I go tomorrow for my 2nd weigh-in. I havent cheated at all been weighing everything & writing everthing down. I hope its a good number
I find it so odd that you cant have cheese. I was allowed my 1st week & also yogurt on my 1st week. 2nd week I was allowed either 2 vegs 1/2 cooked or 1 cup raw or 1 veg & 1 fruit from the approved list. And also a fat. I would call your clinic & ask your questions. |

Hey, I think edemame is fine, since it's on the list of vegetarian protein sources. I asked about other dairy, including skim and soy milk, last week because I love my latte's from starbucks and caribou. The counselor told me
when I get near my goal weight we can talk about it. I guess there are too many carbs in it. I am weighing in after my second week on Saturday, lost 13.8 lb first week! Mostly water, but I have been noticing a difference in my clothes |

10.4? 8.3? 13.8 WOW! That is awesome! Good for you all of you! I lost 5.6 and at first I was upset but... I have to realize everyone is diffrent my body does not like to let go of anything!
I asked about it at the clinic yesterday. Shim milk is actually not good but they told me about Almond milk (sugar free, 40 calories and 1 carb) just bought some will add it to my protein shake. Had my third weight in yesterday down another 2 pounds and was thrilled to be down 8 pounds in fat (gained some water weight.) My clothes are feeling lose too down a total of 10 pounds. I have not cheated once either dont want to it is too much money to cheat and I tell myself that food (popcorn, pizza, what ever it is) wont be disappearing for the earth tomorrow so is it CARB WORTHY? LOL answer is no! I looked up Margarita's online and it looks like about 170 calories 0 carbs depending on the size and amount. I love skinny girl Margritas 37.5 calories and 1.4 carbs but for now I am planning to say no to drinks (I dont think I could drink just one) LOL Have a great week ladies! |

Thanks city gal! Glad to know they aren't filled with carbs at least. That was my only cheat this week, and going to weigh in this morning so we'll see how it affected me. I did check and stayed on ketosis throughout the week. JbJb- 7.5 lb of fat is AWESOME! congrats! I'm so excited for everyone here, and that this diet is really working thus far!

You can! I second you about the boards- just reading other people's experiences and ideas on here has made ALL the difference. Weigh in #2 and have lost 5.8 lbs, 5.1 of fat! Total for 2 weeks is 19.6 lb total, 8.3 of fat. The people at clinic I go to were so encouraging and surprised- they said this is definitely not typical, and of course not to expect it every week, but it's exciting right now. Something about the low cal, very low carbs must just click with what my body needs!

losing4me - stay with it! If you get down, read or post here. I was disappointed I wasn't in ketosis on day 4 (day 5). It really pulled me down. Posting here helped so much!
lindsann88 - congrats! Can you believe?? Almost 20lbs! That is fabulous!! |

What wonderful losses for the week!! It is inspiring to read of other's success
I was out of town all weekend and stayed on plan BUT I surely ate more than permitted, if that makes sense? Weigh in tomorrow will tell on me I suppose. This week I am being super careful and will definitely do my walking for 30 minutes. Sadly, I will go out of town this weekend too. Keep it up everyone! |

Thanks jbjb! I am really excited about it. This week is my birthday, so it's a little more rough! Fortunately my parents know about and are totally supportive of medi, so we grilled out steak and had broccoli salad for my special birthday dinner. They served a candle in a jar instead of on a cake for me to blow out! Tonight out with friends was a little harder, but I managed to stick to a low carb margarita and only 2 bites of a birthday cake. I would have passed, but my friend bought it especially for me to the restaurant, and I was afraid of being rude. I'm fully expecting to be kicked out of ketosis tomorrow for it, but still crossing my fingers:-/ Still probably the healthiest birthday I've had in years!
Hyonlyf- good luck at your weigh in! I think it's better at this point to eat more of the allowed items, than fewer of the non-allowed (my understanding anyways), so hopefully it won't slow you down. |

