**Merrily Making our Way into a MWL March**

It is marvelous March again. Small hints of Spring can be found if we look for them, and the days are slowly but surely becoming longer and hopefully warmer.

A perfect season to take control of our health and get out in the sunshine and get some great exercise! And it looks like Daylight Savings time begins early this year too!

Here is wishing a magnificent March for all of you! Success is in your hands and in your hearts! Go for it! It is yours!

march already?

I'm very eager to see the progess that I can make during these 31 days of March! What's your goal for the month of March?

To get a job!! Also, like a lot of others (back in the February thread)... I'm so obsessive about food & weighing since I hit maintenance. Each daily weight variance affects my mood... if I have too many calories (or fat, or carbs, or cholesterol, or SODIUM for God's sake) I worry... if I don't reach my 1200 calorie daily goal, I worry about "starvation mode!" Oh, then if I don't get all of my exercise in each day, I also worry. SO, one of my goals is to maintain 120 and below by just doing the right things, and to fret less. Okay, add me to ya'll's prayer lists!

lins 03-01-2011 06:45 AM

My goal is to get back to my lowest Medi-weight (132lbs), and ultimately to see the 120's. We'll see if I can do it all in March!

And my 2011 goal was to run 500 miles, in January I ran 76 miles, and in Feb I ran 54. So far I've run 130 miles in 2011!

Determined Gemini 03-01-2011 06:54 AM

I'm so excited March is here too! Do I have big goals for March! I've mapped out my plan over the weekend, what to eat and my exercise regiment. I'm pushing my limits and want to see what I'm made off!
Of course the challenges/obstacles have already presented itself. Ummm can you say, 'GIRL SCOUT COOKIES'!!! Samoas, Trefoils (shortbread) and Dulce de Leche!

I'm now more than ever focused and determined!

Looking forward to getting out of the 200s by the end of this month

betty_going_85 03-01-2011 08:40 AM

I started the month off very well with a 3.4 weight loss this morning.

My goal for march is to get below 210 so that my total weight loss will be 40 pounds. I want to exercise no less than 4 days a week. Getting in the exercise is a real problem for me because I absolutely HATE it.

GatorEng2007 03-01-2011 09:27 AM

I read 167.8 on my home scale this morning... so ten pounds by the end of the month puts me at 157.8 for month end.

I am not updating my stats with the 167.8 though... because my home scale has been known to lie... I will wait until I officially weigh in at the clinic again a week from today.

If I can hit 157 by the end of month, that puts me 7lbs away from my goal... holy crap. I may be adjusting my goal... The 150 I picked sort of arbitrarily because it was in the middle of the healthy BMI range. The lowest I remember being in high school was around 135 and I looked healthy (looking back at pictures.. I was toned from playing school sports and such so I didn't look unnaturally skinny). Maybe I will adjust my goal to 140 and see where that gets me. Don't want to look too skinny (never thought I'd say that...)

:-)

Today was my first weigh-in. I lost 9.2lbs!!! 2.5 water and 5.7lbs was fat!!! (i dont know what the remaining 1lb was lol) I am excited! and nervous about adding in additional food this week. Also, today, we talked about what my ideal weight would be. I had no idea. I feel like I have been heavy my entire life. The BMI suggested 130, but the doctor said, we will just go by my fat mass and see where it lands me. So she gave a mini-goal of 150 instead. we shall see!
Is it reasonable to try for 15lbs for the month of March since I am just starting out?.. If not, I think just getting into onderland is good enough :)

Betty you might surprise your self with this. I have never exercised as a adult and always thought I hated it. Then I started with Zumba and a core class at my church. I liked the Zumba right off and the core class just about killed me at first. Now I take 3 core classes a week and 3-4 Zumba classes and I love them all!! When I can't take the classes I bike or walk. Good Luck

Hi everyone. I am 5 weeks into weight loss and I have lost 24 lbs. I hope to have 30 lbs off by end of March. Its a good start. This is best lifestyle change I have ever made and I am having fun with it. I hope to do more walking too. Walking with my grandaughter tonight and if not too chilly we will be outside but if not will walk inside at indoor rink. Its 10 laps around for mile and last time we walked 7 laps. strive for 10 tonight.
Good luck everyone. Hugs,Lynn

I have a question. I did a search, but am not finding anything. Anyway, does your clinic set a daily carb limit? Mine said not to worry about carbs, but that doesn't make much sense to me being that too many carbs can kick you out of ketosis. Just wondering what you all have been told or what your opinions are. Thanks!

