Starving

Hi all I started Medi weight loss on Wednesday. I am incredibly hungry. I wake up in the middle of the night because I'm hungry and because my stomach is growling. I'm a very determined person so I don't give up. I just want to know does it get better? The headaches horrible. The weakness is excruciating. I have five kids at home and it requires a lot of energy. But now that I've started the program I am committed not to give up? I've seen many people comment and say that they never feel hungry but I'm constantly hungry. Is it me, am i from another planet?

1st day!

I just completed my first day, and its been rough. (my spirits are still up though!) I'm not a breakfast eater so I'm not really sure what I should do for breakfast. Are there any suggestion? I just ordered the shakes but got a few days before those come in. What got you guys through your first week?

Week 1

Hello everyone
I am in day 4 week one. I was doing great until today. After realizing I'm still not in ketosis & I'm doing everything right. This isn't hard but it's not easy for me either. You see, I just had a baby 1 1/2 months ago so I am STILL experiencing pregnancy cravings. (Booooo) I was curious about pork skins. I read that they have 0 carbs and only few calories. Is this an except able snack? Also, has anyone else been on day 4 & not hit ketosis? I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I'm sticking to the plan..

Ps
I've never used one if these groups so I don't even know how to get my replies. Lol .. Is there an app for this forum?

Some things seem to vary per clinic so you could always call yours and ask, but mine did allow pork skins in the first week. Most are 0 carbs but i dont think they're exactly low calorie, so just make sure they fit in your calorie limits. And check the labels, some of the flavored ones do have a few carbs per serving.

Hello! I'm on week one day 6. I was in ketosis yesterday, but as of this morning I am not anymore. I'm doing everything right! I don't understand. Ugh!! Also, I'm dying for a cup if coffee but I CANT drink it black. What can I use in my coffee. I've always used a creamer. Is there a substitute for creamer?

Day 2 week 1 for me. I feel good so far, not a cranky ***** yet. lol I am having coffee though. my dr. said i could use the sugar free creamers. So i only use one serving, and that is enough to get my coffee fix in.

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lindsay. I lost 45lbs several years ago while going to a Medi weight loss clinic. I still had more to lose, but stopped going because I got pregnant with my third child. So I am back and have even more weight to lose. But I have not moved to state the doesn't have a clinic so I am doing it on my own. I am on day 4 of week 1 and I am already in ketosis.

Hi Lins - I remember you!! I am in a predicament of having gained from the sinus infection stuff and finishing up grad school about 2 years ago. And I have held onto this weight for over 1 1/2 years. I want to get it off but I am now teaching nursing full time and practically have no time to exercise! I haven't even been online here for over a month due to feeling so far away from being able to do this....but something made me check in today and I know that we can DO this together again!! Congrats on already being in ketosis. What are you eating for bkfst? That is my hardest meal to get motivated for.....I do not like eggs anymore in the am! I bet you miss Florida. Now living in MO?

I remember you too Lins, and like you have gained back a significant amount of my weight back. I found you can order the supplements online. I am on day 5 of MWL (I decided to go to the clinic). It is getting easier! I am on day 5 but still only showing trace ketosis, but keeping to the 5-800 calories limit. I figure that the all the WATER I am drinking is keeping the ketones dispersed...at least I hope so!

Miss A, I would not worry too much about showing "ketosis". When I did this last time I rarely showed ketosis, so since I am finding the same thing happening again I am not worrying too much about it.
As for coffee creamer, my clinic said 1 TBS light or heavy cream (total for the day- so an additional 45 calories) would be okay throughout the day for all of my coffee. But other than that they have banned all dairy.

The reason for my weight gain was a gradual falling back into my old ways of staying up late, having a glass of wine and eating peanut butter at 11pm! It didn't happen overnight....That is just for the skeptics that say this isn't a way of life. It is when you complete the course, and stick to your new healthy habits...which I did not. I could literally eat half a jar of all natural peanut butter at night telling myself it was a good choice since there were no added sugars. I think the key to this is I have to be vigilant ALWAYS. Of course after I lose the weight I can have treats, just not EVERY NIGHT for 1 year!!!

Hi there..I wanted to introduce myself. I am a long-time member of the weight loss roller coaster club...and I am currently doing Medi to get myself back on track. I am so thankful to have a community (even if it's virtual...hehehe) to use as inspiration to sustain my weight loss.

I am re-booting today, Week one, day one with suppressants. Here we go!

Support Needed

Hey to you all! and to some of you that I remember from the past

I have been away from the program for 2 years. I had a head injury causing me to not keep up with my own Medi way. Needless to say I'm ready now to start again and I hope to join you all and get and give support. We all have a story to tell! On Day 1 and doing fine so far. I will not be starting an exercise routine yet. I will be going one day at a time.

Much Thanks

Hi Marverboston - I remember you from 2 years ago. Wow....sorry to hear about your head injury! Are you okay? I'm working on restarting again....Had lost 9 lbs in a little over 2 wks and then went to a 2 day conference this past week, just up about a lb but needing to do the week one thing again! I will not be exercising just yet either...not time with new work schedule....but I have enjoyed exercising in the past. Will be great when I can try to at least bike outside again. Looking forward to Spring!!