Welcome LiN, you can do it! I thought the 1st week wasn't too terrible at all. My biggest tip is don't take the AS late in day, you'll be up all night, then tired next day.
Keep posting here, even if inconsequential, it will keep you involved and accountable. Remember the anonymity of the WWW, this is the place you can be honest with no judgement, just support. |

Supplements
Thanks for the great welcome! Has anyone here just done the diet and injections withoug the supplements. The medication I take does not allow me to take the appetite suppressant but so far day one has gone pretty well. I am taking the multivitamin and calcium but not the fat burner either because of an allergy to pepper and its derivitave. I actually have had a good day I dont feel hungry. I am sticking with the very lean meats so that the quantity of food is higher. This seems to be helpful. I just wonder if the injections are enough.

Losing, can you take the StaySlim appetite suppressants? They are "over the counter" ones that Medi offers. I am starting week 8 on Monday and that is the only AS I have taken and they work fine. I don't have anything to compare it to of course, but since I consume approximately 680 to 750 calories a day they must be doing something to help! I only feel hungry when I should...like at mealtime or 4 to 5 hours after I have eaten last.
I havent noticed any side effects at all and the Nurse Practitioner said they are safe to take "forever", not that I am planning to! I do however, take my last one at 3:30 so I can sleep at night. |

My belief is yes, it's possible, but I defer to the folks here who have been at it longer than I have :-) So far I have lost 10.5 lbs in 2 weeks. I also walk 30m x 3 days a week. |

I have had no problems with the fat burner and feeling funny. I upped the rx yesterday per MWL as i had been feeling hungry the last 2 days. Going to try 2 in am and 1 in pm first. I will let you know.
Hopefully now I am home it will be easier than lst week! |

thanks for the help!
It's nice to have somewhere to vent and ask questions. Its been a rough day. I'm just so tired. I could sleep for days. I'm not hungry just have no energy and had to get up @ 545 for my sons football game today. The worst part for me is the water. I hate the taste so I'm force feeding it and 96oz a day YUCK! I'm hoping I get used to it. The caffine headaches are very mild so that's better then expected. I just wish I had some energy.

Losing, have you tried a Brita filter? I love the way it changes the taste of tap water and yes, I can tell when I need a new filter so its definitely a change. I don't use it for the "purification" since I don't really know how well that aspect works. I just know I like the taste much better than straight tap and even better than most bottled water I have tried. Hang in there!

That's a good idea I'll have to try it. Does anyone know how many calories you are allotted in week two?

LIN- for me at least, protein calories stayed the same week 2 (I'm at 6-700). The only difference is that you're allowed 2 veggie servings (or one veggie one fruit serving) and a healthy fat. These don't count for your calories, so you are adding in a few extra.

That's sounds good. My MWL clinic said if I needed more calories from meat I could add even in week one. I haven't needed any but I know 500 calories isnt sustainable for very long.

I was alloted 500-600 protein calories plus the fruit and/or veggie. Also given some freebies like pickles, but told not to abuse it, only 3x a week maybe...

It doesn't seem as if there are too many diferences between week 1 and week 2except the veggies. I love veggies so I am super excited to get them back. I guess we are in the acute phase of weightloss until we reach our goal. I have over 100lbs to lose so that will be a while for me.. I started gaining weight after my fourth child because I started on an antidepressant. My mom passed away when I was Y months pregnant and between that and post partum depression I was started on Paxil. The evil drug of doom. After gaining 90lbs the doctor agreed to switch me to Celexa and dthe weight gain stopped until January which I gained like another 20lbs because my thyroid stopped functioning all together my THE was 268 it should be between 1 and 2. So now my thyroid is back in line thanks to synthroid so I am hoping this is gonna work. My mom died at 56 of heart disease due to obesity and I dont want that to be me. It terrifies me!

I weigh in thursday and im nervous and excited. I'm afraid I will be disappointed with the results and quit like i have done many other diets. I would be satisfied with even a couple lbs at this point.
