No problem, I have been doing them at the gym and they seem to work real well.

Day 1...kinda rough

I just started my Week 1, Day 1. I developed a headache around dinnertime that hasn't gone away. I have always gotten headaches when I don't eat on time, or I don't eat enough. I know I will need to get through this first week though. I have been drinking so much water to try to help, and have spread my meals out through the day...I am definitely feeling hungry, even with the AS.

I am sure there is an answer somewhere for this, but can we really eat as many pickles as we want since they say 0 calories? How is that possible? Also, is Sugar-Free Jell-o okay for Week 1?

-Dorothy

PS: How do you set a signature? I looked in the FAQ which said you can do this by Editing your Profile, which I did, but didn't see a signature option. Sorry. I'm a noob. Oh wait. Your little profile comes up on the left. I get it!

New!

I started day one yesterday. I did fine until 3 pm when I had a 3pm protein shake. Did not satisfy me at all; Ate fish for dinner, but I wasn't satisfied for long. I spent the whole night running to the bathroom. I tried not to drink water after 6 pm, thinking that would resolve the problem.

I was hungry all night long starting at 2 am. I'm getting ready to take an AS, then eat.

I know it will bet better; I had the same problem when I tried Atkins for a month.

I'm happy to be doing something significant about my weight, rather than doing things halfway. I like my clinic, and I know I'm going to do well...I just feel it in my bones!

I've never reached a halfway mark on any diet I've ever been on. I'm going to have faith that Medi gets me there -- even being post-menopausal and hypothyroid.

Plan on starting this on Thursday. Need to do a grocery store run before I can fully start this (too much bad stuff and not enough good stuff in my house). I am really worried about my husband's inadvertent sabotage of my diet. He eats a lot of fast food and guilts me into eating with him. Even when I don't want to eat (am not hungry) he won't eat unless I eat too. Has anyone had to deal with a spouse/family member who has good intentions (I hope) but their intentions just pack pounds on you? I need to find a way to deal with this and be successful. I cannot keep this weight on me.

My fiancé didn't like the idea of the program at first. He felt that I was starving myself and we would literally fight about it. He eats a lot of fast food and carbs. In fact I didn't gain the weight until we met over 4 years ago because I starting eating like him. Now that he has noticed how much happier I am with my results (almost 30 lbs in 8 weeks!), he has slowly come around and is 100% supportive of it.

In my opinion the key to it is making sure e doesn't feel deprived of what he likes to eat. When I cook dinner I make a healthy protein and vegetable for myself, I'll make sure to have some potatoes or rice for him to eat with it. We eat out at least 1x a week and you just need to make good choices when looking at the menu. Fast food isn't a great option but I've definitely had it a few times with him...I just eat a burger with cheese (no bun!) and a small side salad.

It might be a challenge for human first to see you change all of your habits, but he will come around and begin to catch on to what you can and cannot eat....especially when he sees how great you'll start looking when the weight starts coming off. Just stay strong and push through it. Eventually you won't even consider eating some of that stuff

Considering medi weight loss

Hi All,
I am seriously considering joining the medi weightloss system but really want more information from current members. What is so differant about this program that you feel it is effective? What does the program include, do you feel the supplements actually work and what type of supplements to they provide, injections, etc....
Basically the more information ya'll can give me the better!! I am 100lbs over weight and my quality of life is terrible and i am so close to signing up with Medi weightloss but need to know that the money spent is justified.

Thanks so much for your help

Well, after sucess with Medi eighteen months ago...and then regaining all of the weight I lost, here I am again. While I have no trouble losing the weight, I am incapable of keeping it off. Darn it! It simply has to be different this time, I'm getting to be too old to carry this extra weight, not good for the health, ya know! Any ideas for becoming a "lifer"?

