Deb,

It is my dominant arm.

Thanks for all the great advice. And you are right, most of my right thigh is deep purple.

Susie, I'm so sorry!!! You're a wise one to weigh with the cast on to be familiar with the new numbers. I probably wouldn't have thought of that and would have stepped on the scale and flipped. I hope you're better soon!!

On to Week 3

Hi Everyone! I just had my second week weigh-in and lost another 6 in addition to the 15 I lost week 1!!! I'm trying not to let this diet consume me, but it's all I can think about. Then again, I was mindlessly eating everything in site for too many years so it's better that I'm focused.
I just wanted to say that I love this board and find it truly inspiring to see those that have kept the weight off.... I want to be just like THAT!!

Thank you all for the support you give each other and hope I can join in!

The second surgery took about 2 1/2 hours.

I also suffered a traumatic hematoma to my right thigh from the same fall. That should heal on its own over time.

I weighed myself this morning with the cast so that I can keep it ln check. I will not

Sue, I'm sorry to hear about your injuries! Wow, you have such a great attitude... Feel better soon.

Susie, I am sorry about your fall. I hope you will heal quickly & get your cast removed early. (been there)

Everyone is doing so well here that I hesitate to even post today. I have been following this WOE for almost 3 years. I've had ups and downs during that time, but have gotten back on track each time.

For the past 2 weeks, I have been interviewing for jobs & have been out of control food-wise. For me, interviews and whether I get the job or not creates enormous anxiety which has resulted in being out of control -- eating pasta, sourdough bread, pizza, and even the dreaded ramen noodles.

I have had "cheat days" off and on for the past 3 years, but they were planned - which is different. Has anyone else had periods where they got off track for more than just a couple of days?? I don't know what kind of damage I have done yet - I am thinking 2 or 3 pounds gained. I need help before it gets any worse. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

I really must have been CRAVING chocolate. I came home with unsweetended Dark Cocoa powder, and 3 different kinds of ATKINS chocolate shakes No, I don't intend to over do it. I'll have 1 or the other and see how my ketosis goes, but the shakes are only 5 carbs so I didn't feel too badly
MEDI clinic told me that there is a BROWNIE recipe on their website. I need to check that out ASAP. Has anyone made it?

Call the clinic tomorrow to find out about it. Jerome Biggars started 'em and they've only met 3 times so far I think, once a month. I've stopped in twice and since I'm in maintenance it gives me added accountability. There's no "push" towards it and the info gets placed on the check out counter about a week or two ahead of time with a sign up sheet. It's all new, relaxed, very little structure, but a helpful worthwhile drive for me to attend.

Swirvee - Congrats on onederland (sorry if the spelling is off!). I am so happy for you!

Susie- So sorry to hear about your fall Your resolve is inspiring.

I weighed in today and hit the big 50! So happy because the scale has been moving slowly for me lately. Feel like this is the shot in the arm I needed. I've been slacking off on the gym and this makes me want to start hitting it hard again. I will try to figure out how to post a profile picture, and get posting too. But for now I will just enjoy looking at my 50

Oh, Susie, OUCH! So sorry to hear about your fall. Wow, were you climbing Everest or something? That was a huge ordeal! I hope you recover quickly. And I so admire your determination. You CAN do it -- stay healthy and keep off the weight while you are healing! Hang in there -- you'll have a big cheering section!

My snail's paced weight loss has FINALLY hit another goal......I've lost 80 pounds! THEN my day got even better....
I had a full body massage in West Palm Beach.....it was a Christmas gift from my Sister-In-Law.....it was a FULL hour (and then some) and it was heavenly! She worked a lot on my sore knees (both front, and back) and said what "good skin" I have.......who knew?

When I got home DH had already planned dinner, that he proceeded to cook. He even cleaned up after........what a wonderful day

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and praise! It's been quite a while since I have seen less than 200 on the scale. I think I'm still in shock! I made a delicious spinach salad tonight. I posted it in the Vegetables & Sides recipe thread.