WichitaLoser 03-01-2011 01:07 PM

VE, congrats on the weight loss!!! 15 pounds doesn't seem to be out of line at all!! Just kick up the workouts and I bet you can do it!

WichitaLoser 03-01-2011 01:11 PM

Being on the road is proving to be a bit difficult. The hotel does not have a microwave or fridge in my room...so I have to be creative. I am the one who has been holding up the lines at McD's when I order a chicken breast without a bun...or, this morning when I ordered 2 pcs of canadian bacon and 1 egg mcmuffin egg without the english muffin. Yeah...hope you enjoyed the lesson in patience I provided you guys :) cuz I sure didn't enjoy the screwed up order I noticed as I was driving away.

VElite 03-01-2011 02:33 PM

WichitaLoser: I am going to be in the same boat next week, I have business travel and not sure what to do. Also, going with several other co-workers, so this should be interesting. How did you count the protein in those items from McDs?

Ronism 03-01-2011 02:52 PM

Love reading everyone's goals for March. And congrats on all the pounds lost already!

My goal is to fit into a black formal I bought years ago, but have never worn, by my birthday and anniversary (in March). I had originally hoped to be at or close to my goal weight by then, but, that's just not possible from here. But I still feel great for turning 48!

Lisa,
I'm SURE what your clinic is telling you is that IF you follow the veggie guidelines of (This is what my center gave me......yours should be the same or at least close I would think) 2 C raw veggies or salad, OR 1 C raw and 1/2 C cooked veggies (or you can substitute an approved fruit for one of the veggies) from the approved "list" you don't have to go to all the extra work of counting up the carbs......it will all "come out in the wash" so to speak! :high5: They're just trying to keep people from getting too obsessed.....PLUS they want you to start learning what a serving of each food looks like. You won't always have a scale and or measuring cups with you "out in the real world".........My center had us practicing on guessing serving sizes. We'd take what we THOUGHT a serving was, then weigh or measure it.......it was surprising to say the least!

Mary T8M 03-01-2011 03:26 PM

My goal is for my DH to get a job :clap::clap: it's been long enough!

THEN as soon as he does, it's BACK to the MWL clinic for both of us! :high5: I'm down about 7 pounds since my last weigh in at the clinic, but I NEED their help in losing the rest of the weight! I want to see what my new BMI is, and what my fat% is.

So much revolves around $$$$ I can't believe it! I need to get the medical check-ups that I've put off because we don't have insurance. I want new "cute" glasses again.....

I'm straddling the line between size 10 and 12.....the 12's are too big, but the 10's are still a little too snug.......I want to be a SOLID 10 in March

Fit2010 03-01-2011 05:23 PM

I'm so glad that the sun was shining today!! Just got back from a 3 mile outdoor bike ride. Love it!!

My goal for March is to get to 140, then I'll be just 3 lbs over goal, again. I also want to start doing some arm exercises here at home, and perhaps swim once a week at the "Y".

My lab from MWL appt last week showed I'm ok, no thyroid issues. Weird huh? Five out of six in my family are on thyroid, I'm glad I'm not but I'm surprised! Good news is that regarding my lab progress from Mediweightloss:
my triglycerides are NOW 63, before (first signed up 9/08 so that lab) 173 (norm 0-149);
my HDL now 61, but in 9/08 was 43 (normal is > 39) This was ON Lipitor too.
my glucose now 87, but in 9/08 was 139 (normal is 65-99)
SGPT (liver enzyme) now 28, but in 9/08 was 57 (normal is 0-40)
Back in 9/08 Mediweightloss diagnosed me with Insulin Resistance/Metabolic Syndrome based on all those abnormalities. I have a family hx of diabetes and I was headed headlong in that direction but MWL doc started me on Metformin and my reg MD follows it up and agrees with it based on another lab taste (Hgb A1C).