This is my first week on MWL. The first three days were really rough it seems I had all the symptoms. Headaches, cramping, heartburn, constipation, you name it. It is day 4 and I woke up feeling great heading to my 2nd B12 shot later today. The biggest hurdle was planning meals and making myself eat when the AS made me not want to eat a thing. That is a big change from before MWL where I could never get full. I have not weighed myself at all but I do see that I am no longer bloated and my clothes already fit better. I have decided to only weigh in at my appointments. I truly feel like this is going to work because i have tried all the other diets and nothing lasts long. I have lost and gained back so much weight over the years and I simply got fed up. Good luck to all of you out there who have decided to change their lives...we are all in this together and i am ready for a change.

Hi, I am currently on day 5 of week 1. I am really struggling to eat- even without the appetite suppressors. And I am fighting some horrible nausea. On day 3 I woke up and vomited for nearly an hour. I am seriously considering giving up. Any ideas for recipes or helpful hints to get all my calories in? ( I don't think I made it last night)
Oh, and I am a full time student and my clinic is out of town so I can't go in for weekly visits. I have called and they have advised me to stop all vitamins and we will add them back one by one to try and see what is making me so sick. I truly can't eat in the mornings due to the nausea.

I am not sure about the vomiting and nausea; but I do know the first week is the hardest. Maybe if you stop all of the supplements and pills, you will be less nauseated. You be hungry due to not taking the AS. As far as recipe, check out the MWL website, but be sure to use Acute Phase recipes only; the recipes are limited for Week 1 because of how strict it is (i.e., no veggies). Hope you feel better.

I know that on Day 3 or 4 of Week 1 I was so so sick. Worst headache ever! The next day and from there on out I was fine.

Hi! I'm on day 1 of week 5 of the Medi program and a newbie to the board. Just wanted to introduce myself. At my week 4 weigh-in yesterday, I'd lost 12.8 lbs. so far. I'm really happy with that and can't wait to keep going! Looking forward to seeing everyone reach their goals.

Hello Everyone!!!
My name is Shelby, and I just started Medi last Thursday! I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have just graduated college, so I felt like this was the perfect time in my life to make a change. I have done well so far even with Christmas food all around me lol I hope to see some good progress on my first weigh in.

Hi Shelby, I will start Medi 1/3/13, although I am so ready to start now...I just have a New Year's Day Polar Plunge that entails some drinking in order to get in the freezing ocean!

Good luck and keep us posted. When I start, I am thinking of starting a new thread for all newbies or re-commiters.

Hello!

Congratulations on a great month! 4 inches is a lot and you must feel it in your clothing!

I just restarted the program today! I stopped the program in May of 2009 and kept off the 40lbs I lost for more than a year. Then, I moved, job got stressful and gradually fell back to my old habits. Today I weighed in 1lb more than my original start date in July 2009. ALthough I am disappointed, I know why I am starting again and am optimistic I will find my way back to a manageable weight again. My friends and family think I am crazy for participating in such an extreme weight loss approach, but it worked before and I liked it. I am glad to meet up with others experiencing the same journey. Looking forward to a new year!

Hello Beaching! I would be thrilled if you started a new post, I just spent a while trying to find a Newbies after my disappointment with the Newbies thread being closed! I just started back today after losing 40 lbs in 2009. I got back to my old habits after a year or so and have slowly but knowingly gained it back. My wake up call was realizing my back to school clothes did not fit and, now even my winter clothing which is bulkier doesn't look or feel right. I refuse to go buy more. I look forward to following your progress and that of others.

I will be re-doing MWL also. It is the One the Works for me!! What didn't work for me was repeated infections, etc that made me take mega toxic antibiotics after I'd reached goal in 2010 and caused joint pain that eventually (while finishing grad school a year ago) "caused" me to put myself and my maintenance on the back burner and I regained.

You are all a smart group of Newbies and restarters. I want to encourage you, you CAN do this. Me too!! Infections are over, tendonitis is over, grad school finished....it's time to focus on healthy living and maintaining. Let's do this!!
