( that seems so unrealistic.

Or now that it's cool, a hot bowl of buteery sweet oatmeal.

I know what you mean. DH and I were talking about what foods we miss.....potatoes didn't even enter my mind! guess I don't miss them! LOL I said I really don't miss pasta either....he does, and said he MAY have some on the cruise.....NOT me, I'm no longer interested in things like that, and I HOPE I continue to feel that way when all of those high carb options are right there.

Forgive me Medi, for I have sinned.

Last night I ate......candy. Not much, but enough that I was certainly knocked out of ketosis. So I am doing week 1 for 3 days and see if it puts me back on plan.

I chart food on ************, LOVE it for those of you not wanting to use the booklet, also has a phone app! Anyway, yesterday I consumed 1000 calories which really amazed me as I didn't eat much candy at all, guess it really packs a caloric punch.

Did anyone else sin ?

Yesterday was my birthday too so I did have a very small serving of cake & ice cream, but I was still in ketosis this morning.

I also had my weekly appointment this morning -- lost 3 pounds (2 fat, 1 water)!!

Hopefully, everyone else will finish off the cake and candy SOON!

You are not alone ... TOM + Halloween = temptation not even a Saint could resist. lol

I still had a trace amount of ketones this morning, but it's pretty crazy how damn guilty a handful of chocolate covered almonds and a snack-sized Reese's cup can make you feel. I wouldn't even have thought twice about it if I had been able to get to the gym yesterday, but back on the wagon today.

At least the treats had some protein! lol
