Stacy - drink L-O-T-S of water!! It will fill you up and sometimes though you think you are hungry, what you really are is thirsty! You don't have to do their shakes and bars....you can do real foods and count calories. (scrambled eggs, bacon, hamburger patty, chicken breast etc. )

Just wanted to stop in to post a quick note. I'm just rejoined Medi June 25, 2014. I first joined May 2013, lost about 50 pounds then stalled because I just wasn't following the plan perfectly, gained back 10 pounds and now ready to start on my second 50 pounds to get to my goal. Love reading these forums to give me motivation.

Newbie!

I have made my official appointment for Tuesday July 8, 2014!

I have been looking into MWL for months and kept saying I couldn't afford it.
Well, I am just gonna suck it up and pay. I am hoping this is my final and last attempt. I need strict guidelines. I have horrible self control.

I love reading all your advice and updates!

I will update my for my first visit soon!

New

Hi everyone! Thank you for all of your helpful posts! I was able to begin today based on all of the info. You have provided. I am not going to the Medi clinic, but will instead do it on my own with the info and support here. I was able to lose 20 last year doing high fat low carb but I decided to try Medi this time.

I have 35 to lose. I am currently 185 and need to be 150. I plan to participate here regularly, so need to figure out how to post my stats, etc.

Today is only day 1, so not much to report. I am wondering whether I should look into some appetite suppressant. I also do not have any vitamins, and I know I need to get something because 500 calories isn't much nutrition!

Anyway, looking forward to participating here.

I'm restarting. I reached my goal over a year ago and have slowly gained it all back. I am so mad at myself for not keeping on with the wellness phase.

Last time it took me 5 months to reach my goal from 190 to 150. I know I can do it again.

Anyway, I'm back to Week 1.

I kept saying the same thing I sucked it up also. I need structure and I need to be held accountable by weighing each week and need the supports. I am so glad I made the decision to join.

yes use sugar substitute. try something new because it will get boring quick. remember you may have to eat the same meats for the rest of the week. But you can do what you feel is comfortable.

Frustrated!

Hi all, my name is Anne and I am 5'1 at 143 and I am on day 3 and I was in ketosis as of last night (night of day 2), I have been taking my medications and drinking my water, but I had a fight with my parents and broke down a had 3/4 of a sugar cookie and am now sorta hating myself. I tested myself for ketones and was still in moderate high and had the cookie 3-4 hours ago, so wondering how long it will take to kill my ketosis.

I feel really bad about that dumb cookie. I have 30 pounds to lose to be at my perfect weight of 112 and I do want to get there. It's just so hard and I feel worse in ketosis, more cravings and headachy and SO sweaty. I guess it's hard to blame that on ketosis when it might just be par for the course on the plan, but still it's odd. I was told after 24 hours in ketosis your appetite would be killed, mine seemed to become more ravenous for sweets! I am on the AS, but the previous 2 days it worked so well and now its not doing so hot. Just frustrated that I broke down and cheated on week one. I was really hoping to lose 6+ pounds week one to get a jump start.

For those with just 20-30 pounds to lose, how did your weigh-ins go? And for those who had a little slip like me, how far back has it set you historically? Thanks, I am frustrated and tired and it's only day 3.

They don't tell you this but it can take up to two weeks to really feel good and fully adjusted to this new way of fueling your body. You may feel bad for a few days more, but have faith that it does get better. Stick to the plan, and give it time.

My advice is to not waste time feeling bad about the cookie, but to use your energy instead to figure out ways to help yourself deal with those same feelings and frustrations in a healthier fashion. That way, next time you face some kind of emotional stress you can have a plan in place, whether it's deep breathing, positive self-talk (I can get through this; I know these feelings are temporary; however much my parents irritate me I don't have to resort to food; I can find a solution to whatever it is), or even just walking away. Rehearse it in your mind--this is what I do when I get upset. I used to go for the cookie, too, but I'm training myself to make better choices consistently.

I've been reflecting on some of these issues on my blog, middleagedskinny. You can see there how my weight loss is going. Also, try not to fixate on the lbs and how fast they're coming off. If you stick to the plan, they will for sure, but at the rate your body decides.

Hi Good morning!
I am totally new to the board although I have been coming here for years for support, recipes, everything related to Medi really. I am finally restarting. I lost all my weight and kept it off for years. However, in January, with major stress and discovering I have a thryroid issue, I started gaining back like 18 pounds. I LOVE to exercise and didn't have any issues with that. But for me, it was the support and accountability that I think is what I really need. I would love to be a part of this support group. Thanks for all the great post!

I just started back yesterday and am on day 2. Wow, yesterday was tough! But doing a pantry/refrigerator detox really helped!

Question here: since I've re started, there have been a couple changes and was wondering if you all are also incorporating these changes:
1. this time around, I was told that fluid calories like 1/2 and 1/2 or unsweetened almond milk do not count toward any calories. (not like I use a lot
of any of this, but thought it was interesting that it doesn't count)
2. I was told I could use the Dannon Fit (lovely flavors)-greek yogurt during my 1st week. I discussed that it has like 9 carbs but my counselor said
that was fine and it's totally fine to use.

Day One

Thought I would stop in and introduce myself. I have been considering Medi for quite some time now. I had a friend in TX that used the program and did great! I've tried many programs and tried on my own, I know I know what to eat and what not to eat, but don't make great choices. I need to lose 50 - 60 lbs and after this last year of watching my weight just creep higher and higher I talked to my husband and told him I really felt like I need to start a more structured program and one where I had to go look at someone face to face about my week. I had my initial consult yesterday and started today, 1st day is almost over and I have done ok, actually feel pretty good.

I do have one question about the injections, the clinic I go to recommended a mid week injection in the beginning. Do any of you get a mid week injection? Does it help?

Hope everyone is having a great week!
Kathy

Hey KRene! I got my injections and weighed in on Wed. I really like the mid week injections and weigh-ins b/c I felt like it gave me that extra push I needed to get through the week. I only did one injection until I finished my journal and got the free shots. They BUUUUURN!!

Doing it alone

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have recently restarted Medi but am doing it without going to the center. I have lost 40 pounds in the last 5 months on my own. My weight has stalled and I am hoping that this will help jump start things for me and help get me back on the right path. I have strayed away from things a bit and need to pull myself back. I have a metabolic disorder and carbs are my enemy. I am doing it alone because I can not financially afford to go to the center because I am a full time grad school student and no longer working. I have been a member here for quite a while and am blessed to be able to utilize my resources once again. This has been day #2 for me and I am ready for my internal transformation!

I can not wait to get to know all of you!!

Me too

Hi Soready,

Congratulations on going it alone and losing 40 lbs. So inspiring!!! I just started going it alone yesterday, today is day 2.

You should come over to the Medi Friends in 2014 thread. Much more acticity over there, and given you are welll on your way......

I didn't experience a plateau when I first lost the weight on Medi, so not sure how to help. Other than I hear many people say, just keep up with it and the pounds will start coming back off.

How long has it been since you lost weight?

Post over in the other thread and I'll be looking out for you.
