I just registered to this site, I have not yet made an appointment for a consultation the money is worrying me too much but after reading all 16 pages of posts I'm getting closer to making the appointment. I've been flipping back and forth between Medi and HCL shots not sure which one is for me but I have to say the results I'm reading on Medi sound amazing.

Consider this, too, in regards to your decision: How many times a week do you eat out? What does that cost? How much do you spend on snacks? I have noticed that my shopping bill has gone down, we don't eat out much at all, so it seems to have evened out from a money perspective. Plus, isn't it worth the money to feel better, look better, and be healthy? For me (and my wife, who is doing it with me), it was a no brainer.

I agree with JD! Although I'm on day 6 of week #1, I didn't come close to spending what I had on groceries. I've lost 7+ already and officially weigh in on Tuesday. You're worth the $, the commitment, and the new life style. Best of luck, Peaches!

Hi everyone! I am new here and would like to introduce myself. I am on day 3 of the program and I'm feeling pretty good. Yesterday was a tough day as I felt like I didn't have the energy to blink and had a headache most of the afternoon, but today I felt much better. This is my first time doing medical weight loss and I am loving it so far. I like things very structured and organized so this totally fits the bill for me. I have done Weight Watchers before and succeeded, but I don't feel like I ever learned anything because I was just manipulating what I ate to meet the points - like I would eat 6 Oreos and a bag of chips for the day and still come in under points. And every time I stopped going to meetings I put the weight right back on. I am learning so much about carbs and realizing I am a sugar addict, but not necessarily because I love carbs, more like I just eat junk without realizing how empty the calories are. It seems like eating the low carb way still allows you to eat like a normal person, just more mindful and avoiding unnecessary carbs. The weird things is I'm only craving two things right now - a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing, and a huge bowl of broccoli with ranch dressing. Weird combination!!!

I did have a question though, the KetoStix my clinic gave me didn't come with any instructions and I can't remember what my counselor said. My stick was a dark pink color - what does that mean? I have been so encouraged by all of you so far just by reading these posts, and I look forward being a part of this community. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Averiesmama! As far as the Ketostix go, my clinic told me small, moderate and large are all fine to be in. They said its not good to be the darkest purple because that means your dehydrated. Day 4 was the tough one for me in my first week, but every day after that got better. Good luck on the rest of your first week!

The money had me worried at first too. But I agree with everyone else, you really do save in groceries and for me personally I'm saving because we don't eat out very often anymore. It seems to balance out in the end.

Welcome to all the new folks! You ll love this program. I had a rather disappointing week 3 weigh in..only lost .4 I know why though... I attended a beer festival over the weekend and while I discussed it before hand with my counselor I know that was the culprit. It was fun and I had a great time..but after eating 500 calories a day the beer hit me hard and I spent the weekend recouping. Lesson learned. I'm back on plan..back to a quick start for 3 days...no veggies or fruit..just protein...lots of water to flush my system. Grrr... I only have 2 more weigh ins before I'm off to Thailand for 10 days and I really wanted to hit a 20 lb loss!!

Herewego, at least you had a good time and got right back on plan. Thailand, that sounds amazing! Here's to hoping for a great week 4 & 5 weigh in for you so you can hit your 20lb goal!

We all go through these culprits at one time or another. The important part is that you got right back on the plan. I have an Oyster Roast I'm attending this weekend. All the oysters you can eat, beer and alcohol you can drink. Not looking for a loss next week. But at least i'll know why....

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you're fine with the ketosis. Just stick to the plan and you'll do fine.

Thx for the support nurseing & Jessica !! I guess even while we are committed to this plan we still have to enjoy life and realize that we can't be perfect all the time. So looking forward to Thailand but not the challenges it will bring to this program. I'm hoping I'll walk so much when I do slip up I can balance it out!!

Today is day #1 of week #2. I lost just under 6 lbs. My reflex was to be disappointed, but truth is, it's a beginning and I'm committed and excited. I only wish there was a MWL Clinic closer to where I live. The 1-1/2 hr one-way commute gave me lots of time to consider/plan next steps. Fingers crossed that this week will be as painless as last. :-)

Congrats on the loss! Its a great step in the right direction! Wow that's some commute! But I'd say completely worth it if it gets you where you need to be, and it will. Good luck this week!

HELP! I am on week 3 and I have not lost a pound this week. What am I doing wrong? How many grams of carbs per day should I be on? How many grams of fat? I have been doing 500 of protein and 100 of good carbs. Working out 3-4 times per week and then replacing those calories burned with protein. Tons of water. The only thing I can think of is that my grams of carbs or fat may be too high???? Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.

Hi TipsyCherry! Well, my clinic didn't give me an amount of fat grams to stay under. I even asked, and they said not to focus on that right now. As far as carbs go, I'm allowed 30g a day total or 20 if I count net carbs, but I rarely have that many. I get 500-700 of protein. They also told me not to replace when I work out. I was told to eat closer to the 700 on workout days but no more than that. My 3rd week I believe was a slow one for me, I think I lost just over a lb but had lost a lot of fat and gained water. Also make sure you're getting your healthy fat! I hope that helps some!

Thanks Jessica. Im doing this on my own without the help of the clinic so I am panicking right about now. I keep my carbs around 15-20 grams so that sounds right. When I used to go to the clinic they told me not to replace but a few people on here said they were told to replace after working out. Guess I will just keep on keeping and hopefully my weight loss will pick back up.

It sounds like your doing everything right. My 4th week I lost some of the extra water I'd gained the 3rd week, so keep it up and I'm sure you'll see a change soon.

When I take a 3rd pill, it's around 3:00/3:30. Otherwise, I'd be awake all night! Good luck! :-)

I think any loss is a great loss. Just stick to the plan and you will be fine. They told me at my clinic not to ficus on the pounds lost but the fat loss and water loss. When I have a small actual pound loss Ill have a large water loss or fat loss. Week one is the hardest. You will do great!!

Where do your carbs come from? My clinic has always had me on 600-800 protein (but I know most here do 500). Vegs & fruits are 2 servings of veg or 1 veg & 1 fruit per day; I almost never eat the fruit. Both options are still very low in carbs and calories -- I never come close to 100 calories of veg/fruit.

Most of my carbs come from dairy (which is still protein) or condiments, and I'm always under 20 net carbs. I know you mentioned in another post that your net carbs are low. So I'm just wondering about how you're getting to 100 calories of carbs.

Michelynn- They come from veggies at night, or from my sugar free creamer, cheese, cottages cheese, that's about it. Im mostly all protein, I try to stick to that. When I was going to the clinic I would eat some blueberries or an apple, but this time around Im staying away from the fruit. So I guess Im nowhere near 100 calories of carbs. I really miss the shots and the support. But I cant swing the cost this time around, I do have the Bontril which is really key to sticking to it. I just am having trouble remembering all the in's and out's of the diet.

Thanks so much for the welcome and for answering my questions. Today was my first weigh in and I was down 10.4 lbs!!! I asked about the Keto-Stix and my counselor told me dark means I am dehydrated and need to up the fluids. I got to add vegetables and fruit this week but I forgot to ask a silly question so I'm hoping some of you pros can help me out. When it says "1 cup broccoli" is that 1 cup by weight or by volume? In other words, do I measure it out in a measuring cup or on my scale? It seems like it should be self explanatory but I can't find a definition in my materials and I don't want to mess up all weekend before the clinic opens again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

1 cup is a measure of volume (measuring cup).

Congrats on your first week loss!
