Hello I have been doing Medi since the end of Aug a little over 5 weeks I am down 18 pounds. I have PCOS and the past 2 years have been trying seriously to lose weight I tried Jenny, WW and even have been going to a weight loss doctor of the past 2 years and with all that I only lost about 20 pounds. I like Medi it is not easy but what attracted me was on the website I saw several people with PCOS who had lost weight. With PCOS know that you may lose weight at a slower pace, you also need to eat more often. I have found this plann is working I am losing fat and with exercise I am feeling better every day. Where are you located? Please feel free to ask my any questions I am still new but here if you need me. I finally feel that I found something that I have hope to get this weight off with! Have you started yet?

i have a severe case of PCOS for a blonde. i just went yesterday for the first time, so we'll see what happens with the weight. I'm currently on Glumetza for insulin resistance and my doctor when I was recently diagnosed for the first time told me to get the book " Insulin resistance diet"... it's similar to what medi teaches, with a little more help when you aren't charting everything later (they say a radio of ____ protein to ____ carbs in an hours time, etc. I would suggest it.. it helped as a supplemental resource for me so far.

I have PCOS and since I started Medi in October I have lost 26 lbs. so it definitely works. I too, have tried everything else with no real results. As I get older, it gets harder - not sure if that is the PCOS or just age! This program seems to be allowing me to make a life change, it's not just a diet, so hopefully this will be the answer. Amanda: be sure not to weigh yourself too often. I would go to my clinic on a Saturday and weigh myself on say Thursday and not see any results, but when I would go back the next Saturday I lost 2-3 lbs! Be sure to log what you eat - the counselors are a great resource when your loss slows down.

I have it as well, and the big reason I decided to do this was because we've been TTC for 16 mo with no luck, and it took my mom losing 75lbs to get pregnant with me, so I really feel if I lose it I'll get pregnant easier.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2001, but have struggled with my weight since I was 8. I lost 60lbs on South Beach 6 years ago but gained 45 of it back and tried it again, but it didnt work so well. I think it's my age increase (hit my 30's!) and probably that I work nights now and that changes your metabolism. This seemed like my only option, I really need the structure as well as the appetite suppressant, which does seem to work for me. I'm just starting week 2 and I'm nervous my weight loss will stop but if I follow it like I'm supposed to, and keep my carbs less than 30 a day and keep my calories low I don't see how I can fail..so keeping my hopes up! Oh and I do take Metformin, but more for the TTC than the PCOS, my insulin levels have been normal for a few years after I got them under control. Now just to get through the holidays! |

Hi Ladies!
I have PCOS and lost 100 pounds in 10 months on Medi in 2009! It DOES work for weight loss! I ended up on bedrest with my son and gained a ton back during that, so now I'm back on Medi again to lose it! For me, the first time around I was able to completely stop all PCOS meds once I got under 200 pounds. At that point my physician told me that based on my labs, she would not even had diagnosed me as PCOS anymore. I do believe this diet will help you lose the PCOS weight! I also needed regular exercise, which I did in the form of my Wii Fit and yoga classes, in order to see the best results. I would lose around 1 pound per week but with exercise, doubled that at least, often more. PCOS stinks but it IS treatable with weight loss! I needed Clomid to concieve my 1st daughter, my 2nd was an "oops" and my son was all-natural once I was at a healthy weight I can't wait to get back into the plan and get skinny again!

Thanks for your post Mommy, I'm trying to conceive, have been for a long time, and talked to my fertility specialist and OB and we felt the weight loss was probably my best chance, especially since my mom tried it all and only got pregnant by accident with me when she lost weight.
I know I'm already changing my PCOS because I stopped by period on my own last month, without the help of drugs. I am on the bcp but only because last month I bled so bad I became anemic, so I opted to do 1-2 mo on the pill to help regulate me, plus I don't want to get pregnant while on the AS. I have a co-worker who lost weight and got rid of all her PCOS symptoms, but as she's slacked on her eating and gained about 15lbs back she's already having problems again, and she is a great support when it comes to my reason for doing this...to be healthy, happy and conceive a healthy baby! |

I find this thread very promising. I have been struggling w/ pcos and wieghtloss resistance for many years. I recently heard about medi, but there are no clinics in my area. Closest is 4hrs away. So, I'm going to try and do it myself. I have 150lbs to loose. And have tried a lot of other things. When gluten free a few months ago, it has helped the depression, but haven't lost much wieght.
Thank You for sharing! |
