Just started yesterday......(MWL)
Hi, I just started MWL yesterday and so far, so good. My husband is being amazingly supportive and I feel find so far. I am not taking the Phenertine....but the Hoodia suppressant instead. Anyone have success with that? I am kind of scared of the suppressants anyway and thought I would try with the milder one.
Anyway, my goal for August is to get through the first three weeks! I know I can! |

I go to my initial visit Thursday afternoon, and I'm a little nervous. Although I will say, if the thought of having to give up carbs for a while is making me this anxious, I definitely have a problem that needs to be addressed! I was going to introduce myself a little better with stats and all of that after my visit. I do have a heart murmur, though, which will give me an abnormal EKG. I've been checked out by a cardiologist and I'm fine (common in former athletes), so I don't know if they'll even prescribe me the phentermine even though I've taken it in the past with no problem. We shall see! |

Well at 52 yrs old I just started the C25K program, tomorrow will be day 2. I have been reading all along on everyones success with it but in all honesty running has always had ZERO appeal to me. But I havefound that I am getting stuck in my exercise routines and for some reason reading about Mary's success with the program has inspired me. Of course I would have to start in August in South Florida. Wish me luck!!

Wow August already
Hello all! I'm back from a couple mini trips and one long one. Had to catch up on July posts and August thus far. Missed you guys and found myself wondering how you were when I didn't get online. I see there have been some ups and downs with everyone, such is life
Well it's August now and this is supposed to be the month that I met goal weight I still have 29 more to go, I'm fine with it. I know I feel good and even if it takes me till the end of this year, I will still keep on truckin'Because I know "life happens" and things get in the way and stress you out and sometimes you just a break from thinking so darn much. So here I sit officially in the 170's happier than a pig in poo, because I've never been this weight in my adult life and I feel like I'm on a pink puffy cloud. Thank you to you all for sharing your stories, suggestions, fears and motivational success . It's nice to know there are others out there . Don't know ya,ll but I love ya!

Recently I've been swimming and bicycling...also outdoors. I've got an indoor bicycle machine that I plan to use in the cooler weather, and I'm hoping to rejoin the YMCA to be able to continue swimming. AND, this is my last semester of being a student (crazy schedule) so hopefully I can get exercise into my life more permanently!! If I can do it (not quite 55 yo now) and Mary can do it...YOU CAN TOO!! ![]()

One thing I'd like to know, is how in the world I'm supposed to acclimate myself to this new way of eating, when these women I work with do nothing but order in Chinese and make popcorn in the microwave all day????

It's just plain torture ... lol. I'm sure I'll be fine as soon as I can actually get started with my first appointment tomorrow afternoon, but it seems as soon as I made my first appointment I am more aware of all of the evil temptations.
I should also pay attention to the fact that all of these women, one of whom spent $15K on lapband 2 years ago and you'd never know it, are pretty large woman who really don't seem to care about it. My BFF isn't on the program but she's always been super-anti-carb so I text back & forth all day now for support. She's just happy I'm beginning to see the "light". lol I do have a question, though, and would appreciate some advice. We will be celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday on Saturday and are taking her downtown (San Antonio) for dinner at the Hard Rock and the Alamo Ghost Tour afterward (fun!) and have been looking at the menu to try and figure out in advance what I can eat (will be my 2nd day, first week) ... would a plain lettuce wrap totally sabotage my plan? I'm going between that and just a piece of blackened fish. I have noticed that a lot of places are getting more low/no carb friendly though, so that is comforting. |

Christy - ask your clinic in your visit tomorrow about the eating out question. I would think they'd prefer the blackened fish. You want to get into ketosis ASAP and that happens only by avoiding carbs.
Regarding workplace "drama" -- I'd advise NOT telling your coworkers about being in Mediweightloss or mentioning how much you lose. Instead, if they askjust say that you are packing your lunch today Last edited by Fit2010; 08-10-2011 at 08:43 PM.. |

Doctor's comment
I have been sick lately so I went to my doctor on yesterday. He has not seen me since I first started on Medi. When he walked in the room he immediately said, You have lost a lot of weight. I told him that I've lost 62 pounds so far. Well, my doctor actually kept saying how good I looked. That really made me feel good about what I have been able to accomplish on Medi.
I was going to start going to the clinic again tomorrow but I'm going to wait until I complete the antibiotics that I'm on first which I have to take for 10 days. But as soon as I'm all better then I will be there to get back on track and successfully reach my goal. |

Congrats Betty!! Remember that moment! Now that you've written it down here, print it off....or write it in your journal. Tell about how great you feel and what is "missing" but not "missed" since you are no longer 250 lbs!! Make this memory STICK! You've worked hard and deserve to feel great!

Sweet Jeebus!
Seeing it black & white on paper sure cuts like a knife. ![]() I had my first visit this afternoon, and after those first 2 shots I got ... I could only barely stand 2 bites of that last hooorah hamburger I was going to eat for dinner. lol Everything is bought, weighed and measured and ready to go for tomorrow. ![]() She said the blackened fish was one of the best choices, just nothing on the side. And the pickles and sugar free jello with a squirt of redi-whip she said I could eat week one really eased some of my anxiety ... |

Dont beat yourself up on that. You have made such great progress to this point, it could be so many different reasons like someone said using weights, or other factors. Hang in there, I too have the scale tell me I gained when all I have done is follow the program and exercise to the letter. It will all work out down the road a bit.

Good morning everyone,
It seems like we are all still pushing through. I went yesterday and bought three new pairs of jeans and some more exercise clothes. My jeans were falling off and I was trying to put it off until I made goal and every morning I was praying my exercise pants didn't fall off while walking or running. So, a store here is having a remodel sale and has all clothes 30% off. And, I can't resist a sale. So, I looked on clearance rakes and found a pair of size 6 jeans for$ 4.99 (and then it would be 30%off that). So, my thought was I will try these on and see how far they are from fitting any hopefully they will fit when I reach goal in 17lbs. I found two other size 6's and 1 size 8. I was wearing a size 10. I went to dressing room hoping the size 6 would almost fit so I could justify buying them for later. Well, they fit perfectly and size 8 I took to try on was to big. I was on cloud nine and wanted to shout it from the rooftop. I haven't worn this size since I was a senior in high school 18 years ago. Then, I ran into three people that had not seen me in a while and they were amazed and wanted to know what I had been doing. I was happy to share my story and tell them about Medi. I even had two strangers come up to me want to talk to me about Medi. I had a great day. And I have had a great week. The newspaper reporter Monday, pictures for paper Wednesday, and all this yesterday. I can't wait to see what today holds. Have a great day. And keep up the good work everyone. |
