Week 2 Help
 
Hello all! Didn't see a thread about week 2 yet, and I had a question. When you are counting your 500-550 calories, I know you don't count in your 2 veggies or healthy fat or snack allowance, but what about other things, such as a sugar free jello snack or a small amount of s/f coffee creamer, or small amounts of sauces with minimal calories? And when do you get to start adding in other ingredients? I see a lot of great veggie recipes on here, but I'm guessing I am only supposed to have the pure form of veggies in week 2, but want to make sure. I could definitely go for some of eggplant parmesan, but I don't think I am supposed to have pasta sauce at this point, even if it is low sugar. :dunno:

There isn't a separate thread for week 2 and beyond....instead we have monthly threads, that start on the 1st of the month. http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/me...hievement.html At that time the previous month's thread is "locked". It has been suggested that posting in the monthly thread will likely get more replys, than starting a new thread for each question or statement. I'm not totally sure about that since we don't have near the traffic that the main lobby for LCF does.....but oh well....that's the way it was when I started, so who am I to do any different???

I would encourage you to read back through several monthly threads, and soon you will see that each clinic is different......you are paying your clinic for advice, so I encourage people to ask how "they" want you to do the program. That said, MANY people find that coming here to ask questions, vent, brag, get support, etc is priceless! We're a GREAT bunch if I do say so myself.

MY clinic wanted me to ONLY add up my protein calories. They told me they were more worried about me NOT getting to my magic number of 500 protein calories, than IF I was over a little by NOT adding in the calories in my SF Jell-o, or my coffee creamer. Personally I tried to keep most foods pretty pure, but as long as it ONLY has ingredients allowed in the acute phase, AND you measure/weigh it you should be fine with the recipes. As far as pasta sauce goes I was not limited after week 1, as long as it was LOW carb, and I measured out the serving size....but again check with your clinic. I know Netrition has several low carb pasta sauces. I just made my own, so I knew what was going into it.

Thanks Mary! Trying to stick to the basics and not going to overboard with sauces, etc. Must be working...lost 3 pounds in week 2. I get to add fruit in now and I'm looking forward to that!
