One more question....what color are the sticks if you aren't in ketosis? Do they just stay the same color as "before"?

lol .... mine have also gone bad. They don't turn any color that's on the bottle, but I figured as long as it was different than the color it started off as I'm okay.

And I've left mine in my bathroom, so, I can't complain. lol

The color of the stick if you aren't in ketosis won't change.

ketosis

Keep in mind that after you have been in ketosis for a while, it will stop showing on the sticks. I don't know why, but my clinic told me that. Clearly if you are sticking to 40 carbs or less, you are in ketosis!

When mine went bad, they turned a light brown color.

I always test so early in the am, I didn't pay attention to the color of the stick pre testing! So today, I took a look and you are right..they are light brown already instead of the pale peach they were before.

Annoying because I still have 20 of 60 left and I was careful to keep the lid on tight and the bottle out of the bathroom. I'm going to bring the bottle to my appt tomorrow and see if they'll replace them.

By the way, i found the "ketones" thread late last night. Read it all and it really helped. I gotta remember to use the search option!

Went for my weigh-in today and was down 4 pounds. What was really nice was being down 8 pounds of fat since my last weigh-in.

I let one of the counselors at the clinic know that she was "my favorite" several weeks ago. I notice now that she will offer to see me if another is about to pick up my chart and head my way...LOL. Works for me!

Today I told her about the ketone sticks going bad. She told me I should just let them test my ketones twice a week, at my weigh-in and on my booster shot day. Anyone else doing this? It would be fine with me as I am keeping my carbs around 15 grams a day or even lower so I don't think I would fly out of ketosis but don't want to do anything unwise.

Also wondering what the rest of the staff will think about me doing this. Though for 70.00 a week it should be fine!

Oh, and down 3.5 pounds this week!

I would love to join this conversation! I am on week 8 down 18 lbs almost to goal weight, but I am feeling like crap. I feel dizzy all the time and stressing about tranistioning is freaking me out. I don't know how much longer I can stay on the diet. I did so good and felt fine up to about a week ago. Any encouragement would be great!

aab2011 - You shouldn't be feeling dizzy ALL the time.....are you going to your clinic? Are you taking the AS, how many times a day? Have you had your blood sugar checked? Your thyroid? Are you taking all the vitamins and replacements? It's cool that you are almost to your goal weight....could you post your stats like we do? Like MaraMom above? When you feel badly you might try some chicken broth. Best to you!

Yes I go to my clinic every week, I don't do two shots because I live to far away. I am not feeling dizzy all the time its just at random times of the day, and I just feel like crap this past week. I am usually a big exerciser and have had no energy to exercise. I am on as 3-4 a day it just depends on the day, but I think I am ready to be done with them. I am only 2 lbs from goal weight and hoping at my appointment on thursday I am there. Thanks for the help. I will definitely be talking to my clinic about this.

Also I am super stressed about going into transition worried I will gain everything back. I know I just need to stick with it but any encouragement on that part would be great!

Just relax. You'll do fine if you stick with the program. Carbs or not, if you take in the right amount of calories you cannot, i repeat, CANNOT, gain the weight back.

If you're afraid of binge eating because of carbs, well, that's a struggle and we're all here for support.

Excellent! So happy to read your stats and feel encouraged again myself! Yes, transition is different and you need to commit to it. Just be honest with your clinic, learn from them, and be good to yourself! Then, post some pictures here so we can celebrate with you!!

Yeah Betty! 8lbs fat gone. Woohoo!

aab2011 I am not as far as you so I can't help with that. But i did have some queasy light headed days last week. Wasn't able to eat much which didn't help. I think maybe Ihad a bug as I felt way better after a couple days. Make sure to eat if you eat even someyhing small. Low fat string cheese? Laughing cow cheese is good too. Get the ones with 35 calories.

Let us know how you are doing.

Okay everyone,

I have been missing in this site for a while. I have changed my avatar to an actual picture of myself. (Deb I think you were the one a while back that suggested I do that. Thank you!!) I have also posted some pictures from my journey. I went to weigh in yesterday for the first time in three weeks. I had gotten to where I weighed in every 2 weeks during the summer. It was easier on budget and with kids being home. And then I missed last week due to a program at my girls school. I only lost 2lbs (granted it was all fat) since my last weigh in. But, I can't complain to much that brings my total to 92.6lbs in 36 weeks. I can definitely tell everyone you can do this program. It is a program that continues to work for me. I realized yesterday that I am 8.4lbs away from goal. I wanted to be at goal by now but especially by Friday (hubby's birthday) (It would have saved me on a present. HAHA I am only kidding my husband is great with me now and was before). But, life happens and we don't get everything we want. I say, you know what I am a lot closer than I was 36 weeks ago and I will get there soon enough. I need to bum up the exercise to get past this hump and realized yesterday that I only have 30.8lbs of fat according to medi on me. According to the print out I only have to loose 3.4lbs of fat to reach the 21% fat range. Everyone that sees me tells me to stop losing weight that I am getting to skinny. But, I have to make it to goal. It is a personal thing for me. I have started a lot of weight loss programs in the past and NEVER made it to goal. So, I am determined to make it this time. At that time I will decide if I am to skinny. Although, I would be at the max end of the ideal weight for my height. So, I think I will be okay.

Something I noticed this weekend is this lifestyle has changed everyone in my house. My husband went to put some pants on for church and we realized that all of his pants are to big. My son's clothes are to big, also. They are not even trying to loose anything. They have just become more active with me and as a family as a whole. I usually get to do three walks/runs several times a week. Due to my children want to go with me and we all go at different speeds. What a great by product of this program. My children are really getting involved and I get to spend time with them by themselves doing something I know will be great for them for a lifetime. So, I am now in the process of trying to convince friends to lets do a clothing swap. I am going to go broke on wardrobes. But, I will happily do it. I know that I went off on several things here. Thanks for reading and I promise to check daily from now on.

Remember, you can do it and you are SO WORTH it. My husband keeps telling me this when I get discouraged.

Great inspirations on posts above!! WTG!! It is heartening to hear success stories about how this WILL work. Keep 'em coming.

My 2nd weigh-in today was down 2.2lbs for a total of 10.5 of which 9 is fat!! They were very pleased with that number, me too I have been walking 30m 2x a week, need to get up to 3x though.

I am going out of town again this weekend and hope to behave on the plan. Funny story, last week I was chatting with another soccer mom, confiding I was doing the MWL, smiling she pulled her meds out of her purse LOL We both laughed! She has lost 30lbs so far. What a coincidence that was :-)

It's so awesome to hear everyone doing so well!

to you all!

I didn't have a stellar week, I've been so busy with moving our offices at work over the weekend, on top of my husband's birthday and taking care of my kids' events. Exhausted, and didn't eat enough at all apparently .. "only" down 2lbs this week. Of course, it was only a 6-day week, too.

Seven Times Seven (almost)!

Just finished Week 7, and total weight loss now 47.4 pounds!

I actually missed two weeks visits due to Hurricane Irene, and a death in the family. But my three week total was only about 10 pounds, which I will take given the circumstances. Just celebrated my 49th birthday yesterday, and ready to kick it back into high gear. I was wearing 4XL two months ago, now down to XXL and the occasional XL, even!

To anyone who is facing adversity on other fronts, make sure you always use it as inspiration rather than an excuse. Your health is too important to rationalize about!

Something I noticed this weekend is this lifestyle has changed everyone in my house. .
I am SO happy for you!! You look about 15 years younger!! Love the photos of you side by side, smart way to keep track of how this REALLY has made you lose the weight! So AWESOME!! I am so thankful you are printing your success here!