Hello Back!

Hi Debbie,

I'm glad to hear you are restarting. It has been a tough couple of years. I really lost my way after I had my concussion and head trauma. I was not given clearance by my Dr's to even drive for up to 8 months and with that being home I ate way more than I needed. Now, I know this program works and I have all my clothes to prove it. I will be going at it with my all, and plan to have much success!!

Are you going back to the clinic? I have decided not to myself. I have all the tools and know what has to be done. Being back on this board for support will truly be so helpful.

Cathy

PS: I did start a thread called What are you eating. If you wanted to post some of your menus that would be wonderful!
Thanks Debbie

Hey Cathy,

I went to the clinic and paid big bucks for over a year and was successful. Then had my terrible medical issues with repeated sinus infections (pseudomonas and staph) and had mega powerful antibiotics for over 2 years, 2 sinus surgeries, and regained. Dang!! I checked in there several months ago and would have to pay restart all over, so I am not going to do that. Like you, I have the tools. The accountability here will be awesome!!

I am a nursing instructor and just lectured yesterday about traumatic brain injury. I am sorry it was such a long ordeal for you, but I am praying you have everything back!!

Mostly my schedule is crazy. I may not post much on your What are you eating thread, but I might peek at it!

Off to be crazy busy for work!! Make good choices!!

Medicine Question

Hi everyone. I am new to the website and love it and everyone is so helpful. I have a question regarding meds. Are there certain medications that can hinder weight loss?

New to site-starting 3rd week

Hi everyone.
Just found this site and thought I would see how everyone else is doing. On May 2, 2014, I started this journey along with my husband. It was our 27 year anniversary so we thought we would give each other a healthy start to many more to come. We have been trying for awhile to lose the weight but couldn't find the right plan. I think we are both ready to do this because it hasn't been that hard. He lost 12 the first week and 3 the 2nd. I have lost 8.5 the first and today I weighed in with another 4 lb. loss for the second week. I am so excited and have already noticed that my clothes are fitting different and my energy level is increasing. The biggest thing I have noticed is that when I play the kids and get on the floor, I don't feel my stomach as much as I use to and it is much easier to get up and down. I have a daycare business out of my home so I am on the go between 10 and 12 hours a day.
I really love this plan. The food is everyday food only now I know how much to have. I use to think I couldn't live without certain things but now I know that I can. I'm finding that I crave things more than being hungry and now tell myself that I'm not hungry just wanting it-whatever that may be. I also found that I ate to make myself feel better. Now, I just look at why I want to eat. I always plan in an Adkins Protein bar for my dessert. I love the chocolate crisp bar...that is my candy from now on. and it works. I am hoping to come here and keep myself motivated. I have a long way to go about 50 more pounds maybe 60.

Hello ladies,

This is another go around for me as well. This time I am doing it without going to the center. My doctor approached me about going on Qsymia so I am using that. Since a lot of us are starting over and without the help of the center, hopefully, we can help each other out. I have been on Qsymia for 4 days and will "officially" restart Medi on tomorrow. Fit2010, I remember you from when I was here 2 years ago (my name was Butterflytrg then) and I admired your journey sooooo much!! Hopefully we can all have a successful journey together!

Debbie,
I also am not paying to restart at the clinic. I did it once and because I was a return client, I really did not receive the same amount of assistance as I did the first time around. I heard a lot of "well you remember this, etc."

Looking forward to supporting each other here on the board!

soready (formerly butterflytrg) and fit2b55....hello!!! It was so sweet to hear from you!

I am so glad to see you here!! I haven't checked in here for a couple of weeks due to getting busy with the end of the Spring semester, and now planning to teach for a Summer rotation. I have an appt with my former MWL doc, now 1 1/2 hours away at a nonMWL clinic...appt at the end of June but now with YOU two as support, I know I can be 15 lbs lighter by then!! I need to be! In the past couple of months I have been symptomatic with iron-deficiency anemia and with researching, found that my previous chronic psuedomonas sinus infections may have been a part of what started the iron-deficiency anemia....plus I take EC Aspirin and stress made me develop gastritis! So, being back at this BIG weight all over again just adds to making me feel miserable physically! I cannot believe that I let my hips and legs get this chunky again! I am looking at a change in diet so that it is high in iron as well as MWL friendly, but not processed foods.

Let's do this!

I am in the middle of my second week with Medi. My dad and I are doing it together. I lost 9.6 lbs the first week but had a horrible start to my second! I never realized how much sugar was in the food I ate until Medi. I was not an over eater but consuming too much sugar! This is exactly what I am having trouble with this week, my cravings! Unfortunately, when I try and eat the Medi bars or shakes they have such sweet favors I just want more and I know I have not lost a pound this week, I have until Tuesday and am trying to refocus, didn't need the diet pills the first week but started them yesterday because I was going backwards fast! I would appreciate any advice from others having this problem! Would also love to her from anyone in the North Texas area, I am north of Dallas. Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you all!
