Ferrarimomof3, Kandi, jbjb and others - Stick with it is my recommendation. I don't want to discourage you, but I remember really feeling GOOD in my body and in my control with MWL way of eating (WOE)....then when I got to transition I didn't weigh and measure as I should have but eye-balled amounts, then came holidays and I'd only gained about 5 lbs, within about 5 months I was in a really tough grad school course plus working two jobs (each part-time, but still took a lot of time) and grad school project acted like a third part-time job because of the hours that semester. Well, I got up to 150's to 160's. I was down to 150's in preparation for DD's wedding a couple weeks ago, but the entire wedding week was spent at a fabulous bed and breakfast in CO and eating out, followed by returning home to restart semester of teaching my nursing students and taking my final grad school course with extensive self designed project! Needless to say, I did not get off the vacation WOE plan and I "plan" to restart every other day for the past 2 weeks!!! I miss that "feeling GOOD in my body and in my control"...my MWL doc diagnosed me early on with insulin resistance, and when I eat too many carbs my body just puffs out like a marshmallow and I feel horrible, including body and joint achiness. It's better to be Fit!!
Now you gals are motivating ME!!! It is sometimes hard to make time for myself when I'm so dedicated to doing well in so many other things....I sound like such a woman, huh?! I rejoined the YMCA and have an appt this afternoon. I will just have to make scheduled stops to that destination like I have other appts in my calendar, and not make excuses. My best personal exercise experiences happen outdoors, last year with introducing jogging into my life for the first time after building up to it with C25K (you can google that!), and this summer with bicycling and swimming. My short term goal is to keep up the swimming in the YMCA and add some time on machines and in a couple of aqua zumba classes (for fun!) Eventually I'd like to add yoga. You are all welcome to check out the Energy In/Energy Out thread and feel free to post what you are eating and how you are exercising in order to stay accountable....if you like!

Week 3 weigh in, down 2 lbs of fat. Is anyone else having a harder time with weeks three and four? I'm on week four and getting to the point where the excitement has worn off, the weight loss has slowed down, and I don't feel like writing down everything I'm eating anymore. Especially when I start adding back in a few (healthy) eating out meals, the calories are escaping me. (Moe's taco salad, no shell, for example- do y'all just estimate the calories when you eat out?) Any suggestions, ideas or encouragement would be so so appreciated. I'm so tempted to cheat just because I'm getting bored with it!

Lindsann, I can help you with Moe's. They have a great nutritional calculator (Panera does too, and I'm sure there are others) that you can not only find out how much, say, a salad is, but you can add and subtract individual ingredients to see the carb and calorie content as you go. I realize it isn't perfect as the employees are not measuring accurately but its a heck of a lot closer than guessing. I bring my own dressing in a small container. I also watch closely when they add to my salad and will ask them to use less if I think they are grabbing to much cheese or ?
I figured out things I can eat at 3 or 4 restaurants so hubby and I can go out at least once a week. Moes is one. Ruby Tuesdays has a great little steak and grilled vegt. 300 for the steak and around 80 for 2 sides of grilled vegt. The Creole Catch is a 2 good size pieces of fish and with the grilled vegt it is 280 TOTAL calories. Don't give up. Its a strict diet but hopefully you will see good results that motivate you. |

Mara, this may seem silly but when I was slipping on my journaling I went out and got a cute little note book to keep my calorie count. Think about what made you call Medi. How did you feel then compared to now. Look for some new recipes. Read the blog Escape from obesity...one of my favorites.

What's kept me *keeping on* is recipes. Go through all of the recipes here and on the Medi website. I've made one or two new things a week and haven't been disappointed yet! My family has even loved a few of the things I've made!
I didn't have a stellar week 4 or 5, as a matter of fact I've lost fewer and fewer pounds each week. I'm just now in the middle of my 6th week and according to my scale, I'm on track to beat my week 1! My problem is that I was working out and not eating enough. She bumped up my calories to about 700 last week, and so far the weight is melting off. I haven't had a problem going out to eat yet ... hopefully by now you're getting more in tune with what a normal serving looks like, so it's not just a guess ... it's an educated one! Hang in there, you're doing great! ![]() |

I have my 2nd weigh-in tomorrow, but my scale at home is showing numbers I haven't seen in over 3 1/2 years. Even better, today I am wearing pants that I haven't worn in I-don't-remember-how-long!!!!!!!!!

Miche! That's what I'm talking about!! It's a great feeling to be in control. When I'm in control of my eating my life seems to be in control. It's true, there is nothing I can't deal with when my eating in on track. If I can figure out why I let myself get off track, I'd be golden.
Have a great day! |

Progress not perfection. Everyone keep going strong and don't beat yourselves up for minor slip ups. We're only human. Whenever i make a mistake, I just remember that even with minor slip ups, I'm doing much less harm than when I was binge eating out of control.

Just finished my second month (4 weeks that is, not 30 days). My goal was to lose 8-10 pounds and I weighed in this am with a 9.7 # loss for the month!
I'm very happy with that. Would love to repeat that for a few more months, but taking it a day/week at a time! So almost 30 pounds in 8 weeks. Yep, very happy.Bought a bike on Friday and rode all over our small town the past few days. Didn't even think about being "too fat" to ride a bike, which is definitely what I was saying last year at this time. Hang in there everyone! |

Yeah maramom!
I agree with guitarjg - just keep going. Even though I am not far along, I can see sticking with it. I too have been looking at recipes, going to place an order toNetrition sometime this week! Eatting out - since I had to travel last week, I found some great websites and some crap ones. Burger King has the best! Can can delete individual ingrediants. Arbys salad is very good, plus the make it when you order so you can say no cheese and carrots. If there is an O'Charleys theyhave a very good nutrition guide. We don't have one but it is where I travel. Going to Olive Garden tonight. Taking my own dressing, getting fish. And no breadsticks! Last edited by jbjb93; 09-19-2011 at 02:12 PM..
