Basically the more information ya'll can give me the better!! I am 100lbs over weight and my quality of life is terrible and i am so close to signing up with Medi weightloss but need to know that the money spent is justified.

Thanks so much for your help
Well, I just joined last week after thinking about it off and on for months. I really wish I had done it sooner. I have always felt like the key for me was having EARLY SUCCESS to keep me motivated. I have really worked hard over the last few years to lose weight but I just can't seem to get there. This first week has been some effort for me, but today is day 5 and I am down 7 pounds! It makes a huge difference to see your results so quickly.

Whatever strategy you choose, I wish you the best!

Well. I finished week one and was down 10 lbs...wow, I was thrilled. I am happy to add veggies in this week and try some exercise. I just can't get motivated to exercise although I know I need to for so many reasons.

Hi there

Just found your forum doing a search. So I'll Google this but what is Medi?

I was starting Atkins to take off just 10 lbs or so, but it's so many calories. I remember a time I lost weight and kept it off for over 3 years easily and I know I was in ketosis and had about 800 calories-ish daily. I was wondering if that's okay and you can do that without muscle/hair loss, if I eat enough fats in those 800 calories. In Googling my question, I found this forum. Atkins doesn't discuss calories much, just carbs. I feel so pudgy after the first day of eating all that fat and 1600 calories or more... Can anyone give me the short version? Again, I'll look it up.

Thanks so much. I saw the photo of the woman from St. P in FL! Congrats on your amazing success.

Hello to each of you and keep it going!

Kindly

K

With Medi calories vary per person, but its usually 500-800 calories of protein a day. No carbs til the 2nd week, then you add in 2 servings of veg or 1 veg 1 fruit serving a day off of an approved list, and a healthy fat in the 100 calorie range. Its low calorie, low fat high protein.

Chris I so know what you mean about the excercise. I lost 10.6 pounds week 1. I weigh in again on Tuesday and I just can't wait to get this weight off. I've been working out but very very light I just don't have the energy to do more but I want to. I did Medi back in 2009/2010 and it worked so I like everyone else I want this done once and for all.

reinvented..In my head I know I need to exercise and I feel great when I do, I just always have so many things to juggle that exercise is last on my list. I feel like I am always living life on one speed...fast... and don't know how to slow down for myself!!! It's usually 8pm before my day winds down and I am to wiped to exercise!! Need real motivation to realign my priorities...but my 3 kids' activities seem to dictate my schedule!!! Ahhhh...

New (again) but on my own

Hello everyone! I did this program a few years ago but did not stick through maintenance. I am doing again on my own for financial reasons. I never used this board before, either, so hoping for support during the hard times!

Welcome Carolina-

Congratulations on taking a step towards better health! If you are not going to the clinic, make sure you are taking equivalent supplements...such as calcium, omega & daily vitamin. It is a big financial commitment and although I don't really have the $, I am trying to cut back in other places. I have a short term goal weight til maintenance then I will go back again after some time away practicing!! Best of luck. Come on over to the main 2013 thread!

Newbie

I'm on day 2 and doing ok. There was no one available to do my blood work so I have to do that at my next appointment. I am not on the AS, at least not yet. I'm reading so many posts about people gaining the weight back and restarting the program it's making me nervous!

My only issue so far is I'm not a big eggs person so I've had egg beaters and egg whites for breakfast last two days and not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow. Maybe just some deli ham or make deviled eggs? Things have been a little easier first two days because I'm off from work - have to make sure I'm prepared when I go back tomorrow.

Welcome Poochie- As with any weightloss program, you need to commit to a lifestyle change and not go back to old habits. I think that is why many have restarted after a short maintaining the weightloss for a period of time. I kept mine off for over a year and then had some big changes in my life that sidetracked me and interfered with my ability to stay focused. Carbs are a hard thing to eat around unless you are really focused. It is easy to get off track. I do know my body feels best on a low carb lifestyle and hope this will be my last restart!!! Welcome and we look forward to your posts.

another new kid

Hi everyone. I've been poking around in the background for a couple of weeks, and finally decided to just stop it and participate. I went for my first appointment on Thursday, so I'm on day 3 of the program. Things have been going okay so far. Been fighting headaches and slight hunger, but nothing more than I what I guess I really expected.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and hit a sale on Powerade Zero at Dillon's (Kroger). 32-oz bottles at 10 for $10 and then get 5 more free. So I kinda stocked up...a lot. The girls at the checkout thought I was crazy with my 45 bottles.

My dilemma today is what to make for breakfast for the week. I don't usually have time in the mornings to even scramble eggs, so I 'd like to make something today that I can grab and go all week. I can heat it up later, just not cook first thing in the AM unless I absolutely have to. Suggestions??

I live on the lite Greek yogurt. And cottage cheese. I find protein shakes with Pb 2 work but week one. Those are out. Sorry. I ended up with cheese sticks as fillers. I like you am always in a hurry. You will be amazed after the first few week's. It hers easy. In fact most days I have a hard time meeting my caloric. Intake. After 90 days I am down 36.5 pounds. 40 more to goal my plan is to be there be July 1!

New to Medi Weightloss

Started 13 days ago, and surprisingly lost 5 lbs (1lb fat and 4 lb water). The physician said she didn't think I would lose as much due to my age, said those in their 40's tend to lose 3-5 lbs the first week. I think it was due to swelling that I had in my legs which is much less.

From those in their 40's how much have you lost and how fast?
(I did lose on Jenny Craig but 35 lbs in 3.5 years, didn't want to wait that long this time)

Time to lose the weight again! Questions..

Hi everyone!! I have been doing medi on and off since 2010. I lost almost 40lbs and kept it off for 2 years! I then met my now lovely fiancée who is super Italian and loves to cook, which wasn't so great for my waist I fell off the wagon and have gained about 30lbs in the past year!!

With a wedding in a year and low self confidence I've decided to get my body back. I do however have a few questions:

Is coconut milk allowed? The one I use has 2 grams of carbs per 8fl oz.. Or coconut oil?

When working out do I eat the amount of calories in protein that I burned? For example.. If I burned 300 cals would I then eat 700 calories of protein? Two people have said different things at the clinic.

Any suggestions for natural appetite suppressants if I won't be taking the prescription meds?

Thank you!!!! Today is day 1!!!

-Lauren

Hi Lauren!

My clinic says to add 100 calories for every 30 minutes you work out. I know each clinic has different guidelines, but that is what is working for me

Hi, Lauren! You are going to do so well in plenty of time before your wedding.

My clinic does not recommend replacing the calories burned through exercise, but they do say to eat 100 protein calories and 1/2 serving of fruit 20-30 minutes before cardio exercise and 100 protein calories after strength-training exercise. These calories do not count toward your daily protein calorie intake.

I've used light coconut milk in a couple of recipes I've gotten on the Medi site, so it's definitely okay. In cooking, I almost always use coconut oil. I treat it like all other fats and use it in moderation.

Good luck to you! Keep us updated on your progress on the Medi Friends in 2013 thread if you have time.