Horray Mary!!!
Last I remember I think you were talking about adding a little extra fat to your daily plan....was that you? Do you think that helped!? You definitely deserved the day being treated like royalty! 80 lbs!! That's awesome! And you have definitely worked hard at making this a lifestyle change, including exercise and having your DH on board. You will be successful keeping it off!!

Mary, that's one of the things that I am planning to do when I have lost XX amount of weight (Not sure what goal I will choose). I do know that my complexion has improved greatly since starting MWL. No blemishes..I mean I have adult acne forever...

WOAH! Im a senior poster too! when did that happen??

what about pepperoni sticks. I bought pepperoni sticks during the first week but never ate them because I was afraid they were so wrong for the diet. I guess I could read the nutrition facts and check for myself huh...

Went to my first Zumba class last night. Whew, that was a doozy. Definitely need to drink some powerade zero before I attempt working out. I got dizzy several times and had to slow down several times. My legs felt so heavy--guess that will get better as I lose more weight.

Im still not back in ketosis...and I noticed that Im doing a bad job of getting in all my water. Does that affect ketosis levels too? your water intake?

How interesting that you mentioned that. My facial skin and even my HAIR has appeared healthier the past few weeks than it had in years. I omitted to mention the rest of my skin, 'cause I have some "baggy" or "crapey" (sp?) looking skin on my upper arms & legs, apparently from losing the fat... Sorry about TMI here! I hadn't foreseen that little negative side effect. Has anyone else been able to overcome this problem with exercise???

Deb,
Yes I've added more fat somedays Since I don't have the AS, MIC injections, or Fat Burners from the center, 500 cal/day has been a struggle, and I think a little more fat helps. I've added a tiny amount of coconut oil to my diet (I think it has helped my skin a LOT), plus I use the coconut oil in place of lotion after my shower......but I digress....I also struggle with the use of all the FF foods that are actually HIGHER in carbs than it's REAL counterpart! so I either don't use that food at all (I've cut out the use of pretty much ALL cheese except for the Mozzarella, which was what I used anyway) or sometimes I substitute a small amount of the REAL food....I HATE FF Cool Whip so used the "Lite" version for most of my weight loss, but I have since made the choice to NOT eat that fake stuff at all, and instead use real cream to make my own whipped cream on the RARE occasions that I want some topping. I am able to have a couple tablespoons of the real stuff and not over-do, but I am NOT advocating anyone else follow MY DECISIONS, but to follow what their clinic tells them. I have followed this WOE to a 'T' for the majority of my weight-loss and IT WORKS!

This was purely by accident! We had made the appointment for the massages right after Christmas .......but it sure did make the achieving that mini-goal more special!

While most of my skin has tightened up pretty well on it's own, I too have the "crapey" skin in places  I've had 2 C-sections, and one other abdominal surgery that was done by a surgeon with LESS than stellar "sewing" skills! I had quite an "apron" on my lower abdomen, and so have been using one of those thumper type back massagers to go over it daily, as well as tightening my abdomen while walking, and I think it has helped. I read (here I think) that doing a lot of abdominal exercises only built up the muslce underneath, and actually pushed out the "paunch" more. I also read that "stimulating" the flabby skin (and remaining fat) with vibrations helped to "move" the fat, and encourage more collagen production (which tightens skin) It was an article about how those old vibrating belt machines actually did work to a point! Anyway I decided it can't hurt, and MIGHT help!

I saw a thing on YouTube that was a broadcast from the TV show The Doctors where they showed using this little "roller" with TINY needles to go over the skin (face) and that it stimulates the collagen production to tighten up the skin. They said you can do it at home or in the Dr. Office where they use LONGER needles so actually numb up the skin. It causes redness for a couple of hours but tightens the skin gradually over then next few weeks. They use it for scars as well as for wrinkles and sagging skin. I'm not ready to try anything like that YET!! but it was interesting!