I am SO thankful for Mediweightloss. I could NOT lose the weight on my own when I'd tried, and they figured out the problem! The MWL eating plan helped me shed the lbs and feel in control, and when I lost enough that I felt I could exercise I've gone from being a slow walker to a somewhat slow jogger/fast walker! It's the best feeling. I NEVER want to be up in weight again!

So all of you just starting to lose, stay with it! Some weeks you may lose 1 1/2 lbs, some weeks you may lose 1/4 of one lb. But week after week, month after month, you are melting away and revealing a healthier YOU!!

cheftrish 03-01-2011 05:26 PM

Hi everyone! Had my weigh in today and am down 2.8. 1.2 was fat and the rest water. Phew! After last week only losing .8 I was pretty discouraged. I am going to St. Thomas to visit my brother the middle of the month and I really am hoping to be down under 150 by then!! This is not a total vacation. My brother suffers from depression and our mom passed away in Sept. It's more of a checkup to see how he is doing, taking meds etc. but it will be good to see him and get away from the stresses of the past 5 months. I will really have no control on food at his house, he lives on Water Island which is only accessible by ferry, and no grocery stores on island. I think I will pack a lot of protein bars!! But how do I pass up that carribean rum??

My goal for the month is to go down 8lbs, more would be awesome!!

Congrats on weight loss everyone!

Been away and just catching up on all the posts. I just love all the positive energy on here. I feel lucky to have found these boards. It gives me a boost every time I log on :) I am hoping to hit the 50lb mark this week at weigh in and then lose another 10 pounds in March. Will report in after my appointment Thursday!

chocolatefan 03-01-2011 06:00 PM

Sailing along just fine!! Weighed-in yesterday and lost 3 pounds for a total of 16.5 in 3 weeks!!!!

Just can't wait to hit the 20 pound mark!!! Then, I'm halfway to my goal!!! I hope in the next month to be down another 10 pounds!

Also...Just discovered Laughing Cow cheese! I know I'm late to that party, but what a party it is! Fantastic in my egg-white omelet!

My clinic told me to stay under 30 carbs a day. So far, it's been okay. I usually have a piece of fruit mid-day and then some veggies at dinner. They also told me to have one serving of a healthy fat every day (tsp. of olive oil, tbs of peanut butter, 1/4 avocado, a few almonds.)

Just started Medi last week. I weigh in on Thursday for the first time. I am so excited to see the results!

Congratulations on your loss Chocolatefan. Isn't laughing cow the best?? I tried one of the egg cup breakfasts from Hungry Girl using one wedge and it was just great. Keep up the good work.:kicking:

I am posting my frustrations, not because I don't know what to do, because I do, but just so I can share the successes with the newbies.

I ran 13.1 miles (a half marathon) on Sunday, and since then I have weighed myself at home and I am up 3lbs. I am frustrated by this. It doesn't seem possible that I can run that far, and GAIN weight. I know it's because of water, or muscles or whatever. And I know if I stick with the program the weight will come right back off. So I am telling you guys this just for the newbies to see, that you will have extremly frustrating weeks of, water weight gain, or PMS, or vacation...... but if you stay on track you will overcome this.

So keep watching for me "it came back off" thread. :)

I have other issues developing rather than losing weight if I get PMS.

ericak44 03-01-2011 09:34 PM

I did it, I went back to medi after 47 days and I faced the scale. I was up 7.5 lbs but after everything I ate, 3 lbs was fat and the rest water. I am doing week one again. I had taken myself off of the AS for about 3 weeks and starting back on, I feel like they are working again. I feel in control of my eating again for the first time in months.

My goal for March is to be compliance with the program- week 1 then acute. I would also like to be at my goal 155 (I upped it by 5lbs) by the end of the month. I too am straddeling a 10-12 and want to be a solid 10 again. I have decided I would rather learn to maintain 155 than get to 150. I know from previous diets, maintenance is always harder than losing so I am excited to see how transition on medi goes.

Deb- your labs are very impressive! Congrats on finding a program to get yourself healthy and ward off evil diabetes!

Lins- Great job on your losses! You are doing great!
